Catherine's part-time job has been exhausting, to say the least. The stealing wasn't the hardest part, though.
The part where she had lots of homework and tests, sleepless nights, and eye bags to cover up with concealer was the worst.

The days have gone by pretty fast, and Catherine was spending every morning the same; hiding under her duvet and being late to class.
However, she was getting better at cheer. She landed her back flips perfectly and could do a whole dance with less than an hour's practice.
Miss. Coach also started to like her better.

Catherine and Mary sat at the back of their English class, the latter's laptop displayed in front of them.
"Cat!" Mary shook the girl's elbow to wake her up.

"Hm?" She asked, raising her head from her crossed arms.

"Look. It's that new Spider-Man hero,"
"The who man?"

Catherine shifted her gaze to the laptop.
On Mary's computer there was a YouTube clip playing of CCTV footage, a masked hero in a red and blue suit was seen fighting some thieves.

"He's so cool," Mary stared at the screen, biting her lower lip slightly.
Catherine gave her a look, "sure." She trailed off. She didn't understand what was so special about this guy, he looked unprofessional and his suit was hideous.

"Do you think he's hot under that mask?" Mary asked, her eyes not leaving the screen.
Catherine glanced at her with a smirk, "why you asking? He's probably, like, forty years old anyway," she teased.

"Uh, no reason. You're right, actually." Mary's eyes darted all over the place while she hurried to close the video.
Catherine snickered seeing her reaction

Mr. Johnson sent Catherine a small smile when she walked in. She was always one of the first to her math class, so she'd have more time to prepare her notes and pens.

She sat in the back already putting her earphones in while writing today's date.
Her headphones had a few shark stickers, some peeling off already.

Catherine was quickly plucked from her thoughts, the chair next to hers suddenly screeching quietly. It was just loud enough for her to hear as if the person sitting down next to her tried grabbing her attention.

She looked up and was immediately met by gorgeous blue eyes.
"This seat taken?" He raised his eyebrows lightly, not waiting for an answer and already putting his bag down.

"Go ahead..." she murmured.

"I'm Catherine. Haven't seen you in this class, are you new?"
She rested her head on her head while her headphones lay on the corner of the table.

"Yeah, just moved from Connecticut, is it that obvious?" he frowned lightly.

"Don't worry, no, you just look like you haven't been through hell yet," she laughed.

"Well, I'm Harry Osborn. Nice to meet you," Harry chuckled.

"You now have at least one new friend, Harry,"

"Oh, actually-"

"Harry? What, what are you doing here?" A voice asked behind Harry.

The pair turned to the voice and both were quite shocked. A pair of chocolate eyes glanced between the two, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Hey Peter," Harry smiled brightly, while Catherine looked at him with a weird look.

"Uh, remember when I said I was moving to New York? Well, I also attend this school now."

"What- that's, great." He smiled, but still furrowed his brows.

"You two know each other?" Catherine asked, still a little confused by all of this.

"Yeah, we've known each other since kindergarten. Do you two..." Harry then asked, glancing at Peter and Catherine

"Oh, no, we're not-"
"No, no, we don't-"
They both shook their head unsure, getting interrupted by each other.

"Take your seats, please." The teacher then ordered, placing his bag down and adjusting his glasses.
Peter quickly went to sit down next to Harry.

"So, did you move here a long time ago?" Catherine asked after a moment of silence.

"A week ago," Peter answered for him, a sort of scowl on his face.
But Catherine didn't understand why.

Catherine simply nodded with a slight frown.

"And he's from Washington, just moved a week ago," Catherine told Mary, talking about a new kid in her class.

"Look, there he is now! Harry, come, sit with us!" Catherine waved him over.

Peter was walking with him but got interrupted mid-sentence by Catherine.
He was clearly irritated, but Catherine couldn't really tell.

Before Harry could do anything, Peter scoffed and declared, "It's fine, go ahead. I'll meet you after school."
Peter turned on his heel, not letting Harry even react.

He stood there for a second longer before walking over to Catherine.

"What's up,"

"So, you're like new here?" Mary asked, lightly biting her bottom lip.

"Obviously," Catherine murmured, rolling her eyes.

"What's wrong, Pete?" Gwen asked, furrowing her brows and shuffling to make room for Peter to sit.

"Remember Harry, my childhood best friend?"

"What about him?" MJ asked from next to him.

Instead of replying, Peter looked behind him to see the commotion around the table where a familiar brunette boy sat.

"Hi, honey, come in," Helen Stacy, Gwen's mom welcomed Catherine. Her smile was warm and so was her hug.

"It's nice to see you again, Helen," Catherine replied politely.

"Gwen's in her room, let me know if ya need anything."

"Hey, Gwen, guess what I've got," Catherine said in a sing-song voice, entering her room.
"If it's not the answers to this stupid math homework, then I'm not interested," she sighed, her head in her hands.

"Yes, Starbucks! You've got it right," she half-joked, two cups in hand.

"Thank god, I really needed that." Gwen smiled gratefully.

While they drink their lattes, Catherine talks about her day and the new kid in her class.
"But I don't know, maybe Peter's mad at me? He was being odd and cold," Catherine wonders after telling what he said.

"I don't think so... I mean, he's kind and shy. Did you do something to piss him off?"

"No, not really," Catherine half guessed.

To be honest, she wasn't sure. she felt like whatever she did, Peter would be constantly mad at her.

"What about Harry, when you took him away from Peter?" Gwen hesitated.

She only heard through Peter's grumbles what had happened. She didn't think it was a big deal or that Catherine meant any harm, but she still asked to be sure.

Catherine looked confused. "I didn't take him away... Did I?"
She trailed off, realization hitting her like a truck.

Spider-man had a clear view of New York's biggest museum, getting there just in time to catch the thieves that have been haunting the city for the past few weeks.

The thieves were very hard to catch. Whenever Peter showed up, they were already gone. Also, the camera footage always seemed to be broken. Not physically— the camera was never damaged or covered up, someone hacked into it and stole the footage.

A shadow quickly ran across the museum's main area, indicating that someone was inside. Peter took that as his cue and immediately flew in. He used the same window to enter, broken glass scattered on the marble floor.

He tried to be as silent as possible, going in the direction of the footsteps.
Peter sneaked around till he was met by a lonely figure in one of the rooms.

He thought there'd be at least four men working together to rob the priciest jewels and artifacts, but to his surprise, a woman in black stood in the far corner with her back towards him.

If it wasn't for her bright hair, Peter would have never spotted her.

Catherine held a painting as she was in the middle of getting out.

Peter cleared his throat before announcing, "Ma'am, did you paint that? If not, I'd suggest you put that back,"
He forcefully deepened his voice. With his chest and chin held high, he crossed his arms and shuffled awkwardly.

"Spider boy..." she spun around, now facing the teen who was trying his best to be intimidating. "Gotta say, love the name," she chuckled sarcastically.

"Um, it's Spider-Man, actually," he said softly, accidentally unmasking his voice.

"Heard a lot about you," she teased, inching closer to him.
"O-oh yeah?" Peter's voice broke a little, his confidence plummeting.
"Don't worry, Bug-aboo, only good stuff." She reassures.

Before he could react, and before his spider senses could even warn him, the thief's arm swings towards Peter and punches him in the jaw. He takes a step back but quickly webs her.

The webs sent Catherine a few feet back. She almost lost her balance but managed to stay up. Her vibranium claws made a whoosh sound while extracting, the moonlight casting sharp highlights on them.

Peter quietly gulps when she smoothly cuts through the webs.
"No one's tried that before." He comments.

However, the fight didn't last long. Catherine picked her painting up and jumped out of the window, leaving a confused and amazed Peter behind.

A new face gracing the halls of Midtown High? Rumor has it that our new student is hiding more than just a killer smile.

But that's not all, the cat finally caught the mouse. Or should I say,
The spider finally caught the cat.

Keep your friends close and your jewels closer.
Who knows? Maybe the kitty's claws can scratch more than just webs.
