Halls of the fortress filled with a short scream and then heavy breathing, followed fastly by a terrified cry. Red Son immediately stood up, alerted and looked around quickly.

He adjusted his bathrobe, and hurried to the bedroom across from his room. He knocked first, but hadn't waited, and just walked inside "Dragon Horse Girl?" his voice - a soft whisper.

He looked around the room, and then he saw her, curled in the corner. Shivering and crying. Red Son walked up to her and fell to his knees next to the girl. "Hey, Dragon Girl... What happened..?" he asked, but the moment he placed his hand on her shoulder, she flinched and shook her head terrified, choking on her tears. Demon now noticed how they mixed with pinkish and red flames.

Red Son sighed and cupped her cheeks more confident, making her look up at him "It's alright, I'm here now." he wiped those flame tears from her cheeks with care, and she placed her shaky hands on his, leaning into his touch slowly "Tell me. What happened?" he asked, waiting for her to calm down a bit.

"I-..." she choked out and cried again, but the demon waited for her to collect her thoughts, stroking her cheeks tenderly "I saw myself burning everything..." she said finally, looking empty somewhere before her "And- And I burned MK and- and I- I burned you-" her voice was weak and unsteady "And- Shit, I burned everything-!" Mei again fell into a long cry, terrified with the vision from her nightmare.

"Hey, Dragon Horse Girl! Look at me." Red Son straightens his hold on her face, then one of his hands falls lower to grab on hers one "Here, look." flames suddenly sparkled and played in their hands, twirling between fingers. Mei looked and her heart sped up, and held her breath "You can't burn me. You won't burn me. You won't burn Noodle Boy, and you won't burn the world." he stated firmly.

"How- How can you be sure?" she asked, still shaky and on with tears in her eyes, but listening.

"I won't let it." Red Son promised and placed a warm, gentle kiss on her forehead "How about we'll go back to the bed and I'll stay with you for the night?" he offered and she looked at him with glassy eyes as he nodded.

And they did sleep the rest of the night together. Two flames, snuggling with each other in bed, as no nightmares dared to even get close to them anymore.
