Marinette didn't know why she did what she did, but she did it anyways. She could see Chloe's shocked face. The blonde was covering her mouth gasping, like she couldn't believe what Marinette had said at all. She was flabbergasted.

"So you mean you haven't really been a real friend?! And why?!"

"Oh Chloe, admit it. You haven't been such a great, real friend either," Marinette pointed out. "Lets just say that I... Overheard your plan with Lila. I just wanted to pay you back."

"And why are you telling me this now?!" Chloe folded her arms, still couldn't believe what was happening. Of course! The only way Marinette had been finding a way around her plans was because she had known about her plans.

"Chloe, don't be too surprised. On one hand, I just want you to change, and you almost did." Marinette realized—she didn't just go back in time to get revenge on Chloe and Lila, but she also did so to make them change. If her enemies could change their ways, then they wouldn't plan their revenge and no one gets hurt in the end.

"And on the other?"

"On the other hand, I just want you to get a taste of your medicine," Marinette shrugged. "I just want to warn you... Whatever you do or whatever you plan to do, I'll always find a way around them. I'll always find a way to bring you and Lila down. But... I doubt you and Lila are going to be friends after what happened. Are you...?"

Chloe bit her lower lip at the question. She didn't answer, so Marinette started walking to the door.

"Oh, and Chloe?"

Chloe looked up.

"I'm sorry about your mother."

More astonished than ever, Chloe watched Marinette leave the room. She looked down at the floor, the words that Marinette gave her roaming around her head.

She wished her mother had never been brought up. There was no way she could forgive Lila easily for what she did. Lila would just have to work on her own. And maybe... Maybe Chloe was soon going to start planning her own revenge on Lila!

~~~
For two whole days, Lila nor Chloe came to school. After two days passed, Chloe came to school on the next day, but still no sign of Lila. People were wondering if she was going to ever come back, or drop out of school.
Some students asked Chloe if she was okay, due to what happened that day, but some others were just glad that Chloe got a taste of her own medicine. They still bad-mouthed her, but all Chloe did was ignore them all.
She had taken her usual seat right next to Sabrina. Sabrina had asked if she was okay, but ignoring everyone, she also ignored Sabrina. It was as if she was in her own little world, thinking about something so important. It was as if her mind wasn't in the real world anymore.
Marinette sighed at the new Chloe. Usually she would come to class to Chloe talking so loudly about whatever happened to her, but now she just looked down at her desk, so quiet, not saying a single word. For a second, it kinda scared Marinette, but soon she figured that Chloe was probably thinking about what she had said before.
Finally Chloe had turned to Sabrina. Sabrina looked so worried for her best friend; she wanted to do something, yet at the same time she didn't know what to do. She was helpless.
"Am I...?" Chloe spoke softly. "Was I really a bad person?"
Sabrina gulped at the question. She didn't want to make Chloe feel even more bad than she already did, but on the other hand, she didn't want to lie to her. Sabrina looked down and slowly nodded. "You kinda were."
Chloe bit her lip as she turned back to her work. "I... I didn't mean for my weakness to be let out. I guess I just always wanted to be on top. I didn't want anyone to look down on me. Especially her! I... I tried so hard to be that perfect daughter, but in the end she still left."
"Chloe, I'm sorry..." Sabrina didn't know what else to say. She really was sorry, but she wished she could do more to make Chloe feel better.
"I took it too far," Chloe continued. "I was so triggered and angry when I lost that competition. I wanted to proof to my mom that I was as good. The worst thing was... She was there. She was there to see me lose. I came in second place. I just felt that if Marinette hadn't joined, then I would have won. I thought it was all Marinette's fault that I lost, but soon... Soon I understood that I just wasn't as good as her."
"Chloe, you're still great. Like, please, if I was your mother, I would definitely be proud of you," Sabrina smiled. "And... I am. I'm proud that you gave it your all. Sure, you lost to Marinette in the competition, but that doesn't mean it has to end like that. It doesn't mean you get revenge, or give up. It just means that you continue, you practice more... You try to be as good. Reach your goal."
"Sabrina, I..." The more words Sabrina spoke, the more Chloe felt worst and thought it was all her fault. "Thank you."
"No problem at all. Just doing what a best friend would do," Sabrina shrugged. "Now, I'm pretty sure you have one more thing to do..." Sabrina nodded over at Marinette, who had been sometimes looking at them from time to time, wondering what they were talking about.
Chloe took a deep breath and let it out. "You're right." She stood up and started walking over to Marinette, making Marinette look up surprised.
"Yes?"
"Can I... Can I talk to you privately?"
Miss Bustier looked up from her paper. "Marinette? Chloe? Anything the matter? I'm sure you girls could settle whatever after class, don't you think?"
"I, yeah, sure... Totally." Chloe started walking back to her desk while looking down before Marinette could say anything. "I'll just... Talk to her later," She mumbled, and took her seat back next to Sabrina.
"So, do you want to join us and go to the park, Marinette?" Rose looked up at the girl who slightly looked a bit distracted.
"Oh... Huh, what?" Marinette looked back, trying to focus on Rose, who had just asked her a question.
"We're going to the park for lunch," Rose explained more. "So do you want to come with us?"
"Uh, yeah, sure..." Marinette stared off to a distance, at Chloe who was taking a seat at a table, with Sabrina. "But can someone else come along?"
"You're not really thinking about-" Mylene frowned. "Why her?! I'm quite surprised, Marinette. I'm really, really surprised!"
Marinette shrugged with a smile and started walking over to Chloe. "Maybe we can start over again," She muttered. "And it'll just be Lila." She reached over to Chloe and Sabrina and tapped Chloe's shoulder.
Chloe looked around at Marinette. Once she saw who it was, she gulped. Sabrina gave her a look, and she nodded back. "Marinette, I've been meaning to talk to you."
"Me too," Marinette replied.
"I..." Chloe stood up from the table. "About what you said that day, you were absolutely right. I just wasn't in my right mind, and at that moment, all I ever wanted was so be good enough. Though now I learnt that you can't do that by getting revenge on others..."
Marinette glared at her first, seeming unsure if Chloe was just playing with her. Finally she just nodded and gave a little smile. "Sure, I accept what I assume is your apology. I just came to ask if you wanted to join me and my friends for lunch."
Chloe looked down. "No... No thanks. I don't think I want to deal with your friends now. Just seeing them makes me feel even more guilty."
Chloe definitely looks like she's sorry. Unfortunately this didn't happen in my last life, so I can't tell if she's lying or not. I gotta be aware at all times and attack when she attacks!
"Besides..." Chloe continued as she turned to Sabrina. "I owe my bestie a little something. Come on Sabrina. You deserve to be spoiled for being the best friend I could possibly have!"
Sabrina's eyes widened and glittered when Chloe said the words. "T-thank you, Chloe!" Chloe took her arm and started dragging her away. Once Sabrina was passing by Marinette, she gave her a wink. "Next is Lila!" Marinette heard her say. "Get it and change her!"
Marinette smirked. That's exactly what I plan to do!
