ALL HE COULD THINK ABOUT WAS WHY? WHY WAS HE HERE?

People rubbing against one another. Flashing lights. Loud music. He didn't even like those things. He was an introvert and he was at a club, of course he wasn't here willingly. Shin was dragged here by his class and now, he didn't really know what to do. All he could think about was leaving. Until he saw her. Amidst the dark hairs and the dyed ones, there was one particular girl that caught his eye, she had white hair, like him and teal highlights. She was absolutely beautiful. He was immediately captivated and for the rest of the night, his eyes were hers.

He was by the bar for most of the night, taking sips of his cranberry vodka and when he went to order his second one, his eyes left her figure for a moment and she was gone. Until she wasn't.

"Whiskey and coke! Please!"

Shin jumped at the sudden sound of her voice and he felt his heart shoot out of his chest, he'd taken too long in contemplating whether or not to talk to her that she'd gone before he could say a word. He didn't even know what to say, but he wanted to talk to her.

It was another few hours before she was finally leaving, and with a boy no less, not to mention she was unconscious. He was a little sad, but at least he could finally leave. He'd only stayed for her anyways. From that night, he'd concluded that the male that towered over her was her friend. He could just tell from the way they interacted, but the red haired boy seemed like he wanted something more.

Shin hoped they'd meet again one day.

MONTHS PASSED BY AND FINALLY, IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF UNIVERSITY.

He saw her again, by some twist of fate. He'd seen her again. At the same university he was attending, it was destiny. He was so distracted by her that he'd bumped into a group of what looked to be snotty brats. "Sorry."

"Uh, yeah you better fucking be sorry! I mean I almost spilled my coffee, in my white valentino bag! And from the looks of it, you couldn't have paid it off!"

"I said sorry..." He mumbled, not meeting their eyes.

"Pfft, what's with your hair grandpa?"

"Yeah, are you ageing?"

"Or just old?"

"Kind of ugly..."

Shin felt their condescending laughter echoing in his ears and suddenly, it felt like high school over again. He really didn't want to have a shitty university experience too. He'd thought that he'd finally gotten away from his tormentors, but he'd gained new ones.

As if he wasn't sad enough.

Chiharu, even from afar, could hear their hyena like laughter. It annoyed her. And when she saw that they were bullying him, the white haired girl walked over to them, the same stoic expression on her face as she wedged herself in between them, "why don't you leave him alone? It's only the first day of classes, give the guy a break." She didn't even flinch when she felt a stinging sensation on her cheek. She'd been slapped. Hard.

"Don't meddle with someone else's business! I hate people like you, hmph." She scowled, eyeing the girl up and down. "You just made a powerful enemy, remember the name Arina! You weird oldies can stick together. Let's go boys."

Her half lidded teal coloured eyes watched as Arina and her boys walked away before she turned to face him, "are you okay?"

"I— I should be asking you that!" Shin uttered out, glancing at her cheek. "It looks like she didn't hit you too hard," he placed a hand on her cheek, gently rubbing the red spot on her cheek with his thumb. "It shouldn't bruise too much, just a little red.." When he noticed her dull teal eyes staring at him, he flushed. "Why did you help me anyways?"

"You looked like you needed it. And, I dislike bullies," she mumbled, staring into his eyes, the corner of her lips twitching up slightly. "Mint."

"What?"

"You have mint coloured eyes. It's nice."

"O— oh! Thanks..." He rubbed the back of his neck shyly. "I'm Shin."

"Chiharu."

AND OVER THE COURSE OF FOUR YEARS, THEY GREW CLOSE. He was her best friend and she was his everything.

Shin loved to spend time with her, especially when she was writing. She always looked so focused and even though they weren't doing the same course, they still hung out. In fact, they spent the majority of their time on campus together.

Of course, there was still Arina and her group, but, Chiharu knew how to deal with them and after a year or so, the white haired male finally had the confidence to do so as well. And it was all thanks to her. Being with her brought to up his self esteem, his confidence and self worth.

"Haru, careful where you're walking." Shin placed his hands on her shoulders, steering her away from a pole. "You get even more distracted when you're reading a book, you don't want to bruise your face, do you?"

"But, I have you to steer me away," she said, glancing at him then back at her book.

His lips curved upwards into a small smile, "you do." Always.
