"King Tom", greeted a certain king of Mewni.

Tom bowed slightly, "King River."

"Oh stop that, King Tom just call me River."

"Then please, call me Tom."

The two were at the Butterfly royal garden. Or what's left of it. Majority of the plants were crushed to the point of almost resembling dust, however, some survived. But just barely. A shame too. It was almost the season when the roses would bloom in Mewni.

"So, have you made the decision?"

Tom tossed the paper at the smaller king's hands. "Yeah. I thought about it. And I agree with the late Queen Moon. I'm sorry for your loss."

River held back his tears once more, "thank you. And I'm sorry for yours. Your parents were one of our great friends."

Not totally true, but Tom didn't bother on telling him that.

The paper on River's hand was a marriage proposal between King Tom of the Underworld and Princess Star Butterfly of Mewni. King River and Queen Moon would have preferred to give gold or jewelries, or even recourses, but mostly all of them were given to aid in the battle. With all that gone, they had no other choice but to surrender their most precious gem- their daughter.

Tom looked around the castle. A tower or two were destroyed but aside from that, noting else seemed to broken. From across one of the broken towers was a view of the royal graveyard.

"Have you informed her about Queen Moon?"

"No, the High Council and I agreed that Star would become emotionally unstable. With half the wand with her, it would end in a disaster!" River cried.

Tom inwardly agreed. Knowing Star, she would probably and most likely storm out of the castle without a plan and randomly blast every monster that she finds. It would be idiotic and suicide, especially with Toffee on the loose.

But still. Star has the right to know what happened to her mother. It would hurt her more that they kept this from her. The longer she finds out, the harder the impact. Tom looked at the sky.

In a matter of days, Star would be called back to Mewni, crowned Queen, marry him and aid in defense while he would aid in offense. Tom would have preferred if Star didn't fight at all, but he knew that she would have none of it.

"Still, she deserves to know the truth."

"I'm well aware. Just, in the right time."

Silence surrounded them for a while. But both Kings didn't mind. They wanted to take a moment to breath. In just a short span of weeks, their lives had changed drastically. And being rulers means that they had no time to take a moment to get use to the change. A whole kingdom is on their shoulders and thousands, millions! Lives of people are depending on them.

"Why don't we go inside? It's almost time for lunch after all. Today, we'll be serving cornacue !" River said with false enthusiasm. Changing the subject was never easy on him. That's why Moon was always the one doing the talking. But sadly, she wasn't there to help him.

Tom pondered over the invite. Cornacue was Queen Moon's favorite if he recalled. The Queen was always seen eating that particular food with delight that could have resembled a child. And they way River was acting, it was a no brainer.

"Cornacue? That sounds delightful. But I have to get back, there's an event going on in the Underworld for the newbie demons and I have to be there to supervise. You know how young demons get when they aren't watched out for."

"Well then, another time."

Tom nodded, "yes. Good day River."

"As to you Tom."

That was a load of BS. The event wasn't planned until tomorrow and Tom was not needed to supervise as there would be more than enough people to help, but he just didn't feel like eating more corn.

Corn, obviously, was the main source of food in Mewni. Everything Mewmans eat has corn in it. Cornacue, Corncabob, Triple layered Corn cake, etc. But Mewmans are meant to eat corn as much as they want. Their bodies need the nutrients that are found in the corn seed.

Demons, on the other hand, eat anything as long as it's edible. Though he guess he should try those nachos Star has been eating. The triangle shape reminds him of Doritos. And now Doritos remind him of that creepy, boy-crazed girl and her mystery-solving freak twin brother.

But that's a story for another time.

With Star~

"Dad please, just let me see mom! I need to ask her a question about Eclipsa!" Star begged.

River, as seen from the mirror, fiddled with the paper Tom handed him from their talk. The King of Mewni was relieved that Tom actually didn't come for lunch now. If he were here, Star would press with more questions.

Star took a moment of silence to look closely at the paper she just noticed her father held. It was  blurry because of the reception, a contract maybe? But wasn't that her mother's job? Her dad usually handles anything under Queen Moon's orders and even that comes rarely. Her mother prefers to work alone unless it requires great help.

"Dad what's that?" Star asked curiously.

River panicked and threw the paper over to the nearest guard who caught it with ease. River gave a nervous laugh and looked everywhere else, trying to avoid looking at his only child in the eye. Star looked both worried and annoyed.

"Dad? Are you okay? Where's mom? Mom!"

"Star...there's something you should know."

F*** what the council said. Throw whatever he had thought about Star being emotionally unstable about Moon's death out the window. Tom had a point: Star has the right to know the truth. But the question now is: can she handle it without being rash?

Most likely not. She did get that from both Moon and him though. For Moon's safety, River would do anything. And when Moon's mom 'wore her wooden nightgown', Moon went as far as to ask Eclipsa for help!

"Dad? Is everything alright. It is right? Yeah, I'm sure everything-" Star tried to assure herself and obviously it wasn't working.

"Your mom's dead, Star."

"Is alright?" Star finished weakly. The 14 years old princess stood stiff at the news. River wanted to slap himself. He should have been more gentle on approaching the subject, but it's too late for regrets. The damage is already done. In a way, it's just like a band aid. Remove it quick and fast, or slow and torturous.

But apparently is both fats and torturous.

If Marco's news of Jackie and him going out hurt Star, what could you describe the feeling she felt at the moment? Two of the most precious people in her life just left her. Well, Marco didn't technically left her, but still! Star knew she and her mom didn't get along well since she started her 'rebel stage', as her mother dubs it as. And now it's too late to change it all.

Unless.

"Dad? Can you give me a minute? I need time to take in the information."

"Of course dear."

Now that  really hit her. So it wasn't just some sick, twisted joke her father made up. Star ended the call and sobbed hard into her bed. She could sense Glossaryck floating beside her, but said nothing. For that, she was thankful. She wanted the time to cry. To let all the emotions out.

Why?! Why didn't her father tell her sooner?! Is that why he has been acting out of character lately?! Did they think that she would be mindless to just storm to a bunch of monsters and randomly charge?! Maybe she would, but that doesn't matter! The point is that they didn't even bother to inform her until what? Days, weeks, months?!

She cried bitter tears. She even began to laugh maniacally. She get it. They all still see her as a child. A little girl who doesn't know anything that the grown ups know. Well, not this time.

Star wiped her tears away. She turned to a concerned looking Glossaryck and asked, " I need it."

"Oh no no no no no. No. I'm sorry Star, I miss your mother too but we can't mess with time."

"Please Glossaryck. I just need to say my final farewell."

Final farewell. Like mother like daughter it seems. Looking at Star, he could see Moon. The same Moon and at the same age she asked him about the machine.

Glossaryck sighed. This would be the last time. He promised himself.

"Come with me. I have access to it."

With that, a portal appeared from the blue rays emitting from Glossaryck's crystal on his forehead.

"Get in. I will only give you 3 minutes to say goodbye."

"Fine." Star was too emotionally drained to argue.

He could just see history reappearing itself. He just hope Star would make it far in life as to see her future grandchild. Hopefully she will. But right now, they had a time machine to go to.

Author's note: I just want to say thank you for the views and if you like TomStar hit the vote to show support. And for the final farewell, here's the clip I got it from, so credits to whoever made this.
