Elementary One Shot

It completely baffled you as to why Kitty was acting so abruptly and harshly towards you. Since you had both moved to America you had been the best of friends, you knew everything about her past and it could only make you see more of her strength when she could only see it as a weakness.

Not only was she acting off, it just seemed as though she was just pushing you away. As far as you knew you hadn't done anything wrong. You weren't the perfect friend, but you did your best and you were always there for her, and you were pretty sure that you hadn't done anything to make Kitty hate you.

"What's wrong?" You questioned resting a hand onto her shoulder gently, making her jerk away from your touch.

"Nothing," she stated monotonously.

"I thought we were friends Kitty? Friends tell each other things and help each other."

Her expression was stern and pain stricken.

"What does it matter?" She commented bitterly.

"Friends matter. I thought we mattered," you frowned solemnly.

"Friends don't last, they never last."

At this point she rose to her feet, her eyes almost filling with tears but rather just showing the pain she was feeling.

"Why would you think that?"

"Anyone I have ever befriended has left. No one sticks around. I am broken, I am weak. Why would anyone want to spend time with me? I don't even know why you have been nice to me so far, but inevitably you are going to leave," she nearly shouted, trying her best not to cry or show too much emotion but really she was failing at it.

Without being rational to the situation before you, you reached out to hold her shoulders, to help calm her down and try to make her stop being irrational.

"Kitty, calm down. I have no intention to ever leave you. You are my best friend and I love you, and no matter what has happened, or what will happen, I shall never leave you. You aren't any less of a person for what you have been through, if anything you are so much stronger. Please don't try to push me away, because I am going to stay here, for however long you need me, as I need you as well," you said softly.

Her head fell, as she tried not to make eye contact with you, in fear of what her eyes could tell you.

"I just hope that our friendship can maybe put a smile on your face again."
