The chapter no one asked for:
Me venting about music :DDDD

First thing's first, I'mma say all the words inside my head—

Just kidding. This isn't about Imagine Dragons.
... unfortunately.

If anyone asked me for my opinion on band, I'd say:
"Love the class! HATE THE CLASSMATES."

Especially the boys.

All of the boys have some kind of brass instrument (except for Ben and Lance, who have percussion)

They will:
-Blast and splatter notesas loud as possible
-Play and/or talk when the teacher's talking
-Sing in annoying voices, be it humming someone's part while they're playing or singing lyrics to the song
-Whistle and hum along to parts (like I mentioned)
-Exaggerate EVERYTHING
-Show NO RESPECT for others

I've had enough of it! Like— STOP! JUST...JUST STOP!

And now, the pros and cons of having perfect pitch.

Pros:
-Generally, you're always in tune, or if you're out of tune you can easily adjust
-You can easily identify and pick out notes, so if you're struggling to keep up in a group, listen for your cue to come in
-It's easier to memorize scales and rhythms
-You can learn songs by ear and easily write them down if necessary (...although sometimes it's hard for me to find rhythms and time signatures, but notes and key signatures aren't as big of a problem...most of the time)

Cons:
-You can hear EVERY little sound, including faint singing or humming
-It's easy to hear mistakes, whether it be a missed accidental/incorrect key signature, a skipped articulation, irregular tempos, skipped notes altogether, incorrect rhythms, etc.
-EVEN THE SLIGHTEST OUT-OF-TUNE NOTE IS TRIGGERING.
-JUST STOP
-STOP PLAYING IT WRONG
-STOP PLAYING
-STOP
-STOP IIIIIIIIT—

...yeah.

How do I know all of this?
I happen to have perfect pitch.

I didn't know it was a thing at first until one day, my harp teacher was scrolling through songs on iTunes to see if the arrangement of one song I play was avalible there.

She played one of the songs and wondered if this was the right one.

I said, "No; that arrangement is in E♭major, while my arrangement is in C major."

She looked at me and asked, "You can tell that's in E♭?"

Assuming everyone could and not knowing that it wasn't something everyone could do, I replied with, "Umm...yeah?"

Then she started calling for grandma and went to the piano to play some chords, asking me to tell which ones she played. I answered each one correctly.

My teacher then went on to explain how perfect pitch is a valued gift and learned skill in colleges that give degrees in music. The class itself is called "ear training."

Knowing that I had the gift naturally and didn't have to learn it, it really made me feel special.

BUT SOMETIMES IT'S JUST SO ANNOYING LIKE J U S T  P  L   A    Y     C    O    R       R     E    C      T   L         Y—

anyways yeah I had to get all this off my chest because I just got out of band
