Katherine Pierce had the perfect plan set in motion, find the moonstone, get a vampire and a werewolf. Of course Mason Lockwood was her werewolf, a man she made sure triggered his curse all so she could gain her freedom. Caroline Forbes was rather easy to kill and make into a vampire.

All that left was the moonstone and she would be a free of Klaus Mikaelson. Of course when her werewolf is killed she sets her eyes on Tyler Lockwood a boy she could easily force to trigger his curse by having him kill an easy target.

However for precautions she made sure to target his younger brother as well. The boy who was always left out of things for no reason, he was easy to manipulate. The blood on his hands was all because of Katherine Pierce whispering into his ear.

She had everything planned perfectly, she had her vampire. She had two werewolf's just in case Damon Salvatore tried killing yet another one, now she needed the moonstone. When her entire plan fails and she realizes she isn't even free at all, she keeps going.

She is a survivor after all, of course she didn't think she'd fall so damn hard for Thomas Lockwood, he was meant to die, meant to be the sacrifice. And no matter what she did, she couldn't stop thinking about him, maybe for once she could have a life.
