Olivia Routledge liked to ignore all her problems in life. All she wanted to do was smoke pot, drink, and enjoy the freedom of summer with her friends. If everything went to plan, then the summer would be nothing but a blissful breeze. Yet, nothing ever goes right, does it?

But where does Olivia even start with her long list of problems? Firstly, there's the major red flag of her missing uncle, where Olivia deep down knows he's gone but doesn't want to admit it — not just for her sake, but for John B too. Big John had acted more like a father to Olivia than her own deadbeat dad. Teddy Routledge was another problem in Olivia's life (surprise, surprise), even more so for failing John B when he needed an adult figure to rely on.

It wasn't all bad for the Routledge children, though. Through the grief, they had come to depend on each other with Olivia crashing permanently at the chateau. Hanging with her cousin meant that Olivia had been introduced to the Pogues (she already knew them, of course, but now was an official member). Yet, things got a little awkward when John B suggested the no pogue-on-pouge macking rule.

Problem number three: JJ Maybank. Olivia doesn't like him — at all (that wasn't technically true, but she was pissed). See, Olivia had a talent for holding a grudge, and she was going strong with almost a year with JJ. The whole no pogue-on-pouge macking rule was a little late for the two; a series of hookups had happened the previous summer that included Olivia's first time. JJ hadn't let her down in that department, but just as Olivia had caught feelings, JJ had ghosted her, quickly moving onto the next girl.

Maybe Olivia had been devastated to start with, but then she had flipped. Now, however, Olivia was as chill as the ocean waves — at least, until someone pissed her off (either JJ or John B). Lately, that seemed to be happening more frequently with DCS breathing down their necks and then the discovery of a treasure map that sent them spiralling down a dark path.

Olivia's certain she's about to explode and it's down to her to clear the blast zone. However, Olivia was stuck having no choice but to face all of her problems. But once you've hit rock bottom, things can't get much worse (Olivia had believed that at the beginning). In the end, though? Well, there's certainly no happy ending, but that's life.

Bringing this back as I've been rewatching outer banks ready for the new season and I'm so excited! I've always wanted to write Olivia's story again, so I'm going to see it through this time even though I have a 100 other stories to write!
