THE FOLLOWING DAY, the group found themselves sitting in the beloved meeks household, waiting for Sam and Richie to arrive.

Hearing the knock on the front door, Mindy sat up after losing a game of rock paper scissors to Chad and welcomed them in.

Walking alongside Sam and Richie, was Dewey. Growing up, Lennon and Wes had heard all about the older male from the stories told by their mom.

"You said to bring everybody." Mindy called out.

"Hey." Sam greeted. She went to begin on why she called everyone here but before she called, Martha Meeks strolled in, holding a tray. "Woo, suspects!"

Placing it on the table, she looked around. "My brother would be so proud."

Lennon has always been close to the Meeks family, Martha caring for Lenny like she was her own. She heard multiple stories about Randy and admired him for his actions.

Martha didn't see Dewey until he made himself aware, the woman immediately pulling him into her embrace. "Dewey, hi! You look.." She trailed off, but continuing to nod her head. "Hows the wife?"

At that, Chad shooed Martha away from beside Lenny.

When she evacuated, Sam started again. "I asked Mindy to call everybody here, because... there's something i have to tell you."

Sam took her time to explain her situation, which pretty much blew everybody away.

Lenny, who was sat between Chad and Wes, had her mouth wide open she could catch flies.

"So let me get this straight-" Chad began when nobody else spoke. " You're saying that you're the daughter of Billy Loomis, and, what, that one of us is the killer?" He summarised.

Sam leant up slightly. "The killer told me he knew my secret. He attacked Tara to lure me back here."

Lenny closed her mouth and nodded her head, taking it all in.

" But then why immediately go and murder some douche-nozzle that was stalking Liv?" Chad continued.

Wes added on. "And why does it have to be one of us? What about Deputy Dewey here? Maybe he's the killer."

Lenny pointed at Wes before pointing at Dewey, stating she agreed with his point. "No offence." The siblings said in sync.

Dewey shook his head. "None taken, but whats my motive?"

Wes stared blankly at the man. "You got stabbed a billion times, got dumped by your famous wife and crawled into a bottle. I think it's safe to say you're on the suspect list."

Lennon nodded exaggeratedly. " He holds a fair point."

Dewey defended himself. "Well maybe you're the killers. Because that cut deep." He choked out, sitting back against the couch.

"That douche-nozzle is connected." Amber exclaimed. "I googled him. His mom is Leslie Macher. Stu Macher's sister."

Liv tilted her head in confusion. "Who's Stu Macher?"

Lennon physically gasped at the question. Has she not seen Stab? "Oh my god." She mumbled to herself, earning a slight nudge from Chad to see him smiling.

"He's Billy Loomis's accomplice." Dewey explained. " A real loony tune."

Sam spoke again. "Okay, okay. So the first three attacks are all on people related to the original killers."

Mindy gasped. "Oh, my god. He's making a requel!"

This earned confused glances from everyone.

" A what?" Sam asked.

"Or a legacyquel. Fans are torn on the terminology." Mindy tried to explain.

Chad groaned out. "God, please speak English." he begged.

Sitting up, Mindy looked like she was about to get ready for war. "Okay, remember the Stab movie that came out last year?"

"Oh, year! The one the knives out guy directed, right?" Liv tried to understand. "You know, i actually really liked that one."

Mindy stared blankly at the girl. "Of course you did. You have terrible taste."

Liv glared back at her. "I hate you."

"The point is--" Mindy carried on, "-- the hard-core Stab fans hated it. You go on 4chan and Dreadit, all they're talking about it how Stab 8 pissed on their childhoods. How they crammed in social commentary just to make it elevated. How the main character's a Mary Sue."

Richie looked lost. "What's a Mary Sue?"

Wes shook his head. "You really don't want to know."

Amber raised her arms. "What's wrong with elevated horror? I mean, Jordan Peele fucking rules."

"Uh- obviously, but that's not Stab. Real Stab movies are meta slasher whodunits, full stop." Mindy exclaimed.

Sam slightly rolled her eyes. "Come on, it's just a movie."

"No it's not." Mindy defended. "To some people, the original is their favourite thing in the world. The movie that made them love horror. That Mom or Dad showed them when they were ten that bonded them together. And God help anyone who slightly fucks with that special memory. Who makes a movie they think disrespects it." She stood up, arms in the air. "It sounds like our killer is writing his own version of Stab 8, but doing it as a requel!"

"Which is..?" Dewey trailed off.

Mindy looked around at everyone before clapping her hands. "See, you can't just reboot a franchise from scratch anymore. The fans won't stand for it. Black Christmas, Child's Play, Flatliners.. that shit doesn't work. But you can't just do a straight sequel, either. Ug- you got to build something new. But not too new or the internet goes bug-fucking nuts."

Lennon had a huge grin on her face watching her best friend explain all of this. She genuinely looked so focused. Happy Mindy = Happy Lenny.

"It has to he part of an ongoing story line, even if the story shouldn't have been ongoing in the first place. New main characters, yes, but supported by and related to legacy characters. Not quite a reboot, not quite a sequel. Like the new Halloween, Saw, Terminator, Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters, fuck, even Star Wars! It always, always goes back to the original!" She finished, displaying the Stab Movie dvd in her hand.

Sam looked straight at Mindy. "Are you telling me that i'm caught in the middle of fan-fucking-fiction?"

"Not.. just in the middle, Sam." Mindy spoke, kneeling down in front of the Carpenter girl. "You're the star." she smiled.

Liv broke the silence. "So, not to put too fine a point on it, but, according to requel rules. . . who's next."

"Going by the pattern, whoever it is has to be connected to someone that came before." Mindy looked around eerily.

Lennon, hearing this, looked straight to Wes, to find him looking back at her.

"Im starting to regret coming here." Dewey confessed.

"Wes-- our mom." Lennon whispered, looking around at everyone.

"Yeah- Jesus, our mom was a character in one of them." Wes told them.

"No no cares about the shitty inferior sequels, Hicks', You're safe." Mindy stated.

Lennon leant her head on her brother's shoulder. Still not sounding very convincing. Chad placed a comforting hand on Lenny's thigh. Lennon was mentally screaming inside.

"With Randy as out uncle, though, you and i are probably screwed." Mindy looked to Chad, who was caught off guard. "Wait What?"

Richie didn't seem convinced. "Or you're the killer, and this whole elaborate monologue is just to cover your tracks."

Mindy let out a scoffed laugh. "I think it's pretty clear who the killer is at this point."

Sam looked to the Meeks-Martin girl. "Who?"

Mindy didn't even refrain from blurting what she thinks. "You."

Sam breathed out a laugh in surprise.

"It makes perfect requel sense." Mindy further explained.

"That actual does make a lot of sense." Chad agreed.

Lennon raised her eyebrows. Was everyone forgetting this was the girl that watched them grow, practically raising them?

Sam looked offended and walked away from the group. "Fuck this."
