The next day, Halley never went to school. Well, that’s not like her, Matt thought to himself. Matt pulled out his phone and dialed Halley’s cell-phone. He waited as the dial tone ringed. By the sixth ring, Halley’s voice-mail kicked in. “Hey, this is Halley! Sorry I missed your call, but leave your name, number and a brief message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can! Thanks!” After the beep, Matt cleared his throat and said “Hey Hal. It’s Matt. Since your probably home sick, I’ll stop by and drop off your homework and then I’ll go and cover your shift over at Gold Music so you will get all of your pay-check… ‘kay. Bye.” As Matt walked up the front steps of her house twenty minutes later, Matt’s head suddenly filled with the images of familiar wings folding a protective barrier around something. When he knocked on the thick brown door, Jason was the one to answer. Matt did not think anything odd about that. Obviously, Jason would take care of everything for his sister, especially when she was sick. “Hey J. She okay?” Matt asked. “She’s not feeling to good. She should feel better in about a week or so.” Jason answered fidgeting a little. “But, in the meantime. Hal can’t have any visitors. Sorry.” He added. Matt grimaced, but nodded. “Well, I just can to drop off Halley’s homework and then go and cover her shift while she’s sick.” Matt said turning and waving at the same time. When he walk through the door of Gold Music twenty minutes later, Stacie noticed that he was looking a little sad. “Hey, where’s Halley?” she asked over the counter, while placing some that just came in where they belonged. “She’s at home. Sick.” He replied, shrugging his shoulder. “Oh. I’m surprised. I didn’t think she could get sick.” Stacie joked, hoping to cheer him up a bit. He just shrugged is shoulders, with a slightly bored look on his face.
