π•Žπ”Όπ”»β„•π”Όπ•Šπ”»π”Έπ• woke up in front of the Crackstone's Crypt. However, it seemed different, darker than normal. There were no flags, and he was completely by himself... or that's what he thought. He turned and came faced to face with a boy that looks exactly like him, but he had blonde hair replaced his black one, was wearing white clothes and held a book in his arms before he spoke, "You are the key." He spoke.

Wednesday’s eyes shot open, and he was immediately met with Lilith's concerned gaze. Her hands were on his shoulders, steadying him as he regained his senses.

"You okay?" she asked, her voice laced with worry.

Before Wednesday could respond, a mocking snicker drew both their attention. Bianca stood nearby with a smirk playing on her lips, clearly enjoying the moment.

"Taking a catnap?" she teased, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

Lilith’s eyes narrowed, shooting a glare at Bianca that could have frozen fire. Unfazed, Bianca grabbed her flag and dashed off toward the canoes, leaving them behind.

Wednesday, still rattled by the vision he had experienced in front of the crypt, glanced back at it, his mind buzzing with questions. But there was no time to dwell on what had happened or what it could mean. They were still in the race. He grabbed the flag firmly and sprinted back toward the canoe, Lilith close behind him.

As they reached the shore, they saw that the other two boats had already taken off, disappearing into the distance. They had ground to make up, and fast. But luck, or perhaps clever sabotage, was on their side. The hole Enid had slashed into the jokers’ boat earlier had started to take on water, and the rowers were panicking as their vessel began to sink.

As the Black Cats surged past them, Enid couldn't resist a triumphant grin. She called out, "I just asked myself, WWWD, 'What Would Wednesday Do'?" Wednesday didn’t respond, his focus was already locked on the path ahead.Β  The race wasn’t over yet.

The Black Cats were closing in on Bianca's boat when Wednesday, with a sharp flick of his wrist, reached down and flipped the second switch in their canoe. Three spears extended out from the sides, poised to pierce Bianca’s canoe and send it to the depths. Just as they paddled closer, something hit their boat hard, causing it to jolt to the side.

The siren boy had escaped from the net, his tail flicking powerfully as he began to push their canoe towards a nearby buoy. The team strained against him, paddling furiously to no avail. The siren was too strong, and their boat was edging closer to disaster.

Suddenly, Thing leaped into the water and swam straight at the siren, delivering a punch to the boy’s face. The siren recoiled, momentarily stunned, but recovered quickly. With a powerful swipe of his tail, he sent Thing flying to the side, splashing back into the water.

Lilith's eyes darkened with anger as she stepped forward, her gaze icy. "Okay, I've had enough of this." Her voice was cold, dripping with menace. β€œLet’s see if this fish can drown in its own nightmares.”

Her eyes fogged over, turning a ghostly white as she raised a hand above the water. She began muttering in a language that was ancient and otherworldly, her voice a haunting whisper that seemed to echo through the air. The clouds above them thickened and darkened, spiraling into a storm as crows circled overhead, their caws growing louder and more frantic.

The siren boy, ready to strike again, suddenly froze in terror. Something unseen had gripped his tail, pulling him downwards. He twisted in the water, eyes wide with fear, as grotesque, shadowy figures emerged from the depths. These were not ordinary shadows; they were nightmares brought to lifeβ€”skeletal hands with claws as sharp as daggers, twisted faces with hollow eyes, and bodies that moved with unnatural, jerky motions.

They dragged him further down, their grip unrelenting as more of these nightmare creatures swarmed around him, pulling him into the abyss. The siren thrashed wildly, but it was no use. The shadows were too strong, too many. His tail flicked uselessly as the darkness swallowed him whole.

Above, Lilith turned her attention to Bianca’s boat, her face a mask of cold fury. With a swift motion of her hand, more of the nightmarish figures shot through the water toward Bianca’s team. Lilith’s terrifying scream echoed across the lake, sending the crows diving down in a frenzy. They attacked Bianca and her teammates with ruthless precision, pecking and clawing at them, driving them into chaos.

Wednesday watched in awe as Lilith commanded the darkness with such terrifying power, his admiration for her growing with each passing second. Her raw energy, the way she could bend nightmares to her will, left him speechless.

β€œGo now!” Lilith shouted, her voice cutting through the storm.

Without hesitation, the Black Cats paddled forward, racing past Bianca’s canoe. Lilith made a claw-like gesture with her hand, and the nightmare figures swarmed Bianca’s boat, tearing at it with monstrous strength. Wood splintered and cracked as water began to flood into the canoe.

Lilith's eyes returned to normal as the last of the nightmare figures disappeared beneath the water. The Black Cats laughed triumphantly as they surged past Bianca, who was desperately trying to keep her sinking boat afloat.

Wednesday glanced at Lilith, a mix of admiration and pride in his gaze. With her terrifying display of power, she had turned the tide of the race, and they were now on the path to victory.

Bianca glared at the Black Cats with a mix of anger and fury as the team pulled up to the docks. Their flag was firmly in hand as they crossed the finish line, the cheers of the entire school echoing around them. Enid bounced with excitement beside Wednesday, her eyes sparkling with joy.

"OMG, Wednesday, we did it! This is the greatest moment of my entire life!" Enid exclaimed, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. "Admit it, you kinda got into the whole school spirit thing."

Wednesday cast a glance back toward the docks, where Bianca and her team were struggling to climb back onto solid ground. A smirk played at the corner of his lips. "You didn’t tell me it was a dark, vengeful spirit," he teased, still relishing the aftermath of their victory.

Before he could react further, he felt a sudden, warm embrace around his neck. Startled, he looked down to see Lilith, her arms wrapped around him in a tight hug. Her smile was radiant, her eyes glowing with triumph. "We did it," she said softly, her voice carrying a mix of relief and happiness.

Wednesday, caught off guard but touched by the gesture, hesitantly wrapped his arms around her. He felt the warmth of her body against his, and for a moment, he allowed himself to bask in the shared victory and closeness.

However, Lilith pulled away gently, her smile still present but her expression showing a flicker of concern. Wednesday’s gaze fell to her eye, noticing a small trickle of blood at the corner. His concern flared instantly.

β€œAre you okay?” he asked, his voice low, almost tender.

Lilith quickly wiped the blood away, her hand brushing against her cheek. β€œI’m fine. It’s nothing,” she assured him with a reassuring smile.

Wednesday studied her face, his worry evident in his eyes. β€œYou should be careful,” he murmured, his gaze softening.

Lilith’s smile grew as she looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with a mix of gratitude and something deeper. β€œIt’s just a small price to pay for victory,” she said, her voice steady but gentle.

As they stood there, the cheers of the crowd and the excitement of the moment faded into the background. For a brief, precious moment, it was just the two of them, sharing a quiet, intimate connection amidst the chaos of the celebration.
