chapter one, the beginning

"fuck sakes." riley groaned as the light illuminated into her room. she grabbed her phone off the night stand and read the time, 1:47pm.

"shit!" she yelled jumping out of her bed and running to her closet. she grabbed a while flower top with a green floral skirt and doc martens. she put on her necklace and 3 braclets with a bunch of charms on them. she quickly brushed her hair and ran downstairs.

"hey darling, the cameron's are coming over soon to grab some stuff for the hurricane today." nadia, riley's mother said giving her a small smile.

"uh okay." she replied walking to the fridge and grabbing out some strawberries before walking back to her room.

she looked at her floor and groaned at how messy it was, clothes were everywhere, her bed wasn't made, she had books all on her floor and dresser and she had coke cans in her room.

she began grabbing her books off the floor and put them into a neat pile to sort into her book shelf later on. after about 5 minutes and a 2 minute break eating strawberries and going on her phone she had cleaned all the books.

now that the books were off her bed she began to make the bed, picking up all the pillows off the ground and neatly placing them on the comfortable sheet on the bed. she put her silk green quilt onto the bed so it looks good enough. she grabbed her laptop which was on the ground from her ordering clothes until 4am.

she then began to pick up the cans and cups in her room before turning around when she heard the door to her room open. once she had fully turned around and noticed who was at the door she dropped the cans and mug that she was holding, it smashing into pieces.

"damn ry, did you have a party here or something." the tall male said eyeing the room.

"rafe. shit um no, i-" she said stunned that he was here so early, she thought they would've came like 4 or 5 not 2.

"here let me help." he said walking over to riley and bending down to pick up the broken glass and cans she had dropped.

she started at him in shock before crouching down to pick up some more cans.

he finished picking up the cans and put them into the plastic bag that riley had brought into her room to clean.

"um, thank you." riley said standing back up and looking up to rafes tall figure, riley standing at 5'2 and rafe being 6'2.

"do you need any more help?" he asked looking down at riley.

"i should be fine i just need to clean my clothes up." she replied looking around her room.

"okay, also i wanted to ask, do you want to be my date to midsummers?" he said looking directly in her eyes.

"yeah sure." she said quickly surprised by the question the cameron had asked.

"okay cool." he said before walking out her room and closing the door on the way out.

riley lied on her bed with her head phones blasting taylor swift as she softly hummed the lyrics of 'the last great american dynasty'

she was online shopping and trying to drown out the sounds of the hurricane happening outside.

stella was lying next to her snuggled up to her as she played roblox with wheezie on call. stella always slept in riley's room when a hurricane happened as she hated the loud sound and hated being alone.

riley added a green corset looking tank into her shopping before adding a mushroom poster that stella had asked to get, she then added some makeup products before ordering her cart.

she closed her laptop and took out her headphones and heart stella say goodbye to wheezie before she turned off her phone and put it on charge.

"hey ry, could you take me and wheez to get ice cream tomorrow?" stella asked looking over at her older sister.

"yeah sure stel, goodnight, i love you." she said as she kissed the top of her sisters head and closed her eyes.

"thank you, goodnight, i love you more ry." she said smiling and closing her eyes too.

riley woke up to the sun beeming into her room and it going into her eyes. she pulled the blanket over her head and reaching out to grab her phone.

she checked the time and it was 7:32. she took off the blanket noticing stella was already up and probably eating breakfast.

she stretched her arms throwing her phone on her bed and getting up to go get some clothes out her now neatly sorted closet.

she grabbed a small white flowy dress with small blue flowers off her coat hanger and a black cardigan to put over it. she grabbed some brown converse out of her shoe rack and put the clothes on and putting her converse on the floor so when she needed to go out she could quickly grab them.

she then made her bed and put some rings on before brushing her hair and grabbing her phone to go downstairs.

"morning ry." stella said smiling happily at her before stuffing her face with another forkful on pancakes.

"hey stel." she said smiling softly at her sister and ruffling her hair up. stella pushed riley's hand away roughly making riley laugh slightly.

riley opened the back door and looked at the backyard to see workers already fixing up any damage done by agatha. riley hummed slightly before closing the door again and making herself some coffee.

riley walked back up to her room and sat down on her bed and sat on her phone for a couple hours before kimberly knocked on her door and came in.

"can you take me to john b's." she said standing at the door frame. riley looked up from her phone and just stared at her saying nothing and raised her brows slightly waiting for her sister to use her manners. "please."

"sure." she said standing up and fixing her hair a bit walking over to the converse sitting on her floor and putting them on.

riley walked over to her draw and get her keys before walking straight past her sister and knocked on stella's door. riley opened the door to see stella and wheezie sitting on stella's bed colouring.

"hey, do you two wanna get ice cream now?" riley asked.

"yes please." both girls said in sync before standing up and putting on their shoes. riley walked downstairs and walked outside to her car to see kimberly already standing their.

riley unlocked the car and got into the drivers seat turning it on and connecting her phone. riley and kimberly sat in silence before stella and wheezie came outside and got into the car and riley drove off.

kimberly sat in the passenger seat with riley driving, and stella and wheezie in the back.

riley, stella and wheezie were all screaming the lyrics to 'don't cha by the pussycat dolls' and kimberly was clearly annoyed.

"do you guys really have to sing all the time." kimberly said while looking out the window

"if you want a ride to those friends of yours you have to suck it up." riley spoke up while drumming her fingers against the steering wheel.

"why are stella and wheezie even here." kimberly said back looking at riley

"we want ice cream and riley said she can get some for us." stella said giddily as they turned onto the road the chateau is on.

"be grateful i even agreed to give you a ride alright." riley said side eyeing kimberly. the chateau came into view. "jesus, this place is a shit show."

kimberly just stared out the window until the car stopped and she began grabbing her stuff and she opened the door. "need me to pick you up?" riley asked turning her head towards kimberly

"uh, i'm sure john b can give me a ride home." she said back before getting out the car.

"call me if you need to be picked up, i don't want you walking home alone alright. and don't go into the marsh, their was just a hurricane." the oldest hunter girl said.

"got it." kimberly said giving her a thumbs up and walking away.

riley began driving towards the ice cream shop while the girls were talking about which ice cream they wanted.

"man, if your sister wasn't such a stuck up kook i'd totally hit that." jj said looking at riley's jeep drive away while kimberly took a seat next to kie.

"yeah, my sister has her eyes on rafe cameron." she said, kiara gagged at the mention of the cameron boy while the boys all looked at her in disgust.

"nah riley would never stoop that low, rafe definitely likes her though." john b then said, looking at kimberly as she just waved him off.

"yeah, you don't know my sister like i do." she said before standing up to go grab a beer from the fridge

"hey kimberly" pope said looking up from his book receiving a small wave from the hunter girl.

kimberly opened the fridge to find it empty, "john b. we need to buy beers right now, come on i'm paying."
