Moon and Toffee grew closer. Everyday, they would hang out in the garden where he still works part time or in the training camp where he was upgraded as a soldier. It wasn't long before the lizard could tell what the princess was thinking. Their close friendship-ness worried everyone. How could someone as high as a royal be friends with a monster? It was simply not done. But if you would ask Princess Moon, she would reply with: 'well now it is.'

Their friendship only grew stronger and stronger. Until that fateful day. The day when it all came falling down. The catalyst of their friendship.

[3 days before the fall]

"Queen Galaxy, there must be something done about this!", one member of the royal council cried. "I mean, the Butterfly heir friends with a monster? This is a blow to the reputation of the Butterfly family's reputation! The last incident was with your great great great great great grandmother, Eclipsa Butterfly. We can't afford to make more mistakes."

Queen Galaxy sighed as she rubbed her temples, "Yes, yes. I am aware. However, that is the least of our worries, we just received a declaration of war! And from what I've heard, their leader is not someone to be taken lightly with. He is a shrewd fellow. Doing anything and everything for his benefit."

"All the more reason to separate the princess from that monster! Your highness, if anything were to happen to you, princess Moon will be handed the throne. And I doubt the people of Mewni would want one with a monster friend."

"Or worse, a husband."

All shivered with disgust and fear.

"What are you saying you fool! Our princess may be rebellious but that's common for every teenager. But surely she wouldn't be dumb enough to marry a monster! Princess Moon has the IQ of 129!"

"And that monster has of 143. And once again a monster! I'd rather have our queen marry a dunce than for her to marry that heinous creature!"

Murmurs of agreement were about.

Queen Galaxy repressed to roll her eyes, "please, calm yourselves. We might be getting too far. Moon will never marry him. I'll make sure of it. Besides, I already have a list of suitors who are more suitable. And really, they might only be just friends."

"Friends always comes before lover, which comes before spouse.", another pipped.

"Fredrick, don't you have another poet to write?" Queen Galaxy asked with a strained smile.

"O-of course your highness. Do pardon me."

Moon sighed as she leaned against the wall, hearing more than enough. Really, Toffee was just a friend. She knew monsters are bad news, but Toffee is an exception. He was different. He was kind, smart, charming, and courteous. He ,too, was quick to defend her. One sentence from him would knock any ponce off his high horse.

"Moon must be separated from that thing, I agree. But we need to focus on the war first."

Moon got up and walked towards her room. Perhaps she all she needed was some alone time. And a quiet place to vent out her feelings in peace. The halls had never felt so lonely and long. Where the maids and butlers are, she had no idea. At the corner of her eye, she saw the garden through the window. And if she would squint her eyes, would see Toffee cutting the hedge back into their proper butterfly shape.

As if sensing her, Toffee looked up and smiled at the princess. The lizard man waved at her. Moon, who had been caught, blushed and shyly waved back. Thank goodness for the distance, Toffee was oblivious of her pick rosy cheeks.

As soon as Toffee looked back at the hedges, Moon made a dash for her room. The only sound available was the sound of her rapid footsteps. What was that? Why was her heart beating hard as a drum? Maybe it's because of being caught. Yeah, that's it! And she was embarrassed to be so she blushed!

Though she accepted this, Moon felt as if that was not the main point. She turned the knob of her door and the sight of her spotless room greeted her. She hated messy things, so she made sure to keep her things organized. She knew where everything is.

She quickly locked the doors and drew the curtains. Nobody must see this. The blue haired princess grabbed her wand and recited a spell she created. This was a huge offense as she hasn't consulted the Magical Council and her mother. But really, this was a harmless magic spell used for privacy. Emphasis privacy.

Secrets of soul, mind, and heart
Listen for I shall speak my part
Show me my secret treasures
For it brings my greatest pleasures

Her wand glowed blue and a small blue chest decorated with moon crescents and stars appeared with her name on silver on top. She turned the heart that sat on top of her wand to the left twice and the right once and a key appeared on its place. Unlocking the trunk, she grabbed her most sacred treasure that was given to her.

Toffee's family watch.
