A/n: I do think it's really funny how 90% of the fanart with Kuroo in it is him being like the definition of sex appeal, but while he is hot, he's such a freaking nerd and I love it-

Prompt: Kuroo and (Y/n) are lab partners, and they both happen to have a major crush on each other

Warning: some really corny puns...

Chemistry was your favorite subject in school, but not solely because of the content you learned in class. Chemistry was your favorite subject due to your lab partner. At first, you were devised that your teacher assigned your partner was Tetsuro Kuroo. You knew him as the captain of the boy's volleyball team; he was a jock. Or, at least, that's what you thought...

As it turns out, Kuroo was actually a total nerd! Kuroo had straight A's and a love for science-related jokes, just like you did. It surprised you to find out how much you both enjoyed the class. You and Kuroo had been lab partners since the beginning of the year and were willing to admit to yourself you were crushing on Kuroo. Massively.

"Hey, (Y/n)," Kuroo greeted, appearing beside you. You had just left the school building as Kuroo joined you, a very rare occurrence.

"Hey," You responded with a smile. "No Kenma today?"

"He's going to hang out with his friend Shoyo, which is highly unusual," Kuroo explained with a shrug. "So, I've got no one to keep me company!" The expression Kuroo wore didn't tell you he was distraught about it, rather, he was extending an invitation for you to keep him company instead. You shook your head with a grin.

"I suppose then I have no choice but to take his place," You said playfully. Kuroo chuckled softly and you both started to leave the school premises together. Kuroo was a bit quiet at first, seeming to keep his hands in his pockets and avoiding eye-contact. You thought it was odd, but you did not bring it up.

"I've got something to tell you," Kuroo suddenly piped up.

"Let's hear it, then," You mused, looking at your crush with curious eyes. Kuroo hesitated, a wave of doubt crashing over him. Kuroo knew he would always kick himself looking back at this moment if he chickened out now. Kuroo cleared his throat.

"If you were an element you'd be francium because you're the most attractive," Kuroo stated. You felt your face flush and you instinctively burst out into laughter. You genuinely thought he was joking, knowing how much you loved the puns. Kuroo smiled, his typical confidence returning.

"I mean, I must be a diamond because you gave me a hardness of ten," Kuroo continued, making you blush brighter. Kuroo started to laugh along with you, glad he could make you laugh. However, his goal was not to just make you laugh.

"You're actually really funny, Kuroo," You sighed, your fit of laughter dying down.

"I'm serious, (Y/n)," Kuroo said, a very sincere tone to his voice. "I'm so attracted to you, scientists are going to have to create a fifth fundamental force." You chuckled again, enjoying the slight ache to your cheeks from smiling so much.

"How do you come up these?" You inquired, whipping a tear from your eye. Kuroo shrugged.

"It's not that difficult," He admitted a bit sheepishly. "It's easy, because... I really do like you, (Y/n)." You paused, your smile faltering.

"What?" You asked your voice nothing more than a hushed whisper.

"I want to take you out on a date," Kuroo told you. "Just give me a chance, and I swear I'll make it worth your time. I really have feelings for you, (Y/n)." You were shocked. You and Kuroo got along swimmingly ever since you realized you were wrong about your initial judgment of him. The boy you had such an immense crush on just asked you to go on a date on with. You struggled to respond properly, but you had an idea as to how.

"Are you a non-volatile particle?" You asked, giving Kuroo a turn to look confused, then you dawned a smirk. "Because you raise my boiling point." Kuroo laughed, a little unclear if you accepted his offer. He kept the confused expression, which looked rather cute on him.

"You still looked confused," You pointed out. "How about we go back to my place and form a covalent bond?" You and Kuroo both laughed again, a mutual appreciation for each other's nerdiness going nonverbally acknowledged. "But in all seriousness, I would love to go on a date with you Kuroo." He grinned and took your hand in his.

"I'm really happy to hear that," Kuroo confessed, relief settling in. "So, I guess you could say... we have chemistry together?"

"That was too far."
