ㆁㅤCHAPTER 02ㅤㆁ

“Mr. Prosecutor! You are late! And this is the 3rd time this week!”

“Very bad, very bad, Hyung! We were waiting for you for so long!”

“Uhmm… I-i-i. There was an important case to handle, guys. Cut me off this ti— —”

“‘Cut me off this time. It wouldn't happen again. I promise I will come on time from tomorrow.’ That’s what you are going to say, right? No need, it had become a recorded lie of yours, Kim!”

“In my defense, I— I— Yah, Gyu-ah! Defend me, brat!”

“Sorry, I am not taught to support criminals! That's a sin for me! Tsk, tsk! Not happening!”

“Yah! You little menace! I am a criminal now, huh?! You ungrateful rat!”

“Yes, you are a criminal. You lied to my precious Angel and that's a very big crime in my eyes!”

“You are outsmarting your mentor, you disloyal shit! Now imma show you what this criminal can do.” With that, the prosecutor tackled his brother on the couch and started to tickle him.

“No, Hyunggg! Stoppp! Nooo!” The brother let out in between his laughs, his Hyung and Angel were laughing at his state as well. “Angel, helpppp!” He cried out dramatically in between.

His Angel went near both brothers, making the younger one smirk at his older brother but soon his smirk wiped out when his Angel started to tickle him as well. “Nooo! The betrayal!” He gasped out a fake hurtful scream.

“Yes! That's like my love!” The prosecutor cheered and smugly smiled at his younger brother.

“Sorry, Puppy! But I can't leave this opportunity!” Saying that both his Angel and brother kept on tickling him as he laughed his heart out making them smile at him as well.

The sound of their joyful laughs and teasing echoed in his ears. Reminiscing the laugh-filled memories of the past, the prosecutor felt his eyes brim with tears. It was like a harsh slap of reality on his face that no matter what, he could never experience those moments ever again. “They will pay. They all will. For everything they did to you. I will make them cry in blood. That's a vow!”

Mingyu entered the cabin of one of his mentors, slash seniors, and roughly put his briefcase on their table. “Arghh! Why!? Why? Why are they still freely roaming after destroying my everything?! When can I give justice to my family?!” The ravenette expressed his frustration and rage.

“Gyu-ah, calm down. I know it's tough for you to see them get away from every case. But you have to be patient and calm. You can't do anything if you are losing your mind. You have to play it wisely, kiddo.” His senior, Choi Seungcheol, a red-headed prosecutor, consoled him.

“I want to re-open Hyung’s case. It's high time they should pay for their heinous crimes.” Mingyu clenched his jaw as he uttered, his voice firm and full of determination.

“Alright, kiddo. If that's what you want. But make sure you get on the battlefield after being fully prepared. They have that cunning bastard Vantae with them as their trusted attorney. You have to use your mind more than emotions here. Put all the teaching of your Hyung and mine in this. Victory will be yours!” Seungcheol encouraged the young prosecutor who listened and nodded to his words attentively.

Soon SeungCheol gave him the case file of his brother. Along with that Mingyu also asked for the last cast file that his brother handled — the case of Lee Sunghae, brother of Minhyuk. “Thank you, Hyung. Now their countdown begins.” Mingyu smirked and left after SeungCheol wished him good luck.

Seungmin was at a bar with Vantae who was just sitting there and listening to his drunken gibberish. “I am shooo happyyyy! That Kim looked shoo defeated!” Seungmin slurred as he recalled Wonwoo's defeated face. “Vwan Hyung, you are the beshtt!” Seungmin was wasted as hell. He was barely holding himself as he swayed on Vantae's shoulder.

“Careful, bud! You are wasted as fuck!” Vantae commented as the strong smell of alcohol reeked from Seungmin who just drunkenly giggled. “But why does Mingyu hate you all so much?” Curiosity got the best of the attorney as he asked the question.

“Chu dwon know? Oopsie. How would chu!? Uncle and Dwad fled from the country after the incident. Sho no one knows what happened! Hehe!” Seungmin started to spill the beans in his wasted state.

“Tell me then,” Vantae asked, as he held the wasted male who was about to fall off.

“Shwushhhh! That's twop shikret!” Seungmin informed while he swayed again in Vantae's hold, “Bwut chu my Vwanie Hyung. My savior. Sho I bwill tell you. Uncle and Dwad kwilled his brother an— —” The drunken male fainted before he could say further. Vantae's grip on Seungmin tightened as he heard the revelation of Mingyu's brother being killed by the Lees.

“Damn! Murder! No wonder that Prosecutor hates this family.” The attorney sighed as he eyed Seungmin’s limped body, “Gosh! Now what shall I do with this wasted brat? This family is being a pain in my ass day by day.” Vantae grumbled under his breath. “But who cares as long as my pocket is getting filled.” The attorney shrugged as he carried the unconscious male out of the bar to drop him at his house.

Mingyu, in his study room, studied through the case files of Lee Sunghae. He was trying his best to gather as many details as possible to take the Lee family down. As Mingyu continued reading, his head spun and his stomach churned with the number of crimes Sunghae committed and how severe those were. “My goodness, this family is full of crimes! No wonder they wanted Hyung to back down from their case.” He commented as he closed the files in disbelief.

However, the prosecutor got one vital piece of information by reading the files, “To bring Sunghae in the country back, I have to get his weak point. His son. Lee Seungmin.” Mingyu smirked as he dialed someone’s number and spoke once the other person picked up the call, “Hello, Bogum Hyung? This little Kim of yours needed a favor.”

“A favor, lil Kim? I would do a 100 for you. But what's my catch?” Bogum, more specifically, Park Bogum, a detective, asked about his benefit in the task.

“You will never leave your share, will ya?” The ravenette asked as he heard a chuckle from the other end, “Fine. You get to take your revenge too!” Mingyu informed the older male.

“Okay, done deal. But what's the task?” The male asked the prosecutor.

“Find me every information about Lee Seungmin. Everything means everything. Even if it is the details of his bathroom schedule, don't leave anything out.” Mingyu instructed with his dark eyes. After getting the confirmation from Bogum, Mingyu hung up. “The retribution will start from the youngest one of their family.” The raged prosecutor declared, his jaw clenched and eyes filled with immense hate.
