I stayed the weekends at my parents house, due to their request. I didn't feel tired, but as soon as I slipped under my bed sheets and laid my head on my pillow, I fell asleep. The next morning, I tried the suit on. My parents had to go to a meeting for their job and my brother had basketball practice, so I was left alone. I figured it was safe to at least test it out, as long as I didn't break anything. Now, I had to find out how to actually get into the suit. I pulled it out of the box and held it up in front of me.

"Now..." I muttered, glancing up and down at it. "How do I get this on-"

As soon as I said 'on' it latched around me. It seemed as if it dissolved my clothes underneath it. It was, indeed, skintight as I'd thought. When I looked in the mirror, I saw a shimmery silver suit that seemed to reflect its surroundings. It was almost like fish scales, but more elegant. The suit fit my form a little more than I was comfortable with, but no one would know it was me. There was a hood that went over my head, compressing my hair to my head. Short frills stuck up from the hairline on the hood. A mask was attached to the rim of the hood, reaching all the way down to my cheekbones and up to the bridge of my nose. There was a guard over my chin as well. The eyes were covered by some sort of screen. The screen enhanced my vision, in a way. The soles of my feet were padded, most likely so I could painlessly run through the city. It was all one piece, from head to toe.

"Well," I said, standing stock still. Looking at myself in the mirror, I questioned if I was actually there. The reflective ability on the suit seemed to make me blend in with my surroundings. "That's pretty cool. But I have to have some other ability too..." Just as I spoke, my hand shook, causing it to be transparent. I stumbled backward in surprise, and as my hands reached for the wall to steady myself, the transparent hand passed through it. I gulped and pulled my hand out of the wall. Okay. I could phase through things.

Walking down the stairs, I reached the first floor of my house. I entered the living room and went to one end of it, facing the rest of the room. I posed myself to run straight toward a wall; the wall opened up into the kitchen, so I would have to be careful. Then I sprinted right at it. And hit the wall.

"Ow..." I rubbed my head where there would surely be a bump by tomorrow morning. "Well, that was a mistake."

I tried it again, running at the wall and attempting to phase through it. When I finally got through, I slid into the kitchen, hitting the drawers and cabinets. I collided with it at such a high speed that a glass cup fell out of one of the top cabinets and shattered on the ground. So much for not breaking anything.

Once everything was cleaned up and it looked as if nothing had happened, I tried phasing through smaller items, like chairs, lamps, and pillows. Eventually I got the hang of it, and upgraded to phasing through doors. I didn't cause as much damage like the last time.

The only side effect from my powers was that I got tired easily. After phasing through everything, I collapsed onto the couch. After about an hour I saw a figure flip from a building to a shorter building next to it, and I jumped to my feet and raced to the window. It was a person in a suit and mask.

Another hero, I realized, looking back at my suit that I had left hanging on the back of a chair. My clothes apparently had dissolved into the suit, so when I said 'off,' they appeared back on me.

Without a second thought, I got the suit on and phased through the wall. It wasn't my most successful phase, but it would have to do for now. I followed the other hero, running at top speed. The shot had given me longer endurance too, as I soon learned.

"Hey!" I shouted up to him. Okay, wow. My voice had been altered. It was probably from the suit, so we wouldn't recognize each other. He looked down at me and grinned.

"Another one?" he asked. His voice was obviously different from usual as well. His suit had a similar design to mine, the way the headpiece was made. He didn't have frills, but otherwise it was the same. His headpiece was the same color as the rest of his suit, a deep gray. He had a chin guard as well. The mask was white, except for red-orange smears that extended from his eyes. He jumped down and landed next to me. "So, what are your powers?" he asked, as if this was perfectly normal.

I gave him a quick rundown on my powers, and he did the same. He could go faster than normal; not superspeed, but close to it. He also had temporary levitation and could jump further than regular people could.

"I think I'll call myself Leap. What do you think?"

"Um- I- Okay. This isn't normal."

That seemed to bring him down to Earth. "Yeah. Sorry. You'll be there, on Friday?"

I blinked. "Of course I will."

"Good. Who do you think this 'Maker' is?" he used air quotes as he said 'Maker.'

"Well, he's the person that made the suits," I replied helpfully. He was probably rolling his eyes behind his mask as he replied,

"Well that's obvious. But who is he really? Why did he make the suits? Why did he choose us, of all people, to use the suits?"

I heard a stuttering sound from behind me, and whirled around to see a civilian, eyes wide and staring.

"You- your- what are you- are you- what-"

"Okay, let me stop you there," I walked over to him and gently placed my hand on his shoulder. "You should hear about us soon, but try and keep it on the down-low for now." I looked to 'Leap' for conformation. He nodded, a confident smile plastered to his face.

"You'll see us soon," he promised. "I should probably go, actually." He leapt off, jumping to the top of a building and disappearing over the top. He seemed to carry himself with loads of self-confidence, while I felt awkward in the skin-tight suit. I waved a quick good-bye to the poor confused man, and ran around the block to confuse him. Once I got home, I de-transformed.

"Okay," I groaned. My muscles were slightly sore; I would have to break in the suit more before Friday. But, overall, I felt a sense of achievement. I had met another hero, and he seemed to be a fairly nice companion. I definitely wouldn't mind getting to know him better. We could work well together, with the powers we have, I realized. At least I wouldn't be completely alone at the meeting.
