17-year-old Stephen Strange hated seeing his best friend in pain. Ever since he learned she had severe pneumothorax, he knew he wanted to be a doctor. He hated watching her struggle to breathe, have chest pains, and seeing the blue discoloration of her lips that made it seem like she was going to die at any moment. He had visited her every day after school. He talked to her until he ran out of things to talk about, and when he did, he would find something new to talk about.

She couldn't tell him, but she was incredibly thankful. She could move around, but she wasn't allowed to do simple activities that would cause a shortness of breath. She was released into her aunt's custody. Her aunt was a lovely widow who took care of Aries extremely well, but it annoyed Aries because she felt completely useless.

Aries stayed homeschooled until she turned eighteen. Against her aunt's and Stephen's wishes, she traveled to Kathmandu, Nepal because she had seen beautiful pictures of it on the internet. She only had Google translate and a container of air with her. With severe pneumothorax, her life could end at any moment because of the tension that would build up, but she wanted to live her life out until that moment.

The doctors could have tried a medical procedure on her, but it was highly dangerous because of how severe her condition was. She decided to take her chances with dying while traveling the world, but what she stumbled upon was much greater.

Because of the Ancient One, Aries had another chance at life. She could do whatever she wanted to do without worrying of death. She could properly talk and laugh. She could walk up to Stephen and say, "Hi."
