King Ezekiel had denied their offer, saying they can't aid in this war, but he offered Daryl a place to stay and he stayedโ€”to stay safe.

So they all huddled in the van, the saviours radio on the dashboard as it made a static sound.

"For anyone out there who loved the obese bastard as much as I did, I just wanna say a few words." Negans voice spoke through the walkie. "Fat joey was not the most badass son of a bitch, but he was loyal. He had a great sense of humour." He said as Adeline rolled her eyes. "In fact, we were just joking about oral sex with Lucille the other day." Adeline turned to Carl as the pair grimaced at the memory.

"Things will not be the same now that he's dead." Negan continued. "Without fat Joey, skinny joey is justโ€”" Negan let out a deep sigh. "Joey. So it's a goddamn tragedy. So, let's have a moment of silence."

Jaycee looking out of the window as she looked at the cars blocking their path. "Someone's trying to block the way." Jesus said as he looked out of the window. "Gotta be the Saviours."

"Look." Carl spoke as he pointed out of the window. "I think that's their base over there." Jaycee looked out the window at his words as Adeline and Madelyn looked over her shoulder.

"Yeah, that's it." Jesus nodded his head as they stared at the building in the far distance.

"Looks shitty." Jaycee mumbled as she turned to face forwards.

"They must be trying to make it hard to get to them." Jesus continued as he looked at the cars.

"We gotta keep goin'." Rick said as he leaned on the window. "We'll move them, and then we'll move them back. They don't need to know we were here." He turned the engine off as everyone got out of the van.

Jaycee let out a sigh as she moved towards the cars, everyone helping to move each cars out of their way.

"Rick." Michonne called the man over, holding out the binoculars for him.

Jaycee closed the car door as she slowly made her way towards them, as did the rest. Jaycee turned to the direction they were looking, her brows furrowing as the sun hit her eyes.

Rick moved past all the cars and towards the wires crossing over the road. He took a closer look as everyone made their way towards him.

It was bombs connected to the wire. "What's all this for?" Michonne asked as they all checked the wire out.

"Wait." Carl said as he looked over at Adeline. "When we were hiding in the back of the truck, we heard a couple of them talking about this. This is for a herd."

"That's why it's a steel cable." Rosita said from beside Jaycee, standing back up. "It's not just for one walker. It's for a lot."

"We need these explosives." Sasha said as she looked at the bombs tied up.

Jaycee bit her tongue as she looked over at Rick, who nodded his head. "Yeah. But we have to figure out how to disarm it first." Rick sighed as Jaycee examined the wires, crouching down.

"One little push against it, boom, raining blood n' guts." Jaycee imitated an explosion as she leaned her elbow on her knee.

Rosita crouched beside her as she pulled a cover off of the ground to reveal a hole with a box with wires and gun powder. "Uh, okay." Tara breathed out as she stood behind the two girls, moving backwards.

"What is that?" Madelyn frowned as she fiddled with her bracelets, tilting her head as Jaycee looked over her shoulder.

"The main source of this makeshift bomb." Jaycee slightly grinned as Madelyn slowly nodded her head, clearly confused.

Rosita carefully looked down at the wires and separating them. "We got ourselves a red situation." Negans voice echoed through the walkie, making everyone turn to Jesus. "I need a search party. See if Daryl ran home like the dumb animal that he is." Jesus picked up the walkie from his belt, holding it up.

"On it." Simon then said. "Be there in time for lunch."

"Turn that sleepy little burg upside down." Negan told him.

"We gotta go. We gotta get there before them, but we need these." Michonne said to Rick as Rosita worked on the wires. "We need to clear a path anyway."

"Yeah." Rick nodded his head as he looked down at Rosita and Jaycee. "Rosita?" Rosita carefully pulled out the black square part as she nodded her head. "First parts done."

"What now?" Michonne asked her as the two women stood up.

"We gotta unwrap the secondary explosives..." Rosita breathed out as she pointed to the wire. "The dynamite, the RPGs. Make sure these castings are not messed up, and do not mess them up, either." She ordered them all. "This thing could still blow."

"Yall heard her. Let's go." Rick told them as they all moved to carefully extract the explosives from the wires.

Jaycee carefully pulled out her knife as she moved to one of the explosives, holding it gently in her hand.

She stuck out her tongue, as she carefully cut the wire, holding the explosives in her hand, she turned to Madelyn, who was the only person near her. "Take this to Ro, but be gentle, okay. Like it's a new born puppy or baby." Jaycee quickly said as Madelyn went to stutter, but Jaycee tilted her head. "Like it's a new born baby."

"O...okay." Madelyn quickly nodded her head, scrambling to Jaycee's side and carefully took the explosives out of Jaycee's hand.

"New born baby or puppy!" Jaycee repeated as Madelyn basically cradled the explosives in her hand, slowly walking over to Rosita and handing it to the woman.

Jaycee sighed as she stood up, looking over at the crowd of walkers making their way towards them. "Guys! We need to hurry!" Jaycee yelled to them all as she made her way towards Rosita, Carl, Adeline and Madelyn-placing the explosives in the car.

"Okay. Tara, Carl, jay, Adeline and Madelyn, come on!" Rosita shouted them over, the group getting into the car as they drive towards the other cars they had moved.

They had to get the cars back to where they were before. Jaycee quickly got out of the car, pushing one of the cars Rosita was in. Then another car. Until there were no more cars to move.

The herd were getting closer to them. "In the car! Now!" Jaycee yelled over at them, pushing them all into the car as the walkers made their way over to them.

Jaycee got into the drivers seat as everyone got in back, wheeling up the windows as the walkers crowded the car.

Rick and Michonne drove on either side, knocking down the walkers before running towards the car they were all in, knocking down the walkers as Adeline opened the car door for them.

"Go!" Rick told Jaycee as Jaycee quickly pressed her foot on the peddle, moving the gear stick and driving over the walkers.

When they were away from the scene, an explosive was set off, making everyone look over their shoulders.

"And kaboom." Jaycee mumbled as she rested her free hand on her head.

"Yeah, I didn't like the look of that shit at all." Rosita said from beside Jaycee, shaking her head.

The group had all made their back to Alexandria. But they had Madelyn. Who need to go back to hilltop. And the savioursโ€”who were on their merrily little wayโ€”knew who she was and where she was from.

Tobin opened the gates for them as they walked in. "Loose the car?" He asked them as Rick shook his head.

"Uh, it's somewhere safe." Rick told him as Jaycee turned to Madelyn.

"Come on, let's get you to my house, you'll be safe there." Jaycee nodded her head to Madelyn, who nodded hers, quickly following Jaycee as they made their way to her house.

Madelyn looked around in awe of Alexandria, Jaycee pulling her into the house as cars were heard pulling up. "What if they find me?" Madelyn asked with a worried look.

"They won't. But if they do, but listen to me, they sure as hell won't, I'll think of something." Jaycee patted her shoulder. "Make yourself at home, you need food, there is some in the fridge and the cabinets, and there is a room upstairs you can lock from the inside, if anyone comes near this house, go in there." Jaycee quickly told her as she exited the house, jogging back over to see the Saviours cars pull up.

Jaycee returned to Adeline's and Rositas side, walking over to Simon and his men. "Rick! Hello!" Simon grinned as he raised his arms, the groups meeting half way. "And...hello again."

"We thought it'd be longer." Rick said to Simon, tilting his head.

"Do you think we're here for tribute?" Simon asked, the grin not leaving his face. Jaycee crossed her arms over her chest, bitting down in her tongue as she eyed the Saviours. "Do you?"

"Is there another reason?" Rick asked, acting confused, like they didn't know the Saviour's were here for Daryl.

"There is. We're here for Daryl." Simon said as Rick frowned.

"Negan took Daryl." Rick said in an obvious toneโ€”Simon walking closer to him.

"Oh, but...then your son and her daughter showed up, Daryl went missing...might those two things be connected?" Simon held his hands out, doing a circular motion with them.

"They're not." Rick said, sternly. "We didn't know he was gone till right now."

"Then this should be easy." Simon grinned as he placed his hands on his hips. "Now, everyone find a buddy. Gonna have to follow us around. If he's here, we really need you all to see him die." He said as he turned to his people, then walking forwards, looking over at Carl and flipping his hat.

They clearly didn't find Daryl, and they didn't find Madelyn either, the girl hiding herself in Jaycee's closet with a packet of chips.

Then they found out Gabriel was missing. The pantry was cleared out and took a car. There was no lead to where he had gone.

That was until Rick had found a note he had left. So, a few of them had decided to go find him.

And Jaycee decided to take Madelyn back to hilltop on her own. Rick had let her take a car, making sure Adeline stayed at home with Judith.

Jaycee tapped the wheel with her finger, her arm leaning on the window as she looked over at Madelyn, who had her legs close to her chest.

"You doin' okay, kid?" Jaycee asked her as Madelyn lifted her head off of her arms, turning to Jaycee.

"Yeah. I haven't been out this long in a while. Just small and short trips to the Kingdom, always with Jesus." Madelyn shrugged her shoulders as she held onto one of her bracelet.

"He's a good person, ain't he." Jaycee softly smiled as Madelyn grinned, turning to her. "He stuck up for Maggie and Sasha."

"Yeah. He's good." Madelyn hummed, looking out of the window. "Always been there for me, since the start."

"How old were you when the world went to absolute shit?" Jaycee asked, turning to Madelyn.

"Uh, I was about to start collage." Madelyn softly smiled, turning back to Jaycee. "I wanted to be a marine biologist. I know, such a big dream for a girl like me." Madelyn let out a chuckle, pushing her hair behind her ear.

"No, no. It's good to have big dreams. It gets you places." Jaycee smiled as she turned to face the road.

"What about you? What did you do?" Madelyn asked as Jaycee bit her bottom lip, tilting her head.

"Well, my story ain't all sunshine and rainbows, kid. But, Adeline changed the world for me. That girl was the highlight of my lifeโ€”always will be." Jaycee softly smiled at the thought of her daughter. "It was just me and her. I made sure she had a good life, always playing with the next door neighbours kid, Carl. Going to go meet friends and school activities."

"Wait, so you two knew Rick and Carl before this whole started." Jaycee let out a small gasp, fully turning to Jaycee, who grinned.

"Yep. Officer friendly and the freckled kid, that's what Adeline use to call them." Jaycee chuckled at the memory, leaning her head on her hands. "I use to baby sit Carl when his mom and dad were out. The havoc the two caused." Jaycee shook her head. "God, Rick use to tip me extra, even when I told him he didn't have to pay."

"God, I cannot imagine baby Carl and Adeline." Madelyn chuckled as she shook her head. "It's a shame they can't be like that no more."

"Yeah. Judith won't get to experience that." Jaycee frowned slightly as they pulled up to the gates of Hilltop. "Come on, Del." Jaycee turned the cat off as the two got out, walking towards the gates.

"Holt!" A man yelled out at the two, making Jaycee sigh, rubbing her forehead as she turned to Madelyn.

"This dude serious?" Jaycee mumbled as Madelyn chuckled. "It's Jaycee and Madelyn, I brought her back home, safe and sound. I ain't here to hurt ya or take half of your stuff, dingbat!" Jaycee breathed out as the gates opened, Jesus, Maggie, Sasha and Enid all there. "Thank you." She told the man as the pair walked towards the group.

Madelyn instantly went over to Jesus, pulling him into a hug as Jaycee moved towards the other three. "Now here are some faces I am happy to see." Jaycee grinned as she pulled them all into separate hugs.

"Sasha and Jesus told us what happened." Maggie held onto her arm as she looked over at Enid. "We have explosives."

"You Damn right we have explosives. Those sorry shits won't know what hit 'em." Jaycee grinned as she turned to Madelyn and Jesus. "They came looking for Daryl, ransacked Alexandria. Didnt find this little treasure." She pointed to Madelyn, who grinned. "Oh, and she's obsessed with cheese and onion chips, so." Jaycee shrugged her shoulders as Madelyn pulled an offensive place. "I need to go back now, there's another idiot back home."

"Who?" Sasha frowned as Jaycee let out a huff, hands on her hips.

"Our lord and saviour lover. Gabriel. Man took all our shit from the pantry and left. Rick and some others are out looking for him." Jaycee told them as their faces dropped. "Anyways, I'll be on my merrily little way." Jaycee placed her hands off of her hips and hugged them all goodbye.

"Cee, wait." Madelyn walked over to her as she pulled one of the many bracelets off of her wrist, holding it out for Jaycee and placing it in the older woman's palm. "I want you to have it."

Jaycee grinned as she looked down at her hand, the red and black charmed bracelet in her hand. "Thank you, del." Jaycee pulled her into a hug, placing the bracelet on her wrist. "I'll cherish it forever."
