"I'm so glad you could come over last minute." Buffy ushered you up the stairs and into the bedroom, where notes lay scrawled over the bed and sheets of questions sat untouched. "This chem stuff just goes straight over my head, it's like looking at another language."

"It's alright, I had nothing going on anyway." You sat your own stuff down on the floor and joined Buffy as she perched on the edge of her bed. "What part do you need help with?"

"Well I need to hand in all of my assignments before summer to pass, they don't have to be good, they just need to be finished." Buffy's eyes wandered as she spoke, past you and out of the window behind you.

"What's up?" You asked, looking out the window to see nothing but trees and moonlight.

"Nothing, I just have some trouble concentrating. I'm gonna grab some snacks or something to keep us going." She pushed herself up from the bed, her fingers subtly ran along the window lock as she made her way downstairs. You found yourself staring out of the window when she returned, a bowl of popcorn sat under her arm and bottles of drank lay in the other.

"Nothing interesting out there?" She crept up and peered over your shoulder you saw her eyes dart back and forth along the moonlit grass. "Come on, we should study otherwise we'll be out of time." You peeled your eyes from the window and read through the details of the first assignment, you opened your mouth but before any words could escape Joyce called up wearily.

"Buffy, can I borrow you for just one moment?" Before you could turn back around Buffy had left the room and was running down the stairs, you heard her feathered footsteps reach halfway before they turned and Buffy was back standing in the doorway in front of you.

"We just have this little... thing going on. Absolutely nothing for you to worry about, there might be some banging and whatever. Mom's friends can just be a bit rowdy. I can't really explain it in much more detail than that, you'll just have to trust me." She slowly closed the door before sprinting back downstairs, only to be met with the clashing and clanging of breaking décor and furniture.

"Are you sure you're okay down there?" There was no answer, only grunts and shouts directed at something. A few minutes went by and Buffy joined you again, a small cut on her eyebrow and derelict of breath. "Okay, what the fuck just happened?"

Buffy almost collapsed on the bed without answering, her hand slowly reached into a bedside table and pulled out a book, much bigger and much older looking than any of the school provided textbooks.

"I cant really hide it from you, have a quick read of that, I'm having a nap."
