Lyra's POV:
Burke had been confined to one room with Hicks watching him. Newt was currently asleep on her sister's lap. "I'm gonna go look around ok?" Hawk said. His mother nodded and said "stay in between these two rooms. Be careful if you go into the outside hall." Hawk nodded and Max said "I'll go too. I'm bored anyway." She picked up her skateboard and followed Hawk out of the room. I sighed and watched them leave. I went to the far side of the room and sat down, Billy sitting next to me. "Still mad at me?" I asked. Billy shook his head while exhaling on a cigarette. "You sure?" Billy huffed and said "yes, Lyra. I'm not mad. I wasn't really mad at you. I was just mad. I don't know how to explain it." "I do. You were mad that Maia was in danger." I said as I took his cigarette from him, inhaling on it. Billy snatched it back from me and said "don't smoke to impress me. Your asthma." I half smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder. He put his arm around me and I said "Maia was in danger and you were mad. You were scared something bad would happen to her." Billy rolled his eyes and said "so what if I was." "That means you like kids." Billy sighed and said "I guess." I kissed his cheek and said "that's really cute." Billy rolled his eyes again and I kissed his cheek.

Hawk's POV:
Max and I were walking around the outside hall. She put her board on the floor and skated, wheels making noise as they rolled across the grates.

This place looked old. There was a room with a door that hadn't been sealed off. Max and I stopped at the doorway. "Wanna go in?" She asked. I stepped into the room cautiously and Max picked up her board, holding it in her hand. There was broken glass on the floor, Max stepped on some as she walked ahead of me. "You think this was a lab?" I shrugged and said "maybe." Max picked up a jar that had something inside and there were cages in the back of the room. "What's in there?" I said as I walked over to Max. She held the jar up and said "don't know. Looks like a jellyfish or something." "You ever seen one?" She shook her head and said "nope. I've lived in space my whole life." "I saw one. Once." "Really?" I nodded and Max said "that's amazing." She set her board on the ground and began skating around me in a circle. I smiled at her and she said "I can't wait till we get off of this planet. Can't you?" "I can't wait. It's driving me crazy."

"Do you wish we were back on the Covenant sometimes?" Max asked me. I shook my head and said "no. I hated that place. I want to go to earth. I wanna go back." "You've been to earth? What's it like?" "It's amazing. There's people everywhere. And there's no aliens trying to kill you." Max sighed and said "I've lived in space my whole life. I've never even seen the sun." My eyes widened and I said "I'll show you one day. I'll show it all to you. I promise." A blush crept onto Max's face and she said "cool."

Rawr

Max gasped and said "what was that?" I looked towards the back of the room and the sound was heard again. Max stumbled and almost fell off her board. I grabbed her arm and pulled her closer to me.

"What do you think it is?" She said. I stepped forward and said "sounds like an animal. A cat maybe." "Why would a cat be on Hadley's Hope?" I shrugged and continued to walk towards the cages. A small little kitten laid inside one of them. A black kitten with stripes on it's fur, huge ears on top of it's head.

Meow

"It's a cat." I said. Max and I walked to the cage and the kitten reached for me with it's paw. "Hi. Hi little guy." I said as I unlocked the cage. Max patted it's head and I grabbed the kitten and put it in my jacket pocket. He curled up inside of it and poked his head out. "You're gonna take it with you?" Max asked. I nodded and said "we can't leave him." "How do you know he's a boy?" "He has balls." I said. Max rolled her eyes and said "come on. Let's see what else is around. I don't know how you're gonna feed that thing." "Cats eat meat. There's plenty of that around." Max skated out of the room and I stoked the kitten's head. "Tiger. I'm gonna name you, Tiger." Tiger mewed at me and I walked out of the room. Max was skating down to the end of the hall where the doors were welded shut.

"Careful by the doors." I said. Max nodded and spun around on her board. I put my hand in my pocket and petted Tiger as I walked.

Beep beep

"What's that?" I said. Max sighed and said "why are we finding all this stuff?" There was a hole in the wall and the beeping was heard again. A circular droid popped out of the hole.

Max gasped and Tiger made a noise. "Is that a robot?" "Beep beep." "It's a droid." She said. Max knelt down in front of the droid and said "do you have a name?" "Beep beep beep." "BB-8. His name is BB-8." Max said. My eyes widened and I said "you can understand him?" "Yeah. It's one of the things I learned while living on a colonization ship. I didn't have many friends so I just hung out with the droids, which helped me understand them." I chuckled and said "you can talk to robots." "Droids." She corrected me. I nodded and said "why don't we take him back to the room with everyone else?" He made quizzical beeps at max and she said "your master's name is Blue? Could that be Blue in there?" "Do you know another Blue?" I asked. Max rolled her eyes while sticking her tongue out. "Let's go." She said. We walked into the main room with everyone else. "Where's Blue?" I said. Roxy looked up and pointed towards the corner. He was currently asleep on Jax's shoulder. BB-8 rolled over to him and began hitting him in the leg. Jax woke up and jumped. "Ah! What is that?!" He said. This awoke Blue who was currently checking his boyfriend for wounds. BB-8 beeped again and Blue said "oh my god. Buddy!" He began talking to the droid and asking him a bunch of questions. He rubbed him like a dog and Jax's eyes were huge. "It's a droid. They're nice." I said. Jax gulped and said "nice. Ok."

Happy beeps came from the round droid and Blue pressed his head to his. "Buddy, where've you been?" He asked him. BB-8 began telling him everywhere he had been. Roxy smiled really big and said "BB-8? Where's my hug." The droops beeped and rolled over to her. She embraced the droid best as she could and everyone in the room was currently in awe at the situation.

Billy noticed the cat in my pocket and tried to grab him. I turned my body so he couldn't grab Tiger. "What're you doing?" I asked. "Why do you have that?" "Who? Tiger? He was all alone, all the other cats were gone. They left him. So now I'll take care of him." I said proudly. Max smiled while looking at the ground as I said that. A smirk appeared on my face and Billy said "what're you smirking at? Huh?" I looked back at him and said "nothing." "Leave him alone, Billy. If he wants to keep his kitty, let him." Lyra said as she grabbed Billy's arm. He rolled his eyes and Lyra smiled at me as she controlled her boyfriend. "Here. Why don't you come in here while I give the cat some food?" Ripley said. I nodded and she walked with me into the other room. "I have a cat too. His name is Jones." She said. I smiled up at her and said "that's really cool." I set Tiger on the counter and he licked his paw. Ripley grabbed some food out of the cabinet and it was some raw meat. Tiger nibbles on it and I said "where's Jones?" "Back on Gateway. He already went through this hell once before. I didn't want him to have to go through it again." "That's smart. How could you just leave him behind? How could someone leave this poor kitten all by himself." I said as I stroked Tiger's head. Ripley shrugged and said "some people just don't care. But we'll all make sure Tiger gets out with us. There's gotta be a carrier or something. Maybe in that room. I'll go look." She walked away and I sat in the room with Tiger, vowing I wouldn't let anything happen to him.
