CHAPTER 2:
VALYRIAN.
Anne

If any other subject heard someone start to speak High Valryian to them, they would not know what to say. Only subjects that lived within the castle knew the language, as it was hard to master and really only the Targaryen and Velaryon families knew it.

Yet I was not just any other subject. I grew up with the prince at court, as many thought that we would be betrothed since he is the prince and the best choice for a match to keep our families bound. I learned the language, always so giddy to one day speak it with my future husband. But the prince did not grow up to be as mature as his elder brother, disappointing many as he was destined to be the heir. My father deemed him unfit for me and ended things before even a rumor of being betrothed could even surface.

And then I was sent away.

“You are even more beautiful than before, Lady Hightower,” Daemon spoke his mother tongue as he circled me like his own dragon, waiting for the time to strike as his eyes were trained on my earrings.

The ones he forged for me.

“Yes, many of you Targaryen seem to have noticed, my prince,” I replied, my tongue sharp with the accents and his head quirked to the side.

“You speak like a true Targaryen.”

“I learned from the best. Rumor has it you had these made for me?” I gestured to the earrings, and a small smirk played upon his lips.

“I made them when I thought our Houses would be aligned,” I had to stop my breath from hitching in my throat as his hand came up and touched my hair, “but then your father sent you away and broke off the engagement.”

“Last I recall, you paid no mind to me before I left. You ignored me,” I felt so shameful that he could still make me freeze and my heart stumble all while just looking at me.

"And we were not engaged."

“I do apologize for that, especially after your father found out. I did not know what to do-”

“Because you did not do anything, I am now engaged to Jason Lannister,” I cut him off, looking at him and our faces were inches apart. Because Daemon took my virtue, the only man who would have anything to do with me was Jason Lannister. Of course only the Lords knew the truth, but that did not mean I did not feel their judgemental stares anytime I entered a room.

“Do you want me to take you to court and claim you as mine? Take what was mine and make you my wife, so that you may be treasured properly and have me kneel before you in forgiveness?” He whispered, our faces inches apart and as tempting as he looked, I knew that this would only end in disaster. I stepped away.

“You already have a wife,” I said, cutting off my Valyrian and trying to calm my fast beating heart.

“That I did not want,” He retorted.

“But you are now married. Every Lord knows what I did, and if I do not marry Jason, then suspicion will grow as to why I have no marriage offers,” Life as a man was easier. He could decide to take a second wife but if I were to back out, then my virtue would be questioned by the public and ruin our family image.

"What if I went to court and told them? Told the whole world and claimed you?"

"You have a wife!" I yelled, "I cannot be yours!"

"But I claimed you as mine that night," Sometimes I forgot who he was. That he was the Rogue Prince, the cocky heir to the Iron Throne. His Valyrian was sharp and harsh as he grabbed my arm and pulled me into him, becoming as territorial as the dragon he rode.

The dragon that he controlled.

"You remember it. The way I craved you and how beautiful you looked screaming my name-"

"Daemon stop-"

"Tell me you don't want me. Tell me you never want to see me again and I'll let you go," He said, his face inches from mine and if anyone found us, we would both surely face severe consequences. Jason would call off the engagement and I would be known as a whore.

Daemon Targaryens' whore.

I wanted to say I didn't regret it. I wanted to speak my truth and say that I wanted him to whisk me away from here. To take me to Dragonstone and claim me as he once did, and never stop because he was just that addicting.

"I-"

"In Valyrian."

Gods help me.

"Daemon Targaryen. . .I do-"

Without warning, he shoved me away. I was about to question him but then a guard came in.

He was protecting me.

"Lady Anne Hightower?"

"Yes?" I questioned, straightening myself and trying to calm my heart.

"Queen Aemma requests your presence in her chambers. She has begun her labors and asked for you."

///
Anne was taught High Valyrian as a child, and Daemon would help her study. They grew closer that way.
Also I'm sorry but I thought Polygamy and Polyamory was the same? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
