FH:
Wukong and Macaque talk. Finally.

Today's prompt:
"that's not the point"

=)

///////////////////////

It was a day like any other. The weather was beautiful; warm and sunny. The sky was clear and trees were full of fruit. Wukong was lying in the crowns of tall trees basking in the sun and trying to relax.

Yeah, trying. Because everything was so perfect around, so beautiful, yet he felt something was missing. Well, he actually knew what that was, but the thought of confronting a certain someone sent a shiver down his spine.

He looked to the sky thinking. A grimace painted on his face out of conflicting feelings inside of him. Because he really missed his Moon, he yearned for his companionship... but the conversation that stood in the way of that, was just such an inconvenience.

The King signed aloud as he knew that it was better done faster than later. And after recent events, he knew above all he wanted his Warrior back.

So he slowly got up, not really with much enthusiasm, already thinking of all the ways he will most likely fuck it up. And he searched for Macaque on the mountain, which wasn't that hard, as the ebony monkey mostly napped in the shade of the old tree on the beach.

Wukong walked up to the tree, looking at the napping monkey and opened his mouth, but closed it just as fast, trying to find the right words.

He doesn't believe there are right words for this.

"Are you gonna say something or did you just came to stare?" Wukong flinched when Macaque opened his eyes slowly with an unimpressed look.

They locked in eye contact before Wukong finally spat it out, "I'm sorry." he looked down, his hands tight on the material of his tunic.

Macaque looked surprised, he sat up and tilted his head to the side, "For what?" he asked, seemingly unmoved by the other's claim.

"What?" Wukong looked up at him confused.

"What are you sorry for?" Macaque furrowed his brows as his gaze pierced the confused King.

"I- Uhm, you know-" he played with the rim of his clothing "...for killing you..." he murmured, as if scared those three words would curse him and get him nightmares for following nights.

Yet Macaque scoffed at that as if Wukong just spitted in his face "Of course. What did I expect of you anyways." he turns away to leave.

"What?" Wukong is dumbfounded but he always acts before he thinks, so he grabs Macaque's forearm before he disappears inside the shadow "What do you mean? What do I do to get you back?" he asks, not even trying to mask his desperation anymore. Longing in his gaze almost softens the Warriors heart. Almost.

"Think Wukong." he hisses sharply, "You really think I'm pissed about being dead? You know me better than that." he scoffs, "Or I thought you did." he tore his hand out of his grip "Yeah, death sucks, but that's not the point, Wukong." he runs a hand down his face and looks away, questioning if he wants to continue or just dip into the shadows and not deal with all this.

"Then tell me." Wukong begs, grabbing him again, this time hand by hand, tangling his fingers with the other's.

"I-" he grits his teeth, trying to escape the intense stare of the golden eyes. He takes a deep breath but it comes out a bit shaky, "I was never your first choice Wukong. And I know I will never be... I used to hope... that one day I'm gonna be as important to you as you were... are... to me." he admitted, "I now I fucked up as well, and you won't forgive me for leaving you. Well, I won't forgive you for constantly choosing everyone over me as well." he hissed, as he tried to pull away his hand yet the King's hand tightened "I won't let you hurt me again." he had no idea when tears started to run down his face.

"I forgive you." Wukong said firmly, looking at him intently "And I am sorry." he added stepping closer, and catching Macaque's second hand into his as well "I will wait for as long as you need to forgive me too." he claims, determination in his gaze almost cartoonish.

"You're a liar. I don't believe you." Macaque shook his head.

"I'll show you." Wukong knows no matter what, he cannot back down now. No matter how much he wants to just hide and cry under some rock. He knows that's what his Moon needs now and he will put his needs above his. This time he will do as he should. "I'll choose you. I'll stay with you and I will continue to choose you."

Macaque scowls "You're lying. You don't get it." he tries to pull away but Wukong pulls him in and locks him in embrace "I don't believe you. I don't want ot."

"I'm sorry I took you for granted, Miho... I won't do it again." he claims and he sees Macaque look up at him with such a vulnerable gaze he wanted to cry as well, "Please, allow me to keep our promise." he soothed and there is so much warmth in his gaze, the Warrior thinks he will melt.

Macaque is silent for a moment, calming down a bit, debating his own feelings before leaning into the embrace "...whatever you say, Wukong."
