Being in a relationship with Sherlock was rarely a bad thing, however when it was, it was off the scale.

Sherlock had a habit of not telling you things that involved you when it came to a plan about a case or needing to do some research about whatever they were working on.

Him leaving you in the dark most definitely got on your nerves.

A part of you knew that it was just him thinking that he could keep you a tiny bit safer by not telling you, but all of you knew that it didn't work like that.

John had attempted to get Sherlock to tell you when you were involved, he had tried multiple times, but to no avail.

Your boyfriend just never managed to grasp the fact that he needed to tell you, even if he thought that it could put you in the slightest bit of danger.

He always forgot that you could handle yourself, you weren't some weak-willed woman that didn't know how to fight back.

Sherlock and John had just gotten back from going after a lead, of which you could've helped with considering the intended person worked in the exact same field as you and you knew them well.

The only reason you found out was because Mrs Hudson decided that you should know, and for that you were grateful because without her you'd never know anything.

You were sat on the bed you shared with Sherlock, waiting for him to at least come in and greet you before disappearing once again.

Eventually, after fifteen minutes or so of him being back and then John bidding him goodnight, he had appeared at the doorway.

"Why didn't you come out to greet us?" he questioned, closing the door behind him.

You shrugged whilst not looking up from your book "Didn't see the need to" you answered curtly.

Sherlock sighed, sitting down next to you on the bed, "What has gotten into you? You were completely fine when we left" he reached out for you when he talked.

Quickly, you got up from the bed and stood near the door, "What has gotten into me? Oh, I don't know, perhaps the fact that my own boyfriend won't trust me to help him" you spoke with annoyance in your tone.

A confused expression made its way onto your boyfriend's face "What are you on about? You help me all the time" he stated simply.

"What about tonight then? You went to investigate one of my colleagues, someone who works in my field, who I know inside and out" you explained before crossing your arms "I would have been able to help. Tell you more. Get more information out of them" you continued your slight lecture "And yet, not once, did you ask me to help you" realisation crossed Sherlock's face when you finished talking.

He stood up from the bed and soon stood in front of you "You know?" he quizzed, the unimpressed look on your face made him sigh, "I don't like getting you involved so closely" he told you the exact same thing as always.

Whenever you confronted him about this, he gave you the same line every single time and you knew that he was just being an overprotective twat.

"It's not that I don't trust you, nor do I not want your help" he finally started to say something different to his usual speech "I am simply worried about someone realising your connection to me, and somehow getting to you in order to get to me" his voice dropped to a whisper whilst he talked.

The look of hurt and sadness on his face made you want to cry just looking at him, "Sherlock..." you leant back against the door as you spoke "I understand the fact that you're worried about that, but it's not as if no one knows that you have a girlfriend. It's been five years for god's sake, if someone wanted to get to you through me then they would have done it by now" you explained.

Sherlock took another step forward, reaching out to wrap his arms around your waist, "I am not willing to take that kind of risk" he stated as he rested his forehead against yours.

You sighed, and looked down, "Then I am not willing to stay"
