ROBIN WAS TAKEN-ABACK by the kiss, but she didn't even try to push Nancy away. Instead she relaxed into the kiss, subtly threading her fingers into Nancy's hair and tugging her closer, their lips dancing until they bruised and no more air was left in their throats.

When they finally pulled apart, Nancy rested her forehead against Robin's, strained pants leaving her lips. The words to come out of her mouth left Robin more in shock than before.

"I meant every word I said last night."

Robin gazed into Nancy's eyes, her lips slightly parted. She wanted to say so much yet no words could come out. She just stared at the girl in front of her, falling deeper and deeper into the pit she created that held her heavy feelings for Nancy Wheeler.

"You remember?" Robin eventually queried, her mind fuzzy from the kiss. She doubted she'd ever be able to get over what had just happened.

"Of course I do," Nancy breathed, cupping Robin's face in her hands. "I remember telling you I had feelings for you and I meant it. I like you, Robin Buckley. I've always liked you."

Robin couldn't stop the smile from spreading across her face. She felt like she was in the clouds right now, high off of pure ecstasy and serotonin. Nancy Wheeler liked her. Not Drunk Nancy Wheeler but her sober self. It hadn't been a lie. It hadn't been a joke. And that was the best thing Robin had ever experienced.

"I like you too, Nancy Wheeler," Robin grinned. "Now, can you please kiss me again?"

Nancy smiled. "I thought you'd never ask."

Robin felt butterflies flutter in her stomach when Nancy rested her hand on her cheek and pulled her in for a long and passionate kiss. Nancy was going to be the death of her, she was sure of that.

They sat in the car for god knows how long, kissing and giggling, both girls feeling like they were made for each other.

"SO, YOU TWO are a thing now?" Steve asked Robin after she'd confessed about the kiss she shared with Nancy minutes prior, not even bothering to hide his shit-eating grin.

He had been even more excited to hear that his best friend's crush liked her back and kissed her more than Robin was herself, if that was even possible. Robin really felt like she was on cloud nine.

Robin kept her head down, trying to hide her blush and smile. "I don't know what we are yet, but it's something good."

Steve chuckled, suddenly pulling Robin in for a hug. He rested his chin on her head as her arms wrapped around his waist, taking in the smell of his cologne.

"I'm happy for you, Robin," he murmured. "You deserve nothing but the best, you hear me?"

Robin rolled her eyes, smiling against his chest. "I hear you. And you also deserve nothing but the best, Harrington. Don't you dare forget that."

"Speaking of nothing but the best," Steve started, stepping back from Robin and flashing her a grin. "Guess who's in a relationship now."

Robin gasped, clasping her hands together like a teacher about to explain a future project. "Oh my god— did you ask him? Did he ask you? Tell me everything!"

Robin could tell Steve was glad nobody was in Scoops Ahoy besides them. His eyes were darting around the place, looking afraid to be known as a guy in a same-sex relationship. Robin could relate. It was a tough thing to get through, but they'd get through it together. That's what best friends were for.

His eyes flew back to hers and he lowered his voice. "I stopped being a pussy and asked Eddie to be my boyfriend. I almost had a heart attack when he said yes."

"Of course he'd say yes," Robin whisper-shouted. "The guy's head over heels for you— and that's saying something, considering he's a dude with a love for Metallica and danger and you're...you."

Steve shot her a playful glare. "Excuse me, I'm easy to fall in love with. Have you seen my hair? It's beautiful."

"Oh yes," Robin nodded, playing along. "Your hair really attracts the crazy ones."

"Fuck off," he laughed, and she couldn't help but join in, the sound of their laughter filling the ice cream shop. It felt so good to just laugh, to be free of weight on their shoulders. They knew it wouldn't last forever, but this was a start. A good start.

"I'm thinking you should take Nancy out on a date," Steve suggested once their laugher subsided. "Maybe a nice dinner or a movie night."

Robin hummed in acknowledging, thinking up ideas for dates herself. She snapped her fingers when she came up with something. "What about a picnic at the park? I could bring a blanket and a cute picnic basket with mini sandwiches and strawberries and I could pick flowers for her and— "

"Woah, woah, slow down there," he smirked. "That's a great idea. I'm sure she'll love it."

Robin grinned, completely happy with her idea. She was going to make this first date the best date Nancy's ever been on, she was planning on it.

It was what a girl like Nancy deserved.
