Periods have been considered to be "whispered" in places, it's about time someone makes a stand against it.

We, women, have periods. And it's nothing to be ashamed of. It happens to every girl in the world, so that's that. Blood flows from your hoo-ha, nothing funny. Cramps, headache, blood, whatnot.

Someone tells us her brothers laugh at her for having periods.

A girl also told us, boys, laughter girls in their class at girls who argue by saying, "Is it someone's time of the month?"'

Do you know what my, Andra Malfoy's, reply would have been? Here,

"Oh dear, is it your time of the month? You seem a little bit weaky and peaky. And girls have feelings too, you useless shame-to-your-family-name git, boy. "

Then I would slap the boy and go on my way.

But some girls are not as downright and scathing as me, so here is this book for them. I don't have my period yet, but I think I'll have it soon enough. But Violet here does have her period. And she can relate to the girls who have their period.

So we, Girls Unite, will help girls (and boys) to understand that periods aren't shameful - they're a natural part of life.
