Kali Makaio used to think she was drawn to the darkness.

She grew up in the shadow of her Father, a Mayor who was always too busy working and barking orders to keep an eye on her, and a Mother he refused to talk about. For all she knew, Her mother never existed. It was a sore subject for Isaac Makaio, to mention the woman he fell in love with then was left so suddenly by and was left with child on his doorstep by said woman.

Kali learned to battle the demons that plagued her existence, dyslexia, ADHD, and Mommy issues. Her Father left her to fend for herself in the horrors of the darkness, making Kali have to teach herself to strive alone. She lived good by that law until the age of nine when some bullies cornered her in a dark alleyway during the darkest of night on her walk home from a friend's house.

It was then she realized she had never really been alone at all. There was something greater lurking in the shadows, watching over the girl all her life when her father wouldn't. A darkness.

Kali realized she wasn't drawn to the darkness, she was the darkness. The darkness was here through blood.

Isaac never thought the woman he fell in love with would be some kind of Goddess and for their daughter to turn out like her. It wasn't Isaac who noticed the oddity which was his daughter, it was a man by the name of Chiron who came to her school and told her of a place where there were others like her, where she could live peacefully.

So, she went with him and found a home in Camp Half-Blood, where other Demigod's like her resided. Each Cabin represented a Godly Parent and most of them were filled to the brim with kids. Not even one second passed when she crossed the threshold into camp and a glowing purple symbol of a black crow with the wings of a falcon with the crescent moon on the crows head with a star. The other campers and Demigods simply stared and whispered at her.

Chiron led her to a run-down cabin that hadn't looked inhabited for ages. It had barely enough foundation to stand up. When Kali asked why it was just her here and not with anyone else, Chiron explained because her Mother had no other Demigod children they were aware of. She was the only one.

Her Mother was Nyx, the Goddess of Night, one of the original Goddess's and birthed many of the major God's and Goddess's like Hypnos, The God of Sleep. Apparently, even Zeuz was afraid of the Goddess, her powers extended farther than his ever were, even if she didn't reside on Olympus.

It took a long time for the other Campers to warm up to her. After a powerful Goddess as a Mother was the first thing people saw when they looked at her. They expected her to be evil and cruel. But, Luke Castellan and Annabeth Chase were the first ones to find out she was actually the opposite, a kind, caring and gentle girl who in reality, couldn't hurt a fly. A Bond was then made between the three and Kali finally learnt what it meant to call someplace home, if only the right people were there.

Percy Jackson was a surprise to everyone. But what was more surprising was when he picked the daughter of Nyx to accompany him on his quest for the lightning bolt. She was never known for quests or wanting to leave the place she sought refuge in. Although, Something told her she wouldn't regret going, that this is just what she needed to find her place.

This was just the beginning of Kali Makaio's story.

AUTHORS NOTE |

just so ya'll know! i have never read the books so my insight of the percy jackson universe is pretty bad. i'm purely going off the show. i watched the two movies they made a while ago so I know up to the first two books kind of hit after that i'm completely in the dark, so, it might be a little confusing as I learn as i go.

i also debated making Percy the love interest just because walker is soooo young like it feels illegal somehow for me to write him as love interest to my oc, but i know more about Percy than i do luke, otherwise luke would've been the love interest!

kali is gonna be just like her mother — who zeuz is even scared of! i did some research of nyx the goddess of night and i was surprised to find that out. also she's like one of the oldest goddesses, so she's a badass in my book.
