Biffle had been the mayor for hardly two weeks. He found out that Kate and Zud were also mayors, but they agreed to a compromise, there would be three mayors until they felt it was necessary for a reelection.

"Nether Race? What's that?" Zud asked. Biffle had mentioned that they needed to host the next Nether Race since it had been roughly a week since they arrived.

"Well, a Nether Race is just as it sounds. It's a race through the Nether to find or get a certain thing. Everyone has to pay a diamond to do it and whatever team wins splits the diamonds. One of the races we did was to find a piglin bastion," Biffle answered.

"Ooh, that sounds fun!" Kate exclaimed.

"Alright, I'm down for it. What should be the goal?" Zud asked.

The three argued back and forth for a few ideas until they settled with the goal of getting and eye of ender.

A few days later, Biffle was standing in front of the Nether Portal. It wasn't lit let, but it still gave off an eerie feel. Henwy, Sigils, and Alex were decorating the area with obsidian. Henwy and Alex were constantly arguing about how they would structure the Nether Cave (That's what they had been calling it, anyway), until Sigils had to break the two apart and suggest his own idea.

Biffle had stayed around because he found it quite entertaining.

After a while, the three had finished it and stood back to admire it.

"Look's great so far, guys!" Biffle called.

"Thanks!" Alex called back to him, "We plan on adding some warped stuff once we finish the race."

"I was thinking we were going to do crimson nylium and weeping vines," Henwy raised an eyebrow.

"We are going to use both warped items and crimson items," Sigils clarified.

There was muttering between Henwy and Alex but they agreed with Sigils.

"Woah! That looks great so far!" Zud called. Biffle turned and saw Zud, Siimii, and Kate walking towards them.

"Why, thank you," Henwy said, approaching them.

Sigils was busy setting up a dispenser with the team colors in it but called to them anyway, "Those two would argue over a block being in front or behind a piece of dirt," He pointed at Henwy and Alex.

"It was a very reasonable argument," Alex and Henwy shouted back in unison.

"It's very funny to watch those two fight," Biffle informed Siimii. She giggled.

"Anyway, I was thinking we could have three teams of four and one team of five. Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green," Sigils spoke up randomly.

"That works," Kate nodded.

"Is everything ready for the race?" Siimii asked.

"Yeah, I believe so," Henwy scratched the back of his head and stepped back.

Siimii turned to Zud and hooked her arm in his and started to pull him towards town, "Let's go grab everyone!"

They hurried off, followed by Kate. Not long later, everyone was gathered around the portal frame. Biffle cleared his throat and everyone quieted.

"Good evening everyone! We are about to participate in the 3rd Nether Race!" Biffle introduced the event. There were a few hoots and cheers.

"The goal for this race is to collect four eyes of ender, one for each member of the team. The first team to get back to the overworld gets to split the seventeen diamonds that each participant will pay before entering the portal. Now, let's choose the teams!" Biffle stepped up to the dispenser and, one at a time, everyone was put into the following teams;

Red: Nico, Jerome, Karan, and Loaf
Blue: Henwy, Biffle, Sigils, Gold, and Alex
Green: Frost, Florian, Rafessor, and Ambrew
Yellow: Kate, Zud, Siimii, and Lookumz

Once everyone was set in groups, Biffle struck the flint against the steel and the portal shimmered with a bright purple.

Biffle shivered. He always thought the portal gave off a dark and deathly feel. Sigils grabbed his arm and pulled him into the portal along with the rest of the campers.

The race had begun.
