It was strange to have a guy that you had been friends with for such a long time suddenly avoid you.

He hadn't been talking to you for the past couple of weeks, and knowing what he was like you had decided to give him some space and not bombard him with messages until he decided to snap out of it.

You and Tyler had been friends since you were old enough to walk, you hadn't ever been apart and the two of you might as well live together already given the fact that you would only go a couple of days without seeing each other.

Needless to say, two weeks of not seeing Tyler or having next to no contact with him was practically killing you and you hated it more than anything.

You knew that Tyler's Mum was going to be on a business trip out of town for the next week, so you had decided to take that opportunity to find out why your best friend was being M.I.A.

Deciding against knocking on the front door, knowing it would already be open, you walked in and headed up to Tyler's bedroom.

In the past, Tyler had never minded you just coming over unannounced as his house was basically your second one.

You pushed open the door to his bedroom and gasped at the sight that met you, he was with Caroline in a rather compromising position.

Before either of them said anything to you, you walked back down the stairs and out of the front door.

You were fully aware that you weren't in any form of romantic relationship with Tyler, but that's not to say you'd never thought about it.

He had been in your life for as long as you could remember, so of course there was a part of you that had slight hope that something of that essence could happen.

You hadn't even managed to get down the front steps by the time a hand gripped your wrist.

Turning around, you saw Tyler in a pair of shorts with no shirt looking at you with regret across his face "Y/N" he breathed out as he loosened his grip on your wrist.

You took your wrist out of his hand and continued to walk down the steps "Just go back upstairs Ty, I'll see you whenever" you told him without looking back at him.

You didn't even get down another step before he grabbed your wrist again "Y/N" he repeated with a sterner tone.

Sighing you eventually turned to face him "What do you want Tyler? You have ignored me for weeks, so I came here to see if you were okay and clearly you are because you've got Caroline – go back upstairs, have fun with her" you explained to him.

He pulled your hand and made you sit down on the steps with him "I didn't want to ignore you" he admitted but his voice was no more than a whisper "I wanted to tell you" he stated in a stronger voice.

You sighed and looked him in the eyes "You know you can tell me anything Tyler. Since when have you not been able to tell me something?" you questioned which caused him to look away from you.

"Because you wouldn't believe me" he commented before turning back to you "I just know you wouldn't" he said in reassurance but more to himself than to you.

You shook your head "Try me Lockwood" you spoke with a faint smile on your face, trying to get him to cheer up even a little.

He took a deep breath "You're my mate" he told you whilst looking you in the eye.

"Yes. A mate. Also, known as a friend" you responded to him in slight confusion.

He groaned slightly but in a stern way, standing up out of frustration "You don't get it Y/N" he stated as he ran a hand through his hair "I'm a werewolf and you are my mate" he told you and then scanned your face for a reaction "And no I am not crazy" he breathed out.

You stood up slowly "You're being serious?" you quizzed out of curiosity.

He nodded in response to your question "I wanted to tell you Y/N, but you wouldn't believe me and why would you even like me in that way? Having a human mate is rare and I know that it's strange for you but I promise I will answer any questions you have" he rambled and spoke very quickly.

You smiled at him and just pulled him into a hug, your arms going around his neck whilst his wrapped around your waist, "Calm down Ty. I'm your friend for the long haul and by the sounds of it things are going to be changing" you explained as you pulled back to look up at him "Also you might want to go and talk to Caroline" you suggested.

He groaned and buried his head into your hair "All in due course Baby"
