she sat on the squeaky chair, her fingers drumming the table, legs bobbing up and down as her eyes scanned the faces of all the people in the room, until they landed on him.

she stared at him, the way his eyes crinkled as he laughed, the slight dimple that formed on his cheeks, the way he brought his hand up to his hair to mess it more than it already was.

he motioned with his hands, re-enacting something his son had done to the cat, barely even able to narrate the story because of the laughs tumbling out of his mouth.

she gazed at him with love, with longing. with desire to be back with him. it had been three and a half years since they talked, or hugged, or kissed. and she missed him deeply.

she averted her eyes only after the long silver bearded headmaster cleared his throat to begin the order meeting, discussing tactics and strategies.

after it was the meeting ended, she promptly stood up to leave, giving a slight nod to the order members as she passed by them.

as she stepped out, breathing in the autumn air, she didn't know that it would be the last day she would ever see him again. hear his laugh or his voice again.

for he would be soon gone, leaving only memories behind.

and she, she would be heartbroken, all over again
