"murphy isn't earth just beautiful?" arabella grinned as she picked a flower.

"sure is." murphy replied. "let's get back to camp." he threw his arm around the smaller girl.

when murphy and arabella arrived back at camp they were both instantly swarmed by who seemed to be murphy's friends, even though he didn't have any.

"c'mon bella." murphy practically dragged arabella over to where clarke griffin, wells jaha and jasper jordan, a friend of arabell's before she got locked up

"woah, hey, hey, hey." murphy gained the three's attention. "hands off he's with us."

jasper moved backwards behind murphy and next to arabella.

"hey jasper, you alright?" arabella asked the boy, placing her hand on his shoulder.

"i'm alright arabella, thank you." he smiled, at the girl.

she sent him a nod and stood next to murphy, her arms crossed over her chest.

"relax" wells put his hands up in defence. "we're just trying to figure out where we are." he looked to clarke then back to arabella and murphy.

"we're on the ground is that not good enough for you?" bellamy chimed in from behind murphy and arabella.

"we need to find mount weather." wells sighed, clarke, following behind. "you heard my father's message. that has to be our first priority."

"screw your father," octavia argued, making arabella look back and smirk at the girl. "what? you think you're in charge here? you and your little princess?"

arabella had a proud smile on her face, the girl could tell she and octavia were going to be great friends.

"you think we care who's in charge? we need to get to mount weather." clarke spoke with a strong voice. "not because the chancellor said so, but because the longer we wait, the hungrier we'll get and the harder this is going to be. how long do you think we are going to last without those supplies? we're looking at a twenty-mile trek, okay? if we wanna get there before dark, we need to leave. now." she finished, glancing at arabella for help.

arabella sighed. "she's right. we need supplies and we need them now."

"i've got a better idea, you three go for us. let the privileged do the work for a change." bellamy snapped. people began to cheer.

"excuse me?" arabella scoffed, her jaw slacked open and angry look taking over her face. "you must be joking."

bellamy glanced at the girl and shrugged, making arabella scoff again

"you're not listening. we all need to go." wells announced, glancing at all the people around him.

"well look at this everybody," murphy spoke as he pushed wells forward. "chancellor of earth." many laughs were heard from the crowds.

arabella stood and watched, just like everyone else. but wells' father was the reason murphy didn't have parents, he was also one of the reasons arabella didn't have a mother.

"you think that's funny?" wells asked.

murphy lunged forward putting his foot behind wells' making him fall backwards.

"wells!" clarke worriedly shouted trying to help him up but getting held back by arabella. "leave it, clarke. last time i heard you hated wells anyway?." arabella muttered into the girl's ear.

wells slowly got back up onto his feet limping towards murphy putting his fists up. murphy teased the boy. "c'mon, c'mon."

wells backed up when a boy with longish hair jumped down off the dropship, walking up to murphy. "kids got one leg, how about you wait till it's a fair fight."

octavia walked up to the boy. "hey spacewalker, rescue me next." she flirted.

arabella finally let go of clarke, the girl instantly went to check on wells. murphy walked away, his little minions following. arabella walked over to where octavia was standing with bellamy.

"what?" octavia asked bellamy. "he's cute." she added, making arabella chuckle.

"he's a criminal," bellamy told his little sister.

"they're all criminals." octavia deadpanned.

"bellamy, let her live a little, be grateful we didn't die on the way down here," arabella spoke giving him a look.

"not helping, sweetheart." he rolled his eyes jokingly.

"look o." bellamy grabbed her arm, and then octavia grabbed arabella's arm making her stumble slightly.

"i came down here to protect you," he told her.

"i don't need protecting. i've been locked up one way or another my whole life, i am done following orders. i need to have fun bell, I need to just do something crazy, just because i can, and no one, including you, is gonna stop me." octavia sassed, pulling arabella closer to her.

"if you want my opinion, which you probably don't, i think octavia can look after herself perfectly fine, with a bit of help from me of course." arabella gave bellamy a sweet smile.

"see bell, she gets it." octavia pointed to her new friend.

"arabella, stay here we'll be back," bellamy told the girl.

before she could say anything bellamy was dragging octavia away to speak with her privately.

"and they're gone." she muttered.

when bellamy and octavia finished their talk, octavia brought arabella over to where clarke, wells, finn, jasper, and monty were all standing.

"sounds like a party. we're in. make it seven." octavia put her arm around arabella.

"i was gonna come anyway, i don't really feel like dying from starvation." arabella looked over at the group.

bellamy came up behind the two girls. "hey what the hell are you doing?" he asked them.

"we're going on a walk bellamy." arabella stated, glancing up at him.

"hey." clarke walked up to finn and looked at his wristband. "were you trying to take this off?" she asked.

"yeah. so?" finn asked, making a face at clarke.

"so? this wristband transmits your vital signs to the ark. take it off and they think you're dead," she informed the small group.

arabella stared up at bellamy who seemed to be deep in thought, they were both thinking of the same thing. take off the wristbands, the ark won't come down. arabella was all for helping to get supplies but the girl never wanted to see her father again, she never wanted to have people in charge of her again.

"i know what you're thinking, 'cause i'm thinking the same thing." arabella whispered to bellamy, he gave her a weird look. "don't give me that look. you don't want the ark to come down and i'm gonna figure out why." she mischievously smiled.

"okay. now let's go." clarke said to the group. finn, jasper, monty then clarke started walking, and arabella stayed back with octavia and bellamy. octavia smiled at her brother waiting for permission to leave.

"go on." he nodded in the group's direction, octavia reached up kissing bellamy on the cheek and went after everyone, arabella began to follow until bellamy grabbed her wrist pulling her back towards him.

"look after her for me, please." he told the girl, looking down at her with concern for octavia.

"i will, she seems to be the only person who actually likes me. i'll protect her with my life." arabella smiled, running after octavia.

arabella walked next to octavia, who was next to clarke.

"before you get any ideas, finn's mine," octavia told clarke.

"before you get any ideas, i don't care," clarke replied sassily.

the group were walking in a forest, arabella was behind with monty and jasper, finn and octavia in front of them, then obviously clarke at the front leading the group.

finn picked a purple flower, turning to octavia and putting it into her hair.

"now that my friend is game." jasper smirked at his best friend, pointing at finn and octavia.

"that my friend is poison sumac." monty informed picking up two of the flowers and giving one of them to arabella.

"what? it is?" octavia quickly brushed it out of her brown hair.

"the flowers aren't poisonous, they're medicinal. calming actually." he stated as he ate the flower. arabella furrowed her eyebrows at the flower eventually putting it in her mouth and eating it.

"tastes... planty." arabella muttered.

"his family grows all the pharmaceuticals on the ark." jasper told them.

"what the hell does pharmaceu-" arabella tried to speak before getting interrupted by clarke.

"hey, guys. would you try to keep up?" clarke asked in annoyance.

"c'mon clarke. how do you block all this out?" finn asked the blonde girl.

"it's simple. i wonder why haven't we seen any animals. maybe it's because there are none. maybe we've all been exposed to enough radiation to kill us. sure is pretty though." she ranted. arabella rolled her eyes.

"we just wanna have a bit of fun before we possibly die, clarke." arabella scoffed, octavia nodding a the girl. clarke just muttered a 'c'mon' walking away.

"someone should slip her some poison sumac." octavia mumbled to finn and arabella, making them both let out a small laugh.

...

"i gotta know what you two did to get busted." finn said to jasper and monty.

"sumac's not the only herb in the garden. if you know what i mean." monty answered, giving arabella a knowing look, making her laugh.

"someone forgot to replace what we took." jasper sighed looking at monty.

"someone's apologized like a thousand times." he shot back.

"what about you octavia and arabella? what did they get you for?" jasper asked the girls.

"oh let's see. stealing, vandalism, taking drugs from the med bay, attacking multiple guards and almost killing two of them." arabella replied counting the crimes on her fingers.

"being born." octavia bluntly stated walking away from the four when she saw clarke knelt on the ground ushering the others to come to her, arabella quickly following octavia.

arabella knelt next to clarke, who had her finger up to her lips, telling everyone to be quiet. the girl let out a quiet gasp, she was amazed at what was in front of her, it was a deer.

"no animals, huh?" finn teased clarke.

finn crouched over to get closer to the deer, but he accidentally snapped a twig which caused the deer's attention to divert to the group. the deer had two faces the second face was all mushed up two of the eyes were almost connected, and arabella almost threw up at the sight of it.

"now that's disgusting," she gagged.

the deer quickly ran off into the forest leaving everyone shocked at what they had just seen.

"you know what i'd like to know?" finn began. "why send us down today? after ninety-seven years. what changed?"

"who cares? i'm just glad they did. i woke up rotting in a cell. now i'm spinning in a forest." octavia spun around a tree trying to get finn's attention, but the boy's attention was on clarke

"i'm just glad they didn't choose to do it tomorrow, otherwise i would be dead and i wouldn't be able to be here." arabella laughed bitterly. everyone stopped in their tracks.

"wait you're eighteen tomorrow?" jasper asked her.

"unfortunately, yes." arabella sadly smiled at him. "i probably wouldn't even have gotten reviewed, straight to the airlock and with one push of a button i'd be gone, and what makes it even better is that it would've been my father pushing the button. just like the bastard did to my mother." she sneered.

"hard life huh?" finn asked the girl who had an angry look in her eyes.

"yeah, no shit, spacewalker." she rolled her eyes.

"maybe they found something on the satellite, you know? like an old weather satellite or-" monty couldn't finish his sentence because clarke interrupted him.

"it wasn't a satellite. the ark is dying." she began, everyone stopping in their tracks once again. "with the current population level, there's roughly three months left of life support. maybe four now that we're gone." she finished.

finn walked up next to clarke. "so that was the secret that you had to keep? why they kept you in solitary," he asked. "floated your old man."

"my father was the engineer who discovered the flaw, he thought the people had a right to know. the council disagreed, my... mother disagreed. they were afraid it would cause a panic." clarke explained to the group. "we were gonna go public anyway when wells..."

"what? turned in your dad?" finn asked.

"anyway, the guard showed up before we could." she sighed. "that's why today." Clarke shrugged. "that's why it was worth the risk. even if we all die at least they bought themselves some more time."

"they are so selfless, i love it." arabella sarcastically spoke, rolling her eyes.

"they're gonna kill more people, aren't they?" monty questioned. when clarke didn't answer arabella put in her answer.

"ff it's chancellor jaha and my dad deciding? then yes they probably will." arabella scoffed.

octavia jumped off a small ledge. "good." she smiled. "after what they did to me, i say float 'em' all."octavia walked away.

"you don't mean that." jasper followed after her.

"well i agree with octavia, i don't care about anyone up there." arabella scoffed. "i have nobody up there." she walked away after octavia and jasper.

arabella stumbled back a little when she walked into jasper.

"i love earth." jasper gave arabella a boyish smile, she looked over his shoulder seeing octavia undressing herself to jump into the water. arabella ran over to octavia, taking her clothes off too, and standing next to octavia who was looking over the ledge.

"arabella! octavia! what the hell are you doing?" clarke shouted at the girls.

the girls turned to each other and smirked, octavia grabbed arabella's hand, and then they both jumped into the water. the others ran over to the ledge on the small cliff and saw arabella and octavia with their faces barely above the water.

"girls! we can't swim." monty shouted.

"no, but we can stand." octavia smirked standing up and letting out a giggle.

arabella also stood up, splashing octavia, the two began to splash each other back and forth. everyone else began to take off their clothes.

"octavia. arabella get out of the water." jasper told them, a panicked look on his face.

arabella furrowed her brows turning around, something was coming towards them.

"get out of the water now!" clarke yelled.

the creature went straight for octavia dragging her under the water.

"octavia!" arabella screamed. "shit!"

there was no sign of the girl arabella's mouth was agape she didn't know what to do. suddenly, octavia appeared thrashing around in the water. arabella attempted to swim over to her, kicking her legs slowly and making her way over to the girl. the creature's attention was now on arabella, she had realized if she carried on moving one of the others could save Octavia.

arabella continued kicking her legs, she let out a scream when she felt a large painful scratch on her thigh. it was now dragging arabella underwater and across the lake, the creature suddenly let go of arabella. thankfully she was closer to where octavia was, she felt arms wrap around her and then felt herself on a large rock.

she and octavia were heavily breathing water almost pouring out their mouths, arabella groaned loudly when she touched the deep cut on her thigh. clarke noticed both of the girls' wounds and quickly tore two pieces of Jasper's shirt tying it above arabella's wound first because hers was deeper and was bleeding a lot more, then she tied it around octavia's.

jasper was in between arabella and octavia, and both of the girls hugged him muttering 'thank you' to the boy multiple times.

"note to self: next time, save the girls." monty smiled, making everyone laugh.

the group had settled in a small clearing, arabella's head was laid on octavia's stomach, jasper, monty, finn, and clarke slightly spread out. she was quietly sleeping letting out small snores once in a while.

arabella heard loud bangs on her door, waking her and murphy up.

"arabella kane come with us please." the guard walked over to where she was lying pulling her out of the bed.

"no! you can't take her. please!" murphy shouted trying to get to arabella but being held back by a second guard.

"murphy! murphy, it's okay. it's my time, i'm paying for the things i've done, murphy please... please remember.. remember i love you okay? so much. i couldn't have asked for a better best friend these past few years. i love you." arabella cried as she was dragged away.

" bella! bella no." he screamed trying to go after her, he had realized he had lost her and she wasn't coming back.

arabella stood meters away from the airlock, refusing to walk into it, a guard pushed her in knocking her over. she watched her father with no emotion on his face.

"i'm sorry sweetheart. but you have to pay for your crimes." marcus stated.

"float me. just get it over with." arabella cried. "i hate you."

"as you wish." he pushed the button that closed the airlock, then the one that would send her into oblivion.

...

arabella shot up gasping for air, she had to cover her mouth to quiet her sobs. her muffled cries woke up octavia, who hugged her friend tightly, she softly rubbed her back calming the girl down.

"you're okay, it's okay." she whispered to her.

"my- my father. he- float- floated me." she quietly cried into octavia's arms.

"it wasn't real, arabella, you're okay." octavia soothed the girl.

...

morning came and the group was still trying to find mount weather, they came across a large vine which they would swing across to get to the other side of the lake.

"you wanted to go first, now quit stalling. mount weather awaits." clarke told finn who was 'testing' the large vine.

jasper had whispered something to finn. "the apache? like the indians?" finn asked.

"apogee not apache," Jasper corrected him.

"he knows. today finn." clarke urged the boy.

"aye, aye captain." finn saluted the girl. "see you on the other side." he whispered to jasper.

jasper had noticed how arabella and octavia were intently watching finn, who was about to swing across the lake.

"wait!" jasper stopped him. "let me."

arabella gave jasper a large smile, and so did octavia.

finn nodded and handed the vine to jasper. "i knew there was a badass in there somewhere." finn smacked his chest.

jasper looked at the two girls once more before swinging to the other side. letting go and falling onto a large rock.

the group ran to the edge of the small cliff to see if jasper was okay. The boy stood up shouting. " we are the apogee!"

"yeah!" everyone cheered.

"let's go, princess. you're up." finn smiled at clarke, handing her the vine.

"c'mon clarke! you go this. wooo." jasper shouted. "apogee." he shouted again, dragging out the 'e'.

jasper then picked up a sign. "we did it!" he shouted. "mount weather!" the boy lifted the sign.

arabella cheered once more. suddenly, a spear of some sort was thrown across the lake hitting jasper straight in the chest.

"jasper!" arabella screamed, her hands covering her mouth in shock. "jasper! no!" the girls screams muffled.

arabella was frozen, monty and octavia had to drag her away from the edge, and she finally snapped out of it and hid away from the trees.

"we're not alone." clarke shakily told them.

"yeah, no shit." arabella sneered, her voice cracking slightly.
