𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙗𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩

a blink in a new direction

an odd smile, almost guilty

a new shirt

a changed skirt

flying by unnoticed

until they took off the mask

tore off the band-aid

in one swift move

to reveal new, clean skin,

smooth and baby-pink

new, fresh, updated

but out of place and unfamiliar

now it's vibrant,

but its glow has faded

a few steps away

but a million miles apart

and though it should feel like breaking free of chains

i've worn for 7 years,

it feels more like

a beheading
