AFTER RUNNING FROM Aragog and his spiders, Harry and Ron took ( Y/N ) up to the Gryffindor common room since they assumed the girls lavatory was going to get flooded by Moaning Myrtle again. The two sat at one of the tables taking about what Hermione might've being doing with that mirror and what they learned from Aragog, or at least Harry was.

Ron was up in the dorms along with most of the Gryffindor's. They were all planning to visit Hermione in the hospital wing early tomorrow morning, man did they need her right now.

( Y/N ) had her wig off since no one was around, but kept it besides her just in case anyone came down to the common room. Harry was happy to know Hagrid was innocent. ( Y/N ) knew Hagrid would never do something like that, he seemed like the kinda half-giant who wouldn't.

"Sorry about the girl's lavatory," Harry said in a low tone so no one would hear. "At least you won't have to deal with Myrtle anymore."

( Y/N ) slightly smiled, she agreed about the whole Myrtle part. Though, she did feel kinda bad for whatever happened to her, and however it happened.

"Don't worry, when all of this is over, you won't have to hide in a lavatory like a dog anymore," Harry continued. "Mrs. Weasley, she's nice. And she can make you whatever you like."

She perked up, remembering something she tried in the great hall. "Cauldron Cakes?"

"Well, yeah, Cauldron Cakes, but real food, too," Harry sighed.

"See, I was thinking, once all this is over and the Heir of Slytherin is gone and you're not a secret anymore, Mr and Mrs. Weasley can get you an actual bed up in the Burrow."

"My point is, they'll take care of you," Harry continued with a smile. "They'll be like your new parents, and Ron, he'll be like your brother, so will Fred, George and Percy, and Ginny will be like your sister."

"And you?"

"What? No," Harry scoffed.

"Why no?" ( Y/N ) questioned.

"Because... 'cause it's different," Harry continued, but sighed after seeing ( Y/N ) frown in confusion. "I mean, I don't know, I guess it's not. It's stupid."

"Harry," ( Y/N ) spoke up.

"Yeah?"

"Friends don't lie."

"Well... I was thinking, I don't know," Harry said. "Maybe next year we could Hogsmeade together. I've never been, but I know.."

Harry paused right before their lips met, locking eyes with her and silently asking for her consent. He was scared of making the wrong move. Harry pressed his lips against her own, letting go a second later. ( Y/N ) went eye wide, and Harry looked down, smiling at his feet.

โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”

THE TRIO went back to the Hospital Wing to bring a petrified Hermione new flowers. The sun was going down, and there was nobody in the halls. Harry sat down in front of Hermione and Ron and ( Y/N ) stood besides her, looking down at their petrified friend.

Harry took out the crumbled up, dead flowers and placed the new ones in the vase before throwing them on the floor. The mirror Mcgonagall showed them was still on Hermione's nightstand as well.

"Wish you were here, Hermione," Harry frowned. "We need you.. now more than ever.

Ron and ( Y/N ) looked down at her with solemn expressions, hoping that they'll see their friend again. Harry rubbed his thumb on Hermione's hand, but paused when he felt something inside it. He took it out and unfolded the crumbled up piece of paper.

"What's that?" Ron questioned.

"Ron, ( Y/N ), this is why Hermione was in the library the day she was attacked,"

He took the piece of appear and stood up from his spot on the hospital bed. "Come on!" Ron and ( Y/N ) hurried out, following him into on of the empty corridors.

"Of the many fearsome beasts that roam our land none is more deadly than the Basilisk," Harry read. "Capable of living for hundreds of years, instant death awaits any who meet the giant serpent's eye."

"Ron, ( Y/N ), this is it. The monster in the Chamber of Secrets is a Basilisk," Harry said. "That's why I can hear it speak. It's a snake."

"But if it kills by looking people in the eye, why is it no one's dead?" Ron inquired.

Harry thought for a moment, and went eye wide after looking through one of the windows. "Because no one did look it in the eye. Not directly, at least."

"Colin saw it through his camera. Justin, Justin must have seen the Basilisk through Nearly Headless Nick. Nick got the full blast of it, but he's a ghost, he couldn't die again," Harry continued. "And Hermione had the mirror. I bet you anything she was using it to look around corners, in case it came along."

"And Mrs. Norris?"

"I'm pretty sure she didn't have a camera or a mirror, Harry," Ron stated.

"The water..." Harry trailed off.

"There was water on the floor that night. She only saw the Basilisk's reflection," Harry explained.

Harry, Ron and ( Y/N ) went besides one of the torches to get a better view.

"Spiders flee before it," Harry said. "It all fits."

"But how's the Basilisk been getting around? A dirty, great snake, someone would have seen it,"

"Hermione's answered that too,"

He put the parchment forward and showed the word pipes underlined. But ( Y/N ) was in the bathroom for most of the time so, she must've heard it. She guessed she was a Muggleborn, and that's what's been getting her worried.

"Pipes?" Ron spat. "It's using the plumbing."

"Remember what Aragog said about that girl 50 years ago? She died in a bathroom?" Harry asked.

"What if she never left?"

"Moaning Myrtle," Ron and ( Y/N ) said.

Mcgonagall started speaking on the PA system. Ron, Harry and ( Y/N ) wondered what the teachers were being called down for, probably about the Chamber of Secrets. The trio started running around the hall and over to the corridor to find the teachers.

โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”

"AS YOU CAN SEE, the Heir of Slytherin has left another message," Mcgonagall announced as her and some of the professors and staff members, the few not being Professor Lockhart, came to a halt at the corridor, Madam Promfey, Professor Snape and Filch all read the message in fear.

"Our worst fear has been realized," Mcgonagall continued. "A student has been taken by the monster into the Chamber itself."

Harry, Ron and ( Y/N ) hid behind the end of another hallway to listen in on the teachers. ( Y/N ) didn't want to leave, this was the closet she's ever felt like she's had a home before. Sure, she was going to be with Ron, but something about Hogwarts just made it feel different.

"The students must be sent home," Mcgonagall sighed. "I'm afraid this is the end of Hogwarts."

The staff members snapped their heads in the direction of a late Lockhart who had the usual smirk on his face. Clearly, he does not know how to read a room.

"So sorry. Dozed off. What have I missed?" He smiled.

"A girl has been snatched by the monster, Lockhart," Snape explained. "Your moment has come at last."

"My m-moment?" Lockhart stuttered.

"Weren't you saying just last night that you've known all along where the entrance to the Chamber of Secretes is?" Snape inquired.

Lockhart stared at him, a bit annoyed and worried that his time of fame was coming to end.

"That's settled. We'll leave you to deal with the monster, Gilderoy," Mcgonagall stated.

"Your skills, after all, are legend."

"Very well," Lockhart smiled. "Uh, I'll just be in my office getting, uh... getting ready.

Lockhart left and Promfey turned to Mcgonagall with a worried look.

"Who is it that the monster's taken, Minerva?"

"Ginny Weasley."

Ron, Harry and ( Y/N ) went eye wide as they watched the professors leave. Ron began reading the message that was written on the wall, worried for his sister's life.

"Her skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever," Ron gasped. "Ginny."

โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”

RON, HARRY and ( Y/N ) ran into the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom to look for Professor Lockhart. It was dark with only the moon for little light. Ron told ( Y/N ) to stay outside, and the boys ran into Lockhart's office to ask him for help on the Chamber.

"Professor, we have some information for you," Harry said.

They watched as Lockhart slammed a suitcase shut with a stressed look. His hair was messier than before, and his office was all packed up. Harry and Ron stood their with shocked face.

"Are you going somewhere?" Harry inquired.

"Uh, well, yes, um," He stammered and looked around the room. "Urgent call. Unavoidable, uh.. got to go."

"What about my sister?" Ron exclaimed.

"Well, um... as to that, most unfortunate. No one regrets more than I," Lockhart packed a few more of his belongings.

"You're the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher," Ron spat. "You can't go now."

"Well, I must say, when I took the job, there was nothing in the job description-"

Before he could run out of the room; Harry and Ron stepped in front of him.

"You're running away? After all that stuff you did in your books?"

"Books can be misleading," Lockhart stated.

"You wrote them!"

"My dear boy, do you use your common sense!" Lockhart raised his voice.

"My books wouldn't have sold half as well if people didn't think I'd done all those things!"

"You're a fraud," Harry said. "You've just been taking credit for what other wizard's have done."

"I'd there anything you can do?" Ron wondered.

"Yes. Now you mention it. I'm rather gifted with memory charms," Lockhart replied. "Otherwise, you see, all those wizards would've gone blabbing and I'd never have sold another book."

"In fact, uh... I'm, uh, going to have to do the same to you-"

Just as he got out his wand, it flew out of his hand before he could cast a single spell. He frowned in confusion as he watched a girl with a shaved head and a Gryffindor robe walk into the room, her nose also bleeding.

"Don't even think about it," Harry, Ron and ( Y/N ) glared at him.

Harry turned around and watched as ( Y/N ) smiled lightly, wiping her nose with the sleeve from her Gryffindor robe. He turned back to Lockhart and they lead him to the girls' lavatory where they would ask Moaning Myrtle the main question: how she died.

โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”

MOANING MYRTLE FLOATED around the girls' lavatory, sobbing once again. Once Harry, Ron, Lockhart and ( Y/N ) stepped in she gasped and snapped her head in the direction of the footsteps.

"Oh, who's there?"

Myrtle smirked, giggling. "Hello, Harry."

Ron noticed how ( Y/N ) looked down at her feet, and looking up again. He frowned in confusion, thinking this was a Muggle laboratory thing, but then she glanced at Harry and he got the message.

"To ask you how you died," Harry replied.

"Oh, it was dreadful," Myrtle sighed. "It happened right here in this very cubicle. I'd hidden because Olive Hornby was teasing me about my glasses."

"I was crying... and then, I heard somebody come in,"

"Who was it, Myrtle?"

"I don't know! I was distraught!" Myrtle exclaimed before floating down.

"But they said something funny a kind of made up language," She explained. "And I realized it was a boy speaking so, I unlocked the door to tell him to go away. And... I died."

"Just like that?" Harry frowned in confusion. "How?"

"I just remember seeing a pair of great, big, yellow eyes over there by taht sink," She began whimpering again and floated back to the cubicle she was in before.

Harry headed towards the sink and put his hand on it. He twisted the sink once, and realized that this was it. This was the way into the Chamber of Secrets.

"This is it, Ron, ( Y/N )," Harry moved away. "I think this is the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets."

"Say something,"

"Harry, say something in Parseltongue," Ron said.

Harry began speaking in Parseltongue, and they heard rumbling. The top of the sink lifted up and the bottom separated into a deep, deep way down into the chamber. Lockhart exhaled deeply, shaking his head and turning to the three kids with a smirk on his face.

"Excellent, Harry. Ah, good work," Lockhart sighed. "Well, then, I'll just be, uh..."

"There's no need for me to stay-"

The kids grabbed onto Lockhart before he could get out of the lavatory. They pushed him towards the entrance, but he grabbed onto the sides for support.

"You first," Harry demanded.

"Now, kids, what good will it do?"

"Better you than us," Ron said.

"Um, but..." Lockhart trailed off.

"Go." ( Y/N ) said firmly, ready to throw him in.

Lockhart shook his head quickly. "Okay, okay."

"You sure you don't want to do it first?" Ron pushed him in and he screamed before falling with a thud.

"It's really quite filthy down here," Lockhart stated.

"Alright. Let's go," Ron and ( Y/N ) nodded but then Myrtle spoke up.

"Oh, Harry," Myrtle smiled. "If you die down there you're welcome to share my toilet."

"Uh.. thanks, Myrtle."
