EVEN WHEN THEY'D gotten into town, karina was still a shivering and chattering mess. her hair was now matted with dried mud, and her skin felt tight, like someone had applied a mud mask to her whole body, and let it harden. but, she had somehow figured out that when she concentrated on the mud on her body, it just . . . disappeared. she had no idea how she did that, but as they continued to walk, she slowly got most of the mud off of her, and then she did the same to percy.

probably a ceres thing, she thought.

frank had tried his best to supply her with his jacket, and another old one on top of that, but it was as if the cold air blew right through it, because she felt every small chill that passed through her body.

the trio, consisting of frank, karina, and percy, had been following hazel as she winded her way through town, and along third avenue. there was a railroad station there, and a big white two-story hotel, named the seward hotel, which seemed nice enough. they thought about stopping there, but they didn't think it to be a good idea to traipse into the lobby covered in mud, nor were they sure the hotel would give a room to three minors.

instead, they turned toward the shoreline. and to the left, karina finally saw it.

hazel's old home.

it was still there, even after all those years, leaning over the water on barnacle-encrusted piers. the roof sagged. the walls were perforated with holes like buckshot. the door was boarded-up, and a hand-painted sign read: r̶o̶o̶m̶s̶ - s̶t̶o̶r̶a̶g̶e̶ - ᴀᴠᴀɪʟᴀʙʟᴇ.

"come on," hazel said.

"uh, you sure it's safe?" frank asked.

hazel found an open window and climbed inside. karina and the others following shortly after. the room hadn't been used in a long time, she could tell. their feet kicked up dust that swirled in the buckshot beams of sunlight. mouldering cardboard boxes were stacked along the walls. their faded labels read: greeting cards, assorted seasonal. why several hundred boxes of seasonal greeting's had wound up crumbing to dust in a warehouse in alaska, karina had no idea.

"it's warmer in here, at least," frank said. "guess no running water? maybe i can go shopping. i'm not as muddy as you guys. i could find us some clothes. hazel, you could come along too, if you'd like."

it seemed as if hazel only half heard him.

she climbed over a stack of boxes in the corner. an old sign was propped against the wall: ɢᴏʟᴅ ᴘʀᴏsᴘᴇᴄᴛɪɴɢ sᴜᴘᴘʟɪᴇs. karina thought she'd find a bare wall behind it, but when hazel moved the sign, there were photos and drawings of hazel's pinned against the wall, eliciting a small gasp of surprise from her. the sign must have protected them from sunlight and the elements. they seemed not to have aged. there were crayon drawings of new orleans, and hazel's mother stared out at her from one photograph, smiling in front of her business sign: ᴍᴀʀɪᴇ's ɢʀɪs-ɢʀɪs— ᴄʜᴀʀᴍs sᴏʟᴅ, ғᴏʀᴛᴜɴᴇs ᴛᴏʟᴅ.

next to that picture, was a picture of a boy who looked strangely similar to the boy that she saw a few days ago in her dreams. he wore a crazy grin, and had curly black hair, with beautiful eyes.

frank's fingers hovered over the photo. "who . . . "
he saw that she was crying and clamped back his question. "sorry, hazel. this must be really hard. do you want some time— "

"no," she croaked. "no, it's fine."

"oh, hazel," karina sighed softly, making her way over to her, and wrapping her arms around her tightly, placing one hand on the back of her head, and the other resting around her shoulders, rubbing her back softly.

hazel immediately reciprocated the hug, leaning her head into karina's shoulder, and curled her body into her's. she could feel hazel's body visibly deflate as she leaned into the hug, wet tears falling into her shoulder as she continued to cry, but karina didn't care. she only cared about hazel and how she was feeling.

"thank you," hazel whispered shakily into her neck, sniffling and wiping her eyes quickly as she released herself from the hug, looking at karina with an innocent expression.

karina only smiled in return, running her hand down the side of hazel's hair in a motherly way, before turning back to the boys, who were watching the interaction between the two with fond expressions. percy, looking out her with eyes that held a little something more than fondness.

karina made her way over to where percy was studying the picture of the boy on the wall, and she wrapped her arm around his, leaning her head on the top of his forearm.

"who is that?" percy asked, leaning his head down onto karina's.

"that's . . . that's sammy." hazel replied. "he was my—uh— friend from new orleans." she avoided eye contact with frank.

"i've seen him before," percy. said.

"me too," karina added. "in my dreams."

"you couldn't have," hazel said. "that was in 1941. he's . . . he's probably dead now."

percy frowned. "i guess. still . . . " he shook his head, like the thought was too uncomfortable, and leaned into karina more.

frank cleared his throat. "look, we passed a store on the last block. we've got a little money left. maybe hazel and i should go get you guys some food and clothes and— i don't know— hundred boxes of wet wipes or something?"

"that sounds great," karina said. "you're the best, frank."

the floorboards creaked under him and hazel's retreating feet. "well . . . we're the only two not completely covered in mud, anyway. be back soon."

once they were gone, percy and karina made temporary camp. they took off their jackets and tried to scrape off the mud. they found some old blankets in a crate and used them to clean up. they discovered that boxes of greeting cards made pretty good places to rest if you arranged them like mattresses.

percy set his sword on the floor where it glowed with a faint bronze light. then he stretched out on a bed of merry christmas 1982.

karina sat at his side, his head right next to her thigh. "thank you for saving me," he said. "i should've told you that earlier."

karina shrugged, fiddling with the hem of her flannel. "you would have done the same for me."

"yes," he agreed. "but when i was down in the mud, i remembered that line from ella's prophecy— about the son of neptune drowning. i thought. 'this is what it means. i'm drowning in the earth.' i was sure i was dead."

his voice quivered like it had his first day at camp jupiter, when her and hazel showed him the shrine of neptune. back then, she had wondered if percy was the answer to all the problems that had arisen. maybe he could bring jason back, or maybe, even bring part of herself back.

ever since karina has come back from the dead, she hasn't fully been the same. maybe it was the shock realization that she technically shouldn't be alive right now, or that she had experienced death first-hand, but she had never fully recovered, in a sense.

but, now that percy was here, she seemed to be forgetting more about it, sort of numbing the mental pain until it will disappear. he seems to help her when she needs it most, and she wonders if he was the thing she had been waiting for all along.

"percy," she said, taking his hand. "that prophecy might not have even been complete. frank thought ella was remembering a burned page. maybe you'll drown someone else."

he looked at her curiously. "you think so?"

karina nodded, and percy sat up, so he was eye level with her. "you're going to make it back home. you're going to see your friends again, and annabeth."

"you'll make it back, too, karina," he insisted. "we're not going to let anything happen to you or hazel. you're too valuable to me, to the camp, and to hazel and frank. and so is hazel."

karina picked up an old valentine. the lacy white paper fell apart in her hands. "i just feel like i don't belong here. i mean, i was supposed to be dead a year ago. reyna and jason watched me die. it just doesn't feel right that i'm alive."

percy scooted closer to her and lifted her chin up with his fingers lightly, making her look at him, instead of her lap. "there's more to your destiny than that," he said. "we're supposed to fight gaea together. i'm going to need you at my side way longer than just today, i mean, hell, i can't help the way i feel about you right now. i'm crazy about you, rina."

karina's breath hitched as she heard percy confess that to her, and she looked at him with soft eyes, as she reached her hand up to trace her pointer finger along his jawline, her eyes not leaving his.

"i'm kinda crazy about you, percy," she said softly, a nervous smile pulling at her lips as he too began to smile as well.

"really, now," percy said sarcastically, pulling her closer by her hips, so that her chest was almost touching his. "it seems to me that you've forgotten about your own rules, karina."

karina's smile widened as she began to chuckle, winding her hands to the nape of his neck as he began to rub his hands up and down her sides softly, the smile not leaving his face as he stared up at her.

"well, like you said, some rules are meant to be broken." she said, and leaned her face in closer to his so that their foreheads leaned on each other's, and percy's grip on her hips tightened in the slightest to movements, his eyes trained on the movement of her lips as she spoke.

"does this rule apply to that statement?" he asked her, his fingers drawing circles on her clothed skin, making her arms get goosebumps.

"yeah, i think it does."

a moment of silence passed through the two of them, both of them just looking at the other in patience, seeing who would take the next step first. and, it seemed that their minds were connected in that moment, because seconds after they finished speaking, they both simultaneously leaned in to each other, connecting their lips together.

karina's mouth moved against his passionately, and she ran her hands through his hair fervently, slightly pulling on the strands at the nape of his neck, and she heard him let out a low groan at the feeling. percy began to move her legs to situate on either side of him by the belt loops of her jeans, her head now being taller than his, since she was sitting on her legs, leading her to lean down into the kiss, while percy leaned up. her hair fanned loosely around them as the kiss deepened, and one of her hands removed themselves from percy's hair, and instead cupped the side of his jaw, her fingers tracing over the skin softly.

this kiss wasn't like the other ones that the two demigods had shared. the first one they shared was soft, and hesitant, as if they were both scared the other would pull away. it was like holding hands for the first time, except, it's kissing. the second time was just a heat of the moment type of action, and percy wouldn't even consider it a proper kiss, he just wanted to make sure he did kiss her one more time incase she got hurt.

but, this kiss was like a long awaited one. they both collectively have wanted to kiss each other with this much passion and confidence for so long, but never knew if the other had actually wanted it to as well. and now that they both were together in this situation, they both knew that what they were feeling towards each other, the other felt the same.

karina felt percy's teeth begin to drag gently across her bottom lip, eliciting a small gasp of surprise from her, but, percy took that as an opportunity to slide his tongue past her's with ease, and she let out a small sound of shock at the action, but she didn't stop him. they continued to kiss each other with such need and compassion, they had almost forgotten that they were on a life threatening quest together, and that in just a mere few hours, they could possibly end up dead.

but, it didn't matter to them, all that mattered in this moment, was each other.

karina felt percy's lips leave her own, and the loss of feeling of his warm lips against her's made her frown at him, but before she could say anything, she felt him reconnect his lips against her jaw, slowly placing small kisses along the side. she let out a deep sigh of enjoyment at the feeling, and tilted her head to the side slightly, so he could have a better angle. he pushed her hair behind her shoulder with a flick of his wrist, his hand resting on the side of her neck, and his thumb tracing over the front of it softly.

but, just as percy had begun making his way down to her collarbone, the window creaked open, and they heard the sound of footsteps climbing through the window.

"succes— WOAH!"

they both heard frank scream in surprise at the sight of the two demigods making out, and also hazel yelp in surprise as well, slapping a hand over eyes, as well as frank placing his over her's as well. karina flew backwards about five feet, her heart beating erratically, and her lips pulsating from her previous actions.

percy's hair was sticking up at all different angles, and his lips were a slightly darker shade of red than they were before, and a deep blush was coated all over both of their faces.

"oh my gods, oh my gods, i'm so sorry!" hazel said frantically, her eyes blinking repeatedly in a flustered manner, obviously not used to this kind of affection being shown.

"why do i always catch you two making out?" frank asked with a snag of annoyance, the bag of clothes on his hand rattling as he flung his arms out in front of him dramatically.

"um . . . sorry, i guess?" percy said unhelpfully, as hazel and frank stared at them with wide eyes and shocked expression.

"also, we have not made out in front of you, frank," karina said in reply, narrowing her eyes at him.

frank rolled his eyes. "kissing, making out, whatever. still, i've seen it happen twice now, can you please do it in, like, private?"

okay," percy stopped him, pointing his finger at him accusingly. "first of all, the one kiss you saw was literally two seconds long, and this one, you only saw for like, four seconds. so you can't say anything."

frank pursed his lips, and let out a groan of irritation. "you know what, i really hate both of you, you know that?"

seeing frank try to be angry at them only made the situation more amusing to karina. he looked like an angry seal when he got frustrated. "no you don't," she replied, flashing him a knowing smirk.

frank rolled his eyes again. "whatever," he muttered, and then began to switch the subject, clearing his throat. "anyways," he started. "let me show you what we got."

he proceeded to show off him and hazel's prizes. from a hunting store, he'd gotten a new quiver of arrows for himself, some rations, and a coil of rope.

"for the next time we run across muskeg," he said.

from a local tourist shop, he had bought three sets of fresh clothes, some towels, some soap, some bottled water, and, yes, a huge box of wet wipes. it wasn't exactly a hot shower, but all of them proceeded to go into a secluded area of the house and clean up, though, karina was already mostly clean since she had managed to get must of the mud off of her.

this is your last day, she reminded herself. don't get too comfortable.

the feast of fortuna— all the luck that happened today, good or bad, was supposed to be an omen of the entire year to come. one way or another, their quest would end this evening.

karina slipped on her fresh clothes, which consisted of a pair of black athletic leggings, and a sweatshirt that was navy blue, and had ALASKA, printed on it in bold white letters. it was a little large, but it fit her well enough. it was simple, but it worked. she quickly wrapped her hair into a ponytail, and turned back to the group, ready to go.

"so," hazel said. "now we find a boat to hubbard glacier."

frank patted his stomach. "if we're going to battle to the death, i want lunch first. i found the perfect place."

frank led them to a shopping plaza near the wharf, where an old railway car had been converted into a diner. the food smelled amazing.

while frank, karina, and percy ordered, hazel wandered off to the docks and asked some questions. when she came back, it was clear on her face that she needed some cheering up.

"we're in trouble," she said. "i tried to get a boat. but . . . i miscalculated."

"no boats?" frank asked.

"oh, i can get a boat," hazel said. "but the glacier is farther than i thought. even at top speed, we couldn't get there until tomorrow morning."

percy turned pale, his grip on karina's hand tightening. "maybe i could make the boat go faster?"

"even if you could," hazel said. "from what the captains tell me, it's treacherous— icebergs, mazes of channels to navigate. you'd have to know where you were going."

"a plane?" frank asked.

hazel shook her head. "i asked the boat captains about that. they said we could try, but it's a tiny airfield. you have to chapter a plane two, three weeks in advance."

"what if i teleported us there?" karina asked.

hazel looked at her curiously. "don't you need plants to do that?"

karina nodded. "yes, but, i could at least get us close to it, so we can get there faster."

hazel sighed. "even if you tried, nina, you don't have enough strength to teleport all four of us combined that far of a distance. you'd hurt yourself."

"i . . . " karina hesitated, but realized that hazel was right. she could barely even teleport herself somewhere, imagine three other people?

they ate in silence after that. karina's veggie burger was excellent, but she couldn't concentrate on it. she'd eaten about three bites when a raven settled on the telephone pole above and began to croak at them.

karina ignored the bird, but hazel seemed unusually troubled by it, and tried to avoid its presence by staring at her cheeseburger.

suddenly, the raven's caring chamged to a strangled yelp.

frank got up so fast he almost toppled the picnic table, and karina stumbled backward into percy's chest as he drew his sword.

perched on top of the pole where the raven had been, a fat ugly gryphon glared down at them. it burped, and raven feathers fluttered from its beak.

karina and hazel unsheathed their weapons in sync.

frank nocked an arrow. he took aim, but the gryphon shrieked so loudly the sound echoed off the mountains. frank flinched, and his shot went wide.

"i think that's a call for help," percy warned. "we have to get out of here."

with no clear plan, they ran for the docks. the gryphon dove after them. percy slashed at it with his sword, but the gryphon veered out of reach.

they took the steps to the nearest pier and raced to the end. the gryphon swooped after them, its front claws extended for the kill. hazel raised her sword, but an icy wall of water slammed sideways into the gryphon and washed it into the bay. the gryphon squawked and flapped its wings. it managed to scramble on to the pier, where it shook its black fur like a wet dog.

frank grunted. "nice one, percy."

"that was so attractive," karina muttered to percy.

frank audibly groaned. "will you two please stop having so much sexual tension and focus for two seconds?"

percy smirked and sent a wink in her direction. "thanks, rina. i didn't know if i could still do that in alaska. but bad news— look over there."

about a mile away, over the mountains, a black cloud was swirling— a whole flock of gryphons, dozens at least. there was no way they could fight that many, and no boat could take them away fast enough.

frank nocked another arrow. "not going down without a fight."

percy raised riptide. "i'm with you."

karina sighed, and unenthusiasticaly raised her gladius. "i guess i'm with you too."

then, karina heard a sound in the distance— like the whinnying of a horse. she heard hazel cry out desperately, "arion! over here!"

a tan blur came ripping down the street and onto the pier. the stallion materialized right behind the gryphon, brought down his front hooves, and smashed the monster to dust.

"good horse!" hazel said. "really good horse!"

frank backed up and almost fell off the pier. "how— "

"he followed me!" hazel beamed. "because he's the best—horse— EVER! now, get on!"

"all four of us?" percy said. "can he handle it?"

arion whinnied indignantly.

"alright, no need to be rude," percy said. "let's go."

they climbed on, hazel in front, frank behind her, and then karina, percy sitting behind her. frank wrapped his arms around hazel's waist, and percy did the same to karina, linking his hands together on her stomach.

"run, arion!" hazel cried. "to hubbard glacier!"

the horse shot across the water, his hooves turning the top of the sea into steam.

hazel seemed to feel like she was on top of the world, at least, that's how karina thought she looked.

but, the rest of them weren't so happy. the three of them all had their teeth clenched and their eyeballs were bouncing around in their heads. frank's cheeks jiggled from the g-force. percy sat with his chest pressed tightly up against karina's back, hanging on tightly to her waist, his face digging into the side of her neck. he was desperately trying not the slip off the horse's rear. karina hoped that didn't happen. the way arion was moving, she might not notice he was gone for fifty or sixty miles.

they raced through icy straits, past blue fjords and cliffs with waterfalls spilling into the sea. arion jumped over a breaching humpback whale and kept galloping, startling a pack of seals off an iceberg.

it seemed like only minutes before they zipped into a narrow bay. the water turned to consistency of shaved ice in blue stick syrup. arion came to a halt on a frozen turquoise slab.

a half a mile away stood hubbard glacier. karina couldn't quite process what she was looking at. purple snow capped mountains marched off in either direction, with cloud floating around their middles like fluffy belts. in a massive valley between two of t h largest peaks, a ragged wall of ice rose out of the sea, filling the entire gorge. the glacier was blue and white with streaks of black, so that it looked like a hedge of dirty snow left behind on a sidewalk after a snowplow had gone by, only four million times as large.

as soon as arion stopped, karina felt the temperature drop. all that ice was sending off waves of cold, turning the bay into the world's largest refrigerator. the eeriest thing was a sound like thunder that rolled across the water.

"what is that?" frank gazed at the clouds above the glacier. "a storm?"

"no," hazel said. "ice cracking and shifting. millions of tons of ice."

"you mean that thing is breaking up?" frank asked.

as if on cue, a sheet of ice silently calved off the side of the glacier and crashed into the sea, spraying water and frozen shrapnel several stories high. a millisecond later the sound hit them— a BOOM almost as jarring as arion hitting the sound barrier.

"we can't get close to that thing!" frank said.

"we have to," karina said. "the giant is at the top."

arion nickered.

"jeez, hazel," percy said. "tell your horse to watch his language.

hazel tried not to laugh. "what did he say?"

"with the cussing removed? he said he can get us to the top."

frank looked incredulous. "i thought the horse couldn't fly!"

this time arion whinnied so angrily, even karina could guess he was cursing.

"dude," percy told the horse. "i've gotten suspended for saying less than that. hazel, he promises you'll see what he can do as soon as you give the word."

karina furrowed her eyebrows, an amused smile on her lips. "how many times have you gotten suspended?"

"too many to count," percy said immediately, grinning at her, as if he was proud of it.

karina rolled her eyes, but she still had a smile. "you're such an idiot," she mumbled amusedly.

"um, hold on, then, you guys," hazel said nervously, getting back to the topic at hand. "arion, giddyup!"

arion shot toward the glacier line a runaway rocket, barreling straight across the slush like he wanted to play chicken with the mountain of ice.

the air grew colder. the crackling of the ice grew louder as arion closed the distance, the glacier loomed so large, karina got vertigo just trying to take it all in. the side was riddled with crevices and caves, spiked with jagged ridges like ax blades. pieces were constantly crumbling off— some no larger than snowballs, some the size of houses.

when they were about fifty years from the base, a thunderclap rattled karina's bones, and a curtain of ice that would've covered camp jupiter calved away and fell toward them.

"look out!" frank shouted.

but, arion was way ahead of him. in a burst of speed, he zigzagged through the debris, leaping over chunks of ice and clambering up the face of the glacier.

"holy fuck! oh my gods!" karina shouted, and she heard frank and percy cursing like horses and holding on desperately as arion sped up the mountain.

"what in the living shit is going on right now?!" she heard percy yell in her ear, his chin digging into her shoulder as he held on tight against her body.

somehow, they managed not to fall off as arion scaled the cliffs, jumping from foothold to foothold with impossible speed and agility. it was like falling down a mountain in reverse.

then it was over. arion stood proudly at the top of a ridge of ice that loomed over the void. the sea was now three hundred feet below them.

arion whinnied a challenge that echoed off the mountains. percy didn't translate, but karina was pretty sure arion was calling out to any other horses that might be in the bay: beat that, ya punks!

then he turned and ran inland across the top of the glacier, leaping a chasm fifty feet across.

"there!" percy pointed.

the horse stopped. ahead of them stood a frozen roman camp like a giant-sized ghastly replica of camp jupiter. the trenches bristled with ice spikes. the snow-brick ramparts flared blinding white. hanging from the guard towers, banners of frozen blue cloth shimmered in the arctic sun.

there was no sign of life. the gates stood wide open. no sentries walked the walls. still, karina had an uneasy feeling in her gut.

arion trotted skittishly.

"frank, karina," percy said. "how about we go on foot from here?"

frank sighed with relief. "thought you'd never ask."

"as long as i get a piggy back ride," karina said.

percy narrowed her eyes at her. "really?"

"um, yeah," she said defensively. "my feet hurt."

percy shook his head with a chuckle, and dismounted from the horse, the others following shortly after. they went forward tentatively. the ice seemed stable, covered with a fine carpet of snow so that it wasn't too slippery.

hazel urged arion forward. karina, frank, and percy walked on either side sword, gladius, and bow ready. karina kept a tight hold on percy's hand, considering she had slipped about six times already in the short period of time they'd been walking.

after he saw karina slip for a seventh time, percy finally stopped, and with an eye roll, bent down and extended his arms behind him expectantly, looking to karina. "okay, get on,"

karina grinned like a child and hopped onto percy's back, wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her chin on his shoulder as his hands gripped her thighs securely around his sides, a low chuckle escaping him as they continued to walk.

they approached the gates without being challenged. karina was trained to spot pits, snares, trip lines, and all sorts of other traps roman legions had faced for eons in enemy territory, but she saw nothing— just the yawning icy gates and the frozen banners crackling in the wind.

she could see straight down the via praetoria. at the crossroads, in front of the snow-brick principia, a tall dark robes figure stood, bound in icy chains.

"thanatos," hazel murmured.

she felt as if her soul were being pulled forward, drawn toward death like dust toward a vacuum. her vision went dark, and she almost slipped off percy's back, but he tightened his arms around her legs just in time, and brought her down, and into his arms.

"hey," he murmured, rubbing his thumb across her cheek. "you okay?"

karina couldn't respond, and she had only just then noticed had just gone through the same thing, and frank had her propped up on arion.

"we've got you," he promised. "nobody's taking you two away."

karina gripped percy's hand. she didn't want to let go. he was so solid, so reassuring, but percy and frank couldn't protect them from death.

"we're all right," hazel lied for the two of them.

percy kept his grip on karina, and looked around uneasily. "no defenders? no giant? this has to be a trap."

"obviously," frank said. "but i don't think we have a choice."

before karina could say anything, hazel urged arion through the gates. the layout was so familiar— cohort barracks, baths, armory. it was an exact replica of camp jupiter, except three times as big. karina felt tiny and insignificant, as if they were moving through a model city constructed by the gods.

they stopped ten feet from the robed figure.

now that she was here, karina felt a reckless urge to finish the quest. she knew she was in more danger than when she'd been fighting the amazons, or fending off the gryphons, or climbing the glacier on arion's back. instinctively she knew that thanatos could simply touch her, and she would die.

but she also had a feeling that if she didn't see the quest through, if she didn't face her fate bravely, she would still die— in cowardice and failure. the judges of the dead wouldn't be nice to her.

arion cantered back and forth, sensing hazel's disquiet.

"hello?" hazel forced out the word. "mr. death?"

the hooded figure raised his head.

instantly, the whole camp stirred to life. figures in roman armor emerged from the barracks, the principia, the armory, and the canteen, but they weren't human. they were shades— the chattering ghosts. their bodies weren't much more than wisps of black vapor, but they managed to hold together sets of scale armor, greaves, and helmets. frost-covered swords were strapped to their waists. pila and dented shields floated in their smoky hands. the plumes on the centurions' helmets were frozen and ragged. most of the shades were on foot, but two soldiers burst out of the stables in a golden chariot pulled by ghostly black steeds.

when arion saw the horses, he stamped the ground in outrage.

frank gripped his bow. "yep, here's the trap."
