MALIVORE
part one

THE AIR WAS THICK in the Salvatore School as students sat in the morning assembly, listening to the headmaster, Dr, Saltzman speak out. Guinevere sat next to the Saltzman twins in the front row, all three of them taking in what the man said.

"Given recent events, some students have expressed concern that I am not allowing you to have a say in the decisions that affect your future. And I agree.
If you are expected to abide by this school's policies, it's only fair that you have a voice in how those rules are made." Dr. Saltzman said, looking down at his daughters every few seconds. Josie and Lizzie secretly high fived each other, grinning at one another.

"So, I am forming an honor council. One vampire, one witch and one werewolf, each elected by their peers.
Along with our school counselor Emma, whose vote will represent the younger students." The Saltzman man continued.

Whispers of the words, "MG is such a narc." reached the Elison girls ears causing her to turn her heads to peer at the crowd of vampires who glared at MG who sat in the front row. Guinevere sighed, feeling bad for MG who she knew, only wanted to do the right thing.

"Now, I have to go off-campus. In the meantime, I expect you to make good decisions and to vote wisely. That's all. You're dismissed." At those last words, Dr. Saltzman grabbed his bag before walking out of the room. The students of Salvatore School jumped up from their chairs, chatting about who they would vote for the council.

Guinevere and Josie had been been laid out of the floor of the Saltzman twins room, looking at the campaign poster Lizzie had made for herself, not paying attention to the blonde herself as she changed.

"Girls, focus." Lizzie said causing both girls heads to fly up to see the blonde now dressed all in white, looking like she was about to run for Congress, not a school council.

The Elison girl stifled a laugh at Lizzie's expense, before asking, "Liz, what are you wearing?"

Lizzie sighed, ignoring the question as turned back around to stare at her all white attire. "None of this is working.

"You know, you're not gonna lose the election over an outfit." Josie said, cutting along the side of the poster ever so carefully with a pair of scissors.

"I'm not worried about losing the election. I'm worried about what I'm going to wear to my victory rally. The outfit makes the speech." Lizzie uttered before changing the outfits appearance in the mirror to the colour pink.

The blonde looked at her reflection proudly. "How do I look?"

"Maybe you should wear something that shows your fellow witches you're gonna take this seriously. It's a big responsibility." Josie said looking up at her sister, a look of concern flashing across her face.

Lizzie walked over to the pair, gesturing to herself with one of her hands. "That is why I am perfect for the job. I'm a tastemaker. An influencer. People don't really know what they want until I tell them that they want it. They need me."

"I would think they need someone who doesn't rely on others for everything." Guinevere muttered to herself, bitter about how Lizzie treated her sister.

She loved Lizzie but she was selfish and relied on Josie for everything. How could Lizzie truly know what people want if she didn't know she wanted herself?

Josie nudged the Elison girl with her elbow when she heard what she said, but thankfully Lizzie remained none the wiser.

Guinevere had been walking alongside the Saltzman girl, not knowing what they were yet. If they were dating or not, if they could call each other girlfriend or not, so Guinevere stuck to simply referring to the girl by her name.

"Lizzie Saltzman only cares about Lizzie Saltzman. If your interests don't line up with hers, you're witch non grata. I personally believe that you deserve a better candidate." The girls heard Penelope Park say as they walked in to the dining hall, the girl sitting on the steps of the room surrounded by a group of witches.

"So you're running for honor council just to spite her. That's low, Penelope, even for you." Josie declared, glaring at the short hair brunette in front of her.

Penelope glanced at the Saltzman girl up and down, giving a quick glare at Guinevere. "You used to like it when I went low."

Her words caused the Elison girls chest to flare with jealousy. Josie looked briefly to the side, clutching on to Guinevere's hand, interlocking their fingers. The movement quailed the fire in the girls heart, a soft smile replacing the grimace Guinevere had previously sported.

"You know what I mean. You don't even like extracurricular activities, let alone anything that involves a moral compass." The Saltzman girl uttered as Penelope moved closer to the pair.

"Oh, and your one-witch ethics committee is okay with double plagiarism?" The Park girl provoked as she swiftly pulled Lizzie's campaign poster from the hold Josie had on it.

"It is not like "Hope" was an option. Bow out now, or I will crush you." Josie responded, squeezing lightly on the hand she held.

Penelope gave Josie a faux pity look. "Oh, honey, you crush on me. And deep down, you know I'm right. Your sister's unfit for office."

Guinevere, noticing that Josie was uncomfortable began pulling the girl back, away for her ex girlfriend. "Well this was fun, Penelope. But Josie and I have to get going. Go sacrifice some children and we'll hopefully see you never."

With that said, the Elison girl successfully escaped with Josie by her side. Sighing happily, she glanced over at the girl next to her as they walked. Josie however appeared angry, though Guinevere couldn't exactly blame her.

"Josie, what's wrong?"

"She just bothers me so much." The Saltzman girl complained, a frown present on her face.

Guinevere sighed in defeat, knowing that what she was about to say would probably cause Josie to be pissed at her. "Look, Josie. You already know my opinion on the matter. I love Lizzie but she isn't exactly the best fit. She relies on you for everything, Josie. How can she be the sole head of the witches on the council when she has never been independent in her life?"

"Are you seriously saying this to me?" Josie uttered, seemingly betrayed by the girls words.

"Look I know you love your sister, but you have to love yourself too. You are just as qualified for that position as Lizzie but you don't even go for it, in the off chance you might upset her."

Guinevere then continued speaking when Josie didn't say anything in reply. "You are an amazing person, Josie Saltzman. But the world doesn't get to see it since Lizzie always hogs the spotlight. When is it gonna be your turn?"

When Josie sighed in defeat, the Elison girl leaned forward to lightly press her lips against Josie's cheek, leaving a quick peck before pulling back. "I have to get to class. Hopefully when I see you later, you won't hate me."

"This is such an honor." Guinevere heard as she ventured past the open Saltzman twins room door, as she was on her way to her own room. As she glanced into the room, the Elison saw that Lizzie held cue cards in her hands, most likely reading out an acceptance speech she had prepared.

"It's so nice to know that you all love me as much as I thought you did." Guinevere stifled a laugh, holding her hand up to cover her mouth to contain her laughter from escaping. One thing she knew about Lizzie was that she sure did love herself.

"Hey, Lizzie, before you go too far down the road of victory speeches, I talked to Serena and her goth coven. She said that they would vote for you, but they just wanted to make sure that you would allow time off for pagan holidays." Josie said as she come out into view from behind the door.

When Guinevere heard her voice, she almost ran but remembered she didn't have anything to be afraid of. She was allowed to speak her own opinion no matter if Josie liked it or not. Sadly, Josie was not pleased.

"Right." Lizzie nodded in agreement. The sound of footsteps reached the Elison girls ears so she quickly turned to see Rafael making his way towards the room.

"Rafael. Hey." Guinevere whispered as she crouches down again the wall, waving at him slightly, not really wanting to be caught eavesdropping on the twins, by the twins.

He nodded at her in acknowledgment, before walking past her into the girls room.

"Hey, Raf." Guinevere heard the voice of the brunette Saltzman twin say as he entered the room.

"Hey, Jo." Rafael replied stopping to stand in front of her.

"Welcome to the winner's circle." Lizzie spoke up, from her place beside her bed, desperately trying to Rafael's attention.

"How's it going with Jackass Jed? I mean, do you need any more advice on how to deal with Cro-Magnon alphas?" Josie inquired from the Waithe boy.

Rafael sidestepped away from Josie, moving to stand in front of Lizzie. "That's actually why I'm here."

As Rafael moved forward, he spun around to face Josie again. "Guinevere is outside in the hall, by the way."

At the mention of her name, Guinevere grimaced in embarrassment. She had just been exposed as a eavesdropper. Slowly she emerged from the wall and into view of the residents in the room.

When the Elison girl caught the eye of Josie, she stuttered out the first time that came to mind. "Josie. Yo. How's it hanging? I'm just gonna g-" she said before attempting to escape to her room, where she could complain about herself to herself in peace.

"Wait." Josie's voice caused her to stop in place. "Can you hang on? I want to talk to you. I just have to do this first." The Saltzman girl said gesturing to the books in her hands.

Guinevere nodded her head, quietly moving to stand in the room as Josie kneeled down to place some books in the small bookshelf that sat near the door.

"You got a sec?" Rafael asked Lizzie once Josie and Guinevere had finished speaking.

"I have a lot of secs." Guinevere once again held in her laughter at double entendres, on Lizzie's behalf. That girl just wasn't having the best of luck today. "I mean time."

Rafael took a deep breath before he began speaking. "The honor council might get to decide if Landon can stay. Emma won't say how she's gonna vote, but I talked to MG, and he's the only vampire running, and he's on board. And because everybody knows that you're gonna get the witch vote, I-"

Lizzie quickly cut Rafael off, nodding her head. "Say no more. I know how much Landon means to you, and I would be happy to help."

"I mean, all right. Thank you." The Waithe boy responded while chuckling. "Seriously."

"Oh, if-if you would, um, be happy to be my date to my birthday on Friday?" Lizzie nervously asked, wringing her hands together as she looked at Rafael.

Suddenly the remaining books Josie held, clattered to the floor, the girl nervously began gathering them up. Guinevere smiled at the girl before kneeling down, picking up a few books in order to help her.

The Elison girl passed them off to Josie who whispered quiet, "Thank you." Before simply pushing the books into the bookcase.

"No problem. Hey you want to talk in my room?" At the question, Josie rapidly nodded her head. Guinevere laughed at the girls reaction before taking hold of her hand and pulling her from the floor and out of the room, in the direction of her room.
