Bridgerton One Shot

Being a woman in love with a woman was inappropriate for the fine society you were part of, but the encouragement of womanly friendships, provided the perfect cover that you needed to spend time with Eloise. You had fallen for one another years earlier, in a childlike crush but soon your love developed as the two of you did and used the excuses necessary to spend time with your best friend unbeknownst to the rest of London how truly friendly you were.

Once more you were visiting Eloise but this time you brought a pile of books and papers that you had been reading through since you last saw her. When you entered the drawing room of her home, she instantly looked excited to see you, but it turned quizzical as she noticed what you were carrying. She excused herself from her mother and younger siblings, taking your hand and leading you off to her bedroom to investigate what you had brought with you.

"Did you break into the library?" She chuckled.

You rolled your eyes at Eloise. "I have been looking into Lady Whistledown for you. I don't know how useful this will be, but it was everything I could find that could help you narrow down who she is."

You placed the books down onto her bed, laying out the sheets of papers so that she could look them over. Eloise scanned over them before her eyes lit up and she began to grin down at everything you had placed down for her. She turned her attention back to you, cupping up your cheeks in her hands, squeezing them in excitement.

"How can you be so perfect?" She grinned, leaning in to press a passionate kiss to your lips.

She stole your breath away with the gesture, leading to you needing a couple of moments to steady your breathing once more.

"I wouldn't say I am perfect," you smiled. "But I know how important finding out her identity is for you, so I will do anything I can to help you. I cannot guarantee that they will be of use to your pursuit, but I hope they hold the answer you're looking for."

Eloise started to fumble through the papers, looking over the information they contained, before pushing over the stack of books so that she was able to see each of the covers.

"These will help, I am sure of it."

She reached out her hand to squeeze yours, in a tight, reassuring grasp before she got to work on the one thing that had been consuming her mind for so long.
