The screams of the demons tore through the walls of her wooden hut that she had found refuge in, she didn't know what damned realm they came from, but they only brought death and destruction with them.

Her breathing skipped a beat, before forcing herself to focus on her surroundings, her shed would only last a few minutes before they found her, and tore her apart.

They came from their villages water well, a cruel and devious location, as now their main source of water was burnt entirely dry, even if they survived this, they'd have to relocate to locate a new source of drinkable water.

She felt her body go numb, what kind of leader was she?, she was next in line to protect this village, to lead it and protect it's people, yet here she was in a shed, cowering over her heavy heart.

A bead of sweat dripped from the bridge of her nose as her hand shakily grasped the handle of her staff in front of her, even if she could raise it, she hadn't yet finished her combat training.

Suddenly a new sound of a villager screaming his last tore her from her thoughts, his death call abruptly ending as the swish of a sword cleaved his head clean off.

Hearing this made her blood run cold, but instead gave way to a new feeling that she never expected to arise in this situation.

Anger.

Rage and fury built inside her at the injustice of everything going on.

But most of all deep down, she wanted to gain revenge on those demons who had attacked her village, and slaughtered nearly all of her people, with only a few managing to stay hidden, but even then their time was becoming more and more limited by the second.

As she thought more and more of the thought of her failing her people, she felt her grip harden further and further, onto her staff, until she felt a knob gently touch her skin.

Touching it her staff suddenly flipped around and extended a nine-inch curved blade-the blade of a scythe-

Putting the staff-turned scythe in both her hands now, she looked over the blade, despite being told that it had never seen combat, the blade was in perfect condition, and reflected the dim light that shown on her from the roof as she saw her bloodied and dirty face.

But that was also when a shadow cast it's presence over the few cracks that were in the sheds walls, alerting her to the fact that she had a most likely unwanted visitor.

Seeing this she felt her resolve strength to new heights, these demons, these monsters had taken everything from her, killed her father, killed her people, killed her family and friends.

With that last thought her anger flared, standing up and allowing her weapon to extend to it's full length, she turned and faced the shadow behind the door, seeing one of it's large armored arms began to raise itself upwards to smash the door open.

She closed her eye's and took one last breath before she felt her mind go deadly calm.

She didn't know if she would survive this day, or even get a decent hit in, but she knew one thing for certain.

If she and her village were to burn to ashes this day, then by the gods would these demons burn with them.
