(F/n's POV)

Beacon Academy, a school that is meant to train future Huntsmen to defend Humanity from the Creatures of Grimm.

I honestly hoped this place would be a chance for me to be better, different from my own parents. Unfortunately, it is not how I wanted it.

You see, others would rather just charge headfirst into battle and adapt on the fly. But, a person like me would prefer to analyze and study a situation first.

However, that only resulted in me being bullied by a majority of the student body. And it doesn't help that I'm seen as a "freakazoid" due my almost-unnatural research when it came to Grimm or emotions. It just came natural to me.

Still though, I put up with it for one reason...finding *my* path.

(No One's POV)

F/n was seen waking up in his single-man dorm after yet another night of straining himself over his work. Empty cans of coffee and crumpled balls of paper were sufficient evidence of how much he pushes himself, but that was the least of his problems.

F/n: *Damn it! I'm gonna be late again!*

Quickly hurrying to his bathroom, he cleaned the important parts of his body and gotten in his uniform before leaving. As he dodged other students though....

???: Hey, Face Ache!

Suddenly, the back of his shirt was snatched and he was pushed against the wall, being met face-to-face with the smirking face of a golden-haired girl.

F/n: Wh-What is it now, Yang?

Yang: You know what it is, nerd. Did you do my work for Professor Oobleck?

F/n: No, I didn't....

He was suddenly slammed against the lockers, adding to his own humiliation (even though it didn't physically affect him like that).

Yang: Listen here! You're either going to make yourself useful somehow or you can suffer the consequences. Got that?

F/n only nodded in reponse. With that, the girl let go of him, walking off like a diva.

F/n: *How can I let myself get pushed around by her?*

Not wasting any more time, F/n hurried off to Port's class, only to be met with a full room.

Port: Caught up on your research again, young man?

F/n: Sir, I...

However, the elder male silenced him.

Port: Detention and extra work. Now, take a seat.

Sighing in defeat, F/n went and sat down in the seat that was in the corner and nearly dark. However, he found comfort in it, as in somewhere he can feel more open with himself.

While Port continued his "lesson", he took out one of his two journals, this one labeled "Grimm of Darkness". Its contents possessed written knowledge on the Creatures of Grimm, ones F/n himself encountered before such as the "Beowolf" and "Ursa Major".

~ Small Skip ~

In Goodwitch's class, F/n was seen pitted up against...Yang. He wielded a sword while she choose to use her own Ember Celica.

To put it briefly, F/n has had some training thanks to his time with Joan & Pyrrha. However, his lack of experience made it an obvious difference in skill.

He constantly deflected Yang's strikes with the sword, but his skill in armed combat was outmatched by her proficiency in brawling.

Bruises had decorated his skin, but...they would quickly disappear? Even when he had gotten a cut (with black blood with similar colored mist emitting from it), that healed up easily too.

However, he was quickly taken out by a straight punch to the forehead, causing his head to hit the floor hard and falling unconscious shortly after.

While Yang took pride in her victory, Goodwitch shook her head in disappointment (at both of them).

F/n woke up in the infirmary after being checked for any internal injuries. However, the nurse didn't find anything wrong with him and he was shortly dismissed.

As he felt his stomach growled, he made his way to the dining hall and gotten some food. When he tried to find a place to sit, some people gave him either weird or glaring expressions. However, he did find a spot he can take and that was with Team JNPR.

F/n: Hey, girls. Can I....

Joan: Sure, you're welcome here.

Giving a small smile, F/n set himself and his tray down. At the table, there was small talk and one exaggerated story by Nora. However, now the subject turned to F/n.

Joan: Soo...your match with Yang was entertaining.

F/n only looked at her with a face that said "Really?", causing her to regret her choice of words. A nudge under the table caused her to jump.

Pyrrha: Well, your stance was good but your timing was a bit off F/n.

F/n: Well, I'm not on your level that's for certain.

Joan: But, you can be better if you keep training.

F/n: Yes, of course.

Joan: Do you want to join me and Pyrrha later?

F/n: *sighs* No thanks. I'm actually going to take another day to myself.

Although the two looked disappointed, they did have sympathy on their faces. Of course, who doesn't see what F/n goes through yet doesn't do anything to help aside from a set few?

~ Scene Change ~

F/n was seen in his dorm later that evening, once again surrounded by pieces of paper and a can of decaf or two.

F/n: *Oobleck sures loves to give out these long essays, but Port is sure something else. How is he a Grimm Studies teacher yet the only knowledge of Grimm we get is from his "stories"?*

After taking a break to rest his knuckles, F/n took a look at both of his personal journals, the one on Grimm and another titled "E.I".

F/n: *Hmm...*

After setting aside his work, he looked through both of his books and took his time to review *his* own notes. As he looked over them over and over, he only kept on thought in mind.

F/n: *I'm going to do this my way. I don't care what my superiors say.*

Afterwards, F/n decided to just call it a night because something important was happening tomorrow. Putting his things away and cleaning up a bit, he was soon asleep in his bed.
