WE ONLY SEE EACH OTHER AT WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

Delilah starts unpacking her suitcase which is filled with little clothes. She hadn't booked a return flight yet, but she assumed Pogo would allow her to stay in the house a bit - and her washing always smelt better when Grace did it.

A black skirt is laid out on top of the suitcase Delilah chucks it on a chair where her coat lays, planning to wear both later. She looks out the window, seeing the dark grey clouds come closer to the academy "Shit,"

Delilah groans and looks around her room for something to wear later to protect her from the rain - especially her shoes which might fall apart at the slightest bit of water. In her search, she finds an old framed photo of her, Klaus and Ben.

God, she missed them. Klaus and her are happily hugging, his hand clearly wandering as Ben tries to ignore the flirting. She remembers that day, how the sun had lightened her hair, and the ice cream froze her teeth.

She tries to push her thoughts away and walks to her wardrobe, a few old uniforms stand along with one she and Klaus destroyed to look 'cooler', a few jackets she'd left by accident, some jeans and a few shirts. She only stayed on nights Reginald wanted to track her 'progress', and her mother was happy to have her out of the apartment. At the bottom of the wardrobe, there's her old rain boots and  umbrella. Thank god she was the same shoe size, she grabs the clear boots and umbrella, placing them down by her coat as a familiar tune rings through the house.

♫ Children, behave
That's what they say when we're together
And watch how you play
They don't understand
And so we're

♫ Running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say

♫ I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Delilah smirks, looking over at her door as she goes to quietly shut it before dramatically spinning and starting to dance, she mouths the words as she spins around the room.

♫ Look at the way we gotta hide what we're doin'
'Cause what would they say
If they ever knew? And so we're

♫ Running just as fast as we can
Holding on to one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say

♫ I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

♫ I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Suddenly, thunder shakes the house and the music stops, it goes pitch black and Delilah catches a shoe thrown her way from the wardrobe "Christ!" she grabs her coat and rushes downstairs with everyone else, walking out into the courtyard with them.

Delilah didn't know how to describe what greeted them, it was large, blue, in the sky and looked like an illusion. "What is it?!" Vanya shouts

"Don't get too close!" Allison warns Luther

"Yeah, No shit!" Diego stares up at

"It looks like some kind of temporal anomaly, either that or a miniature black hole - one of the two!"

"Great, so we know exactly what it is then!" Delilah is naturally stood close to Vanya to protect her.

"Pretty big difference between them, Paul Bunyan!" Diego's interrupted by Klaus running through the group

"Out of the way!" he throws a fire extinguisher at it and it disappears

"What good's that gonna do?!"

"I don't know! Do you have a better idea?!" It seems to get worse and Klaus backs up, Luther and Diego arguing which one of them they should all get behind "I vote for running, c'mon!" Delilah grabs Klaus hand, pulling him back to the group. An electric static sounds through it and an old man seems to be falling through it, the face flickers between a young man's and Delilah squints, recognising the face. As the rift disappears, the body drops out and the sky clears, sun raining down on them. The body stands and everyone steps closer.

"Does anyone else see, little Number Five, or is that just me?" Klaus asks, wondering if he's a ghost.

"I see him," Delilah confirms, still holding onto his hand.

"That doesn't really help Lilah," Five looks down at his suited body, then looks up at his siblings and Delilah.

"Shit,".

WE ONLY SEE EACH OTHER AT WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

Everyone sits at the table, staring at Five who seems to be making himself a sandwich. Klaus is on the table, Diego and Delilah barely hanging off it as he sits cross-legged. Klaus is fiddling with Delilah's hand, a habit he'd picked up as a teen.

"What's the date? The exact date?" Five asks

"The 24th," Vanya tells him

"Of what?"

"March,"

"Good,"

"So, are we going to talk about what just happened?" Luther questions Five as said boy puts the bread on the chopping board, Allison and Klaus share a look and Delilah squints at the bread, knowing what was going in it. Five ignores Luther and he stands up in anger "It's been 17 years!"

"Oh, it's been a lot longer than that," Five teleports behind him and Luther mutters something under his breath.

"Where'd you go?" Diego asks

"The future - it's shit by the way,"

"Called it!" Klaus raises his hand as Delilah smiles lightly, feeling him trace over the veins on her wrist.

"I should've listened to the old man. You know, jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of the dice," Five looks up at Klaus "Nice dress,"

"Oh, danke!" Allison rolls her eyes, not annoyed he's wearing a skirt, but annoyed he's wearing her skirt.

"Wait, how did you get back?" Vanya asks

"In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time,"

"That makes no sense,"

"Well it would if you were smarter," Diego stands and Luther pushes him back down

"How long were you there?"

"45 years. Give or take," Everyone stares at him in shock, doing the maths in their head, that was more time than any of them had been alive.

"So, what're you saying? That you're 58?"

"No, my consciousness is 58. Apparently, my body is now 13 again,"

"Wait, how does that even work?"

"I'm sure if you thought about it long enough it would make sense," Delilah speaks up and Five looks at her properly for the first time.

"Trust Delilah to get it and not you lot,"

"What's that supposed to mean?!"

"Dolores kept saying the equations were off," Five mutters, ignoring everyone as he bites into his peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich "Bet she's laughing now,"

"Dolores?"

"Guess I missed the funeral," Five ignores Vanya, picking up a newspaper with Reginald on the front.

"How'd you know about that?"

"What part of the future do you not understand?" Klaus laughs slightly at Five "heart failure huh?"

"Yeah,"

"No," Luther and Diego disagree and Delilah groans, resting her head on Klaus' shoulder.

Five clicks his tongue "Well, Nice to see nothing's changed," he starts to leave

"That's it? That's all you have to say?" Allison asks

"What else is there to say? Circle of life!" and he's gone, leaving the five other occupants of the room to think it through. Five - who went missing 17 years ago - appeared on the day of his father's funeral, his mind 58 years old.

"Well... that was interesting,".
