If there was one thing 𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐀 𝐇𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐌𝐀𝐍  knew better than the palm of her hand, it was the feeling of exhaustion.

A control freak. An ambitious maniac. A gifted child molded into an overachiever, programmed to fulfill expectations and find acceptance throughout the one thing she had been taught to look for: excellence. Vienna believed that she didn't have any other option but to succeed in order to give her sister and mother the life they deserved—the same life they had never been able to taste, the life that was taken away from them after their father left town and lost himself in a secret place. Regardless of the seventeen years of hard work, and despite the thousands of hours she had spent memorizing books and building her academic record from the ground up, she simply never stopped.

That was her worst habit. She was constantly aiming for greatness, always fearing disappointment, and never giving a second thought to the fact that she was actually growing tired.

But then the accident happened... and academic validation stopped being the only thing she had to care for.

Days went by faster than ever after her little sister's knee was critically injured in an organized attack, torn apart by her own classmates. Suddenly, Vienna and her family were living in a new city, far away from their small hometown in Colorado, and her top priority was to find a way to defend Charlotte from the bullies that had always plagued her life. Still, she hadn't expected to end up trapped on Terry Silver's webs in exchange for the money she desperately needed to pay for her sister's rehabilitation, and nor did she think once that she, out of all the other Cobra Kai students, would be the one in charge of an especial assignment: spying on the competition.

In the end, Vienna finds herself stuck in the middle of a karate war, wrapped in a hurricane of violence and madness that she can't seem to escape from. And she knew damn well that her task should have been strictly professional, almost academical, but, when Miguel Diaz crosses her path, the perfect little morals she had assembled for herself seem to crumble into pieces.

She told herself that she wasn't allowed to create attachments—her heart wasn't supposed to jump and flutter at the sight of brown eyes and tan skin, curly hair and gentle smiles; affection was a mere distraction, a weakness that could only cause unnecessary dramas and distress. As far as she knew, Miguel was just an enemy she had to defeat, a rival from a different dojo, a pawn in a game that she had to win in order to earn the money her family required.

However, things were far more complicated in The Valley. From the moment she was forced to stay near Miguel, something had been bound to happen. Good or bad, heartbreak or euphoria; either way, Vienna didn't want it.

     Perhaps she only used to have one bad habit before meeting him, but even the toughest of hearts can be swayed, making the tables turn just to beat a little faster. And, even though she couldn't admit it to herself, hers was fragile, and tired, and weak, for it had spent seventeen years fighting to fill a void she didn't care to close, and that same battle may be the damn culprit that would force Vienna to add one more vice to her list: wanting to kiss Miguel Diaz, and needing his presence just as much as she needed fresh air.
