    High School Musical was a hit, and now it was time for winter break, a new year and the next musical. Miss Jenn and Carlos had the idea to film a video for the drama clubs Instagram.

    Carlos: Ladies, gentleman, or however else you identify, welcome to the East High Drama Club's brand new Instagram page.

    Kourtney: I've been waiting for this moment
it's the start of something great
and a chance to turn the page

    Seb: Getting comfy in my onesie, yeah

    Gina and the dancers do a whole dance break.

    Nini & Ricky: Holding your hand when it gets cold

    Gina: I'm gonna make my mark

     Carlos: We are excited to announce that behind these doors, the theater is being restored to its full, resplendent, 1960s-era glory over the holiday break.

    Everyone: Somethin' in the air
I feel it coming, somethin' in the air

"Hey! School let out an hour ago." Mr. Mazzara says to everybody. "Get outta here and enjoy the vacation."

    "Happy holidays, Mr. Scrooge." Miss Jenn says putting a hand on her hip.

    "New Year's at Ashlyn's! Everyone's invited!" Carlos announces. "Gina, Marie, and I are co-hosting!" Ashlyn cheers.

    "You guys, wait. I don't think I was recording the song." Miss Jenn says. "Go back to places? What? I thought I pressed it."

...

    "Welcome home, roomies!" Ashlyn squeals, as Gina and Marie enter her room.

    "Everything the light touches is our kingdom." Ashlyn laughs. Ashlyn, Gina and Marie were sitting on Ashlyn's bed as they all hugged.

    "Ahh, welcome to my cave." Ashlyn says, leaning back on the bed. "I love it!" Gina squeals, they all lay back.

...

    "The party may begin!" Carlos announces as him and Seb enter Ashlyn's house.

    "Happy New year! My couple goals!" Ashlyn says, going over to hug them.  "Oh! in the softest clothes I've ever felt. You're literally wearing clouds."

    "They were a gift from Carlos." Seb says.

    "I was thinking, what's the opposite of an ugly sweater party? And then I conjured these." Carlos explains.

    "So how are things with the new roomies?" Seb asks.

    "Literally the best. It's, like, six months ago, I thought Marie and Gina was borderline the bad seed. And now, now they're borderline my number line confidant. Wait till you see Gina's outfit tonight. Ooh." Ashlyn explains.

     "Uh, can we talk about the fact that you are literally a vision in Ugg's. Ugh. I wish I was brave enough to dress comfortably for a party. What?" Carlos says.

    "Kourtney came over and did me and Gina and Marie up in a 2007 theme. But Marie hated literally everything so we kicked her out from dressing up." Ashlyn says.

    "Say nothing." Carlos says. "2007 is a very ironic and on point theme for reasons that I'm not at liberty to disclose until midnight." 

    "It's because we're doing High School Musical Two, right?" Gina asks coming down the stairs with Marie and Kourtney behind her.

    "Gina!" Seb cheers. "Wait...what? How did you guys know? Did Miss Jenn tell you?" Carlos asks.

    "Sweetie, use your inside voice." Seb tells Carlos.

    "I'm Mexican and gay, this is my inside voice!" Carlos says very loudly.

    "I mean why wouldn't we do HSM Two?" Kourtney questions. "Our HSM was instantly legendary, and we already have the cast and half the costumes."

    "Man, I was so excited to hold that secret over everybody's head." Carlos says before turning his attention to Marie. "Also, girl, come on."

    "Okay, I'm sorry but the only good things to come out of 2007 was HSM Two, and 'Misery Business'." Marie states. "And definitely not this fashion sense."

...

    Ricky and Nini showed up to the party a little later, and on the way in Ricky was singing Bet on It from HSM Two.

    "Okay, okay, okay. Does anybody not know we're doing High School Musical Two?" Carlos asks.

    "We are? Whoo-hoo!" E.J cheers. Carlos groans falling on the couch.

    "I'm getting a root beer. Anyone want anything?" Gina asks. "I'm okay. Thank you." Ashlyn answers.

    "Okay, listen up. Rules of the game. This is important. We need to set intentions and be accountable to one another this year." Kourtney announces. "True dat." Ashlyn agrees.

    "This is a terrible party." Natalie says. "Hey, watch yourself. Okay." Kourtney laughs. "All right, resolution number one. Anyone's guess. 'I resolve to...'. This is so stupid. I can't."

    "Come on, Kourt, you have to read it." Nini says.

   "'I resolve to remember everybody fondly when I go to Duke.' Any guesses?" Kourtney reads.

    "E.J! You got into Duke?" Ashlyn asks. "I mean, have I technically gotten 'into' Duke? Did my father and our grandpa before him also go to Duke? Guys, I think it's just a matter of time." E.J explains, using a lot of air quotes.

    "Okay. I lost track of the air quotes."  Ricky jokes.

    "Okay. Resolution number two. Oh, I don't get this one." Kourtney says. "Just read it!" Ricky yells.

     "This one doesn't say anything except the words 'My cows'."

    "You guys, I thought we were writing down what we're thankful for." Seb says, before everybody laughs as Carlos hugs Seb.

    "Read another clue, Kourt." Steph says.

    "Um, here we go. Okay. Let's see what we got. Um... 'I resolve to follow my dreams, however far away they take me'." Kourtney reads, everybody seems a little confused about this one.

    "That's gotta be Gina, or Marie." Ricky says. Gina and Marie both shake their heads. "Nope. Not me." Gina answers.

     "Uh, it's me, actually. Back to the game, Kourt." Nini says shocking just about everyone.

    "Okay, yes, I will. Um, let's see. Next. 'All I want is for our generation to save the planet, and I would also like absolute clarity about my love life. Thank you'." Kourtney says.

    "Okay, next one. 'I resolve to figure out what the hell I wanna do with my life. P.S 2007 fashion should burn in a dumpster fire'. Okay. Any guesses?" Kourtney says. Most people are a little bit confused besides Kourtney, Ashlyn, Carlos, Seb and Gina, who all look straight towards her.

     "I'm not wrong though!" Marie assures before they all laugh.

...

    A few minutes later Big Red shows up with a lot of pizza. "Six pizzas. Two with lactose-free cheese. I'm here." Big Red says coming into the living room.

    "Yes. Thank you. Good lord, dude, did you fall into a bucket of cologne?" E.J says taking the pizzas from him.

...

    "Remember, my feedback is both precious and invaluable. So, think of this medley as pre-audition workshop. You may begin." Carlos says.

    Seb: It's out with the old
And in with the new

    "One minute till midnight!" Natalie announces.

"Come on, Big Red!" Seb says.

Carlos: Now that all the hard work

"Ten seconds til midnight!" Natalie announces.

"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one!" Everybody shouts.

    "I have an announcement!" Miss Jenn says, coming into the house. "You cut your hair!" Carlos says.

    "Thank you. Wait, do you like it? That's not the announcement, okay. Um... Contrary to rumor, we are not doing High School Musical Two." Miss Jenn explains. Carlos begins to fall over but is caught by Kourtney.

     "We are doing an American classic. Beauty and the Beast." She says. "And I know East High just did it a couple years ago. But you didn't do it my way. And you didn't win the most important award in all of theater."

    "The Tony?" Gina asks.

    "The second most important award." Miss Jenn answers. "The Drama Desk!" Seb asks. "Everyone, calm down. This semester, we are entering the Alan Menken Awards for High School Musical Theater. And we are going to win." Miss Jenn announces, as everyone's getting excited.

    "Um... That means beating North High, Miss Jenn. They have a thousand-gallon Little Mermaid aquarium." Carlos says. "Then we will have an aquarium, too." Miss Jenn states.

    "In Beauty and the Beast?" Carlos questions. "Okay, I need to study the text." She says. "So, who is ready to show the world they deserve to get that scholarship to NYU? I mean, who is ready to go from amateur thespians to statewide award winners?"

    "What team?" Ricky asks. "Wildcats!" Everybody calls back.

    "This is gonna be everything." Gina gushes to Nini.

    "You were born for this show." Big Red says to Nini.

    "I can already picture you in Belle's gold dress." Ashlyn tells her.

    "I'm in if your in." Ricky says to Nini.

    "Ricky, I'm moving to Denver." Nini announces as everyone goes quiet.
