"FUCK," Demeter mumbled as she got out of bed, hitting her alarm clock so it would hopefully turn off. Her mother was at work and her sister was god knows where.

Slowly she trudged down stairs after getting ready, with her bookbag in hand. Today would be her first day at Derry High, though it being two months until school came to a close.

She put a piece of bread in the toaster laying out on the counter, before getting some orange juice in the fridge. The toast popped out in no time to which she lathered a load of butter onto it and ate it with the orange juice.

And by the time she finished, it was time to head out the door to get the bus to school. As she did, she got a few looks but they weren't mean as she expected, rather curious stares.

She watched as several people loaded onto the bus from the countless stops and wondered if there would even be enough time to get there with so many people aboard. She also thought the bus was quite loud compared to her last school.

When the bus arrived at the school, Demeter was so excited. Mostly because she knew that she would not have to see half those people for the rest of the day.

"HEY! ELENA WAS IT?" A girl with curly brown hair walked up to Demeter, bubblegum being chewed with her teeth.

"Just, call me Demeter," She smiled, as best as she could.

"Yeah so I'm having this party tonight and you're the new big thing so I'd love if you could come?"

The big new thing? No ma'am. Demeter did not want to be that. Actually, she was more surprised after being bullied her whole life.

"Um, yeah of course."

"Great, the party starts at seven." No address? Demeter guessed she would just have to ask around.

She quickly went to her locker, collecting all her books for her next class, AP Phsyche. Along with a few mints kept inside. She put those inside her previous locker at her old school after realizing it worked wonders with the no food rule.

Closing her locker, popping a mint in her mouth, she walked down the hallway expecting to go to her class but she unexpectedly ran into someone.

"You should watch out where you're going, Sweetheart." A tall boy spoke down to her. He had dark hair and was carrying a lighter. Demeter nodded before fearfully scurrying away.

DEMETER FIXED HER hair for what seemed like the fiftieth time. She left it with most of it swipped to the other side, so one side had more hair than the other without being all the way flat.

Her makeup was put on perfectly, as it always was, but with a bit more flare to the eyes. And her outfit was stolen from her stoner sister who knew how to have a good time.

Quickly, she grabbed a purse, looking at the time. It was about seven-thirty which meant she would be late without being offensive, and she also wouldn't be the first one there.

Heading downstairs she could hear her mom in the kitchen, slowly turning that way. "Are you- what are you wearing?!" Her mother yelled, obviously shocked by the get-up.

"It's from Carly's closet. I'm going to a party."

Her mother let out a deep sigh, looking at the lovely dinner in front of her put to waste. "Fine. Have fun."

"Thanks mom!" Demeter smiled, giving her mother a big hug before grabbing her car keys and heading out the door. She drove to the address given to her by a fellow classmate (not the girl that invited her). Though she would have found it anyways. It was a few blocks from her own house with a ton of cars parked out the front and the back. The sign on the mailbox read Greta's Party. No invation, no coming in. That was a lot of invitations.

━━━━━

HENRY SCOWLED AS he walked into the house. No invitation, no coming in. What a joke. There was no one carding him at the front door for an invitation. He just wanted to go in, find what he was looking for, and leave.

"Henry, nice to see you." Greta smiled flirtatiously at the boy. She had wanted him for months.

"Go away, Greta." He pushed her a bit, which made hee mad but she choose to ignore the hate towards her.

"No invitation, no entry. I don't remember inviting you."

"Like you don't want us here." Patrick Hockstetter replied from behind Henry.

"Well no, I don't want you here Hocketetter." She sassed back.

Henry gave them both a look before continuing his conversation, "Cut the crap, where's the new girl?"

"She hasn't co-" Greta looked towards the door as she walked in. And she had the audacity to look better than Greta at her own party.

━━━━━

EVERYONE WAS LOOKING at her. She thought it was because she was new and that was some of the reason. But that outfit she wore was driving everyone mad, especially the girls. Boys were almost drooling at her feet. And for once, she felt like she could rule the world. The dress showed off her curves perfectly.

The girl that had invited her, who she now knew as Greta looked dumbstruck and for a moment Demeter felt bad showing her up at her own party, but that soon went away.

Demeter headed straight for the kitchen, which was fortunately was on the right side of her, not in front where everyone was. As soon as she found the drinks, she got herself a beer and opened it to drink it.

She had a few boys ask her for her number as she walked around to look for something to eat. And for the second time that day she bumped into someone.

"Sorry." She mumbled, and then looked up at the person.

"We have got to stop running into each other like this," his cunning smile appearing on his face like the cheshire cat. But he did run into her on purpose, only he knew that. "Let me get you a drink to make it up to you."

She laughed at him sounding like such a gentleman, he sounded like he belonged at a bar. "I already have one."

"Another beer never hurts." So they went into the kitchen together as she downed her first beer and proceeded to grab another.

In the kitchen, the boy ran into (not literally) another with a red shirt on, who kept eyeing Demeter. "Oh, sweetheart, I realise I haven't told you my name yet," there it was again, the nickname. "I'm Patrick."

"Well sorry again for literally running into you twice today Patrick. I'm Elena but you can call me Demeter."

Demeter watched as Patrick slightly elbowed the other boy, broken from his gaze on the girl. "Yeah, and I'm Henry."

"Nice to meet you both." Demeter smiled, turning to walk away but instead collided with none other than Greta herself.

"You bitch!" Greta yelled, her light pink shirt now covered with a red liquid. Demeter widened her eyes and apologized profusely to make up for it, but it was not enough.

"First you show up, dressing me up at my own party! And then you hang out with them," she pointed behind Demeter to Patrick and Henry, "and now you ruin the shirt that could never compare with yours!"

"Look, I'm sorry. I - I didn't know you were - I'm sorry." Greta slapped Demeter across the face, pushing her out the door of her house.

"You will see me at school tomorrow, and you should be scared." The door slammed shut, leaving Demeter outside and a sad excuse to go home early.
