Casualty One Shot

It felt as though you had been hit by a car. Wait. You had been hit by a car. That is why you were currently being wheeled into a hospital with pain reverberating through your body.

Slowly the pain was numbing due to the pain relief that had been administered in the ambulance. The paramedics wheeled you into a cubicle assuring you that, there shouldn't be any major damage but it was better to be safe than sorry.

You were only there for a moment before a doctor walked into the room.

"Hello, I am Doctor Beauchamp-" The doctor started but you quickly cut her off, recognising the woman.

"Connie?"

Years ago when you were in university, you had met Connie Beauchamp and you had fallen in love at least for how long it lasted. You were together for a couple of years, but then you mum had become ill and you needed to move home to take care of him, and the two of you just drifted apart. You become a makeshift nurse for your sick father, whilst Connie went on to become a doctor, leaving the two of you without any form of communication. Since then you hadn't even heard from or about her, so it was a surprise that you just so happened to be wheeled into the ED where she happened to work.

"Y/N?" She questioned.

You attempted to move in your hospital bed but it was near impossible with your head and neck being secured so no further damage could be done.

"It's been a long time. How are you?" You smiled attempting to come across as a chipper individual even though with a mixture of pain medication and the pain you felt it was hard for anything to be said concisely or coherently.

"I am sorry I cannot do this. I cannot treat you... not with our past."

Connie went to walk away from the bed you were in, but you reached your hand out to grab her wrist, stopping her from leaving you.

"Hey... wait... I've missed you," you said in a near whisper.

She let out a sigh, drawing the curtain surrounding the cubicle.

"I've missed you too," she responded softly, which was a rare tone to hear in Connie's voice.

"Let's not beat around the bush now, did you ever get married? Or date someone else?" You questioned. "Not to be a complete cliché, but no one could ever compare to the Constance Beauchamp."

She let out a strong laugh.

"Well I was married, and a won't say he was the only man I have been with as I have a daughter, Grace. However, none of them could stand up to you in comparison."

You couldn't help but smile. Even after all of these years you still loved her dearly.

"Seen as you can't treat me with our past and all, maybe after I get out of here we could go get coffee?" You offered, hopeful.

"I would love to."
