"You can't just have the avatar breaking out of prison and hanging out in our room in the middle of the night," Katara scoffed as she was getting dressed in her room while Zuko was in her bathroom taking a bath. She had nicer oils.

"I didn't invite him," Zuko had a wet cold cloth over his eyes and forehead while his arms draped on the sides of the tub.

"Our room?" He questioned.

Kataras face turned red embarrassed.

"He was going to your room next door, I-I mean like both of our rooms," she huffed looking in the mirror as she wore a long red maxi dress that was off the shoulders short sleeves.

"Mmhm," Zuko mumbled as he warmed the water up himself.

"I feel like this dress looks dumb," Katara strutted into the bathroom as Zuko lifted the cloth and looked at her.

"Needs a belt," he said calmly.

"You're onto something," she agreed snapping her fingers.

"The dress looks pretty otherwise," he set the cloth back on his face.

"You're aware of the civilian company later correct?" Zuko called as Katara tied a bronze belt around her waist and moved the dress around to show the double leg slits.

"The what?" Katara raised a brow going back to the bathroom.

"Uh a small party thing where civilians come to the palace to congratulate us and give gifts and prayer stuff, first born things, week after the wedding," Zuko sighed pulling the cloth off his eyes and it rested on top of his head.

"I thought Azula told me to look decent because she hates my fashion?" Katara smiled in the mirror as she pulled her hair from the low bun.

"Hey kat," Zuko watched her.

"Yea?"

"Do you think we're to comfortable with each other?" He grinned at her from the tub.

"What do you mean?" She didn't understand.

"I'm naked in a bath, you're walking around like we're a married couple, sleepovers?" Zuko sat up in the water but stayed in the tub.

"We are married," Katara rolled her eyes.

"Kat you know what I mean," he snorted.

She was silent as she kept her back to him. Katara swallowed a little but pulled her hair loops back in a half up bun and stuck the comb she was married in on the top of her hair.

"Do you have a problem with it?" She turned to him confidently.

"No, I just wanted to check in, make sure I'm not over stepping any boundaries, making sure we're on the same page," Zuko smiled softly at her.

"I think we're doing okay so far, thanks for checking in," Katara smiled back nodding.

"Now get out, im getting out from the tub cause we have an hour to meet with my family," Zuko tossed the cloth at her but Katara squeaked darting out the door to miss the wet cloth.

-

Ozai and Azula saw the married duo walk in the entry way that was a large long hall from the doors to the palace that were many meters tall. Katara saw mai and ty Lee talking behind Azula, she wrapped her hands around zukos arm. He placed his hand on top of hers.

"Father," Zuko nodded as he and Katara bowed a little.

"You seem to be doing well with a wife, matured," Ozai raised a brow at them.

"I thought you'd be pleased with us," Zuko exhaled a deep breath as he and Katara stood on the fire lords right side.

Ozai watched them suspiciously, Katara seemed content with being attached to his son, they were comfortable with each other. He gave Azula a look that she caught, she raised a brow at her brother and sister in law. They whispered to each other making the princess and lord frown.

"When you speak, you do not mumble prince Zuko," Ozai glared making Zuko straighten his back more and kept Katara close.

"I apologize, Katara was asking a question," Zuko spoke clearly but annoyance was hidden in his eyes.

"She doesn't have to whisper, it's rude, what's the question?" Azula scoffed grossing her arms. She was in her usual attire but Zuko was in clean but casual clothes like Katara, nice enough to show he was royalty but it was a casual event with so called peasants.

"Sorry; I was just asking what were suppose to do, I'm not really sure if I'm suppose to do anything," Katara smiled awkwardly.

"Not everything is condescending Azula," she rolled her eyes a little but Zuko grinned nudging her to behave.

"High and mighty much?" Mai whispered to Azula making her snicker.

Ozai felt irritated with the children and walked to where the servants made a throne for him to sit and where most gifts would be given.

"Before the peasants arrive, Zuko, Katara, you will greet them and accept anything they give to you personally, no more than a kind thank you and welcome to them, I want this gathering over by sundown, but you two are representing this family, do not embarrass me," Ozai looked at the five children on the side sharply.

"There will be consequences,"

Azula smiled wickedly but frowned quickly when Ty Lee went to Katara to chat before the gathering.

"Dress is gorgeous, I hope people start dressing more like this again, I love it, and as the future fire lady I bet more lady's will be," Ty Lee motioned to the long flow dress small heels with it.

"People don't dress like this often?" Katara covered her mouth a little.

"No everyone is all about layers, it's to hot for that," Ty Lee waved it off.

"No kidding," the water bender giggled a little.

Katara couldn't help but look at Mai with a warning glare as she stayed on zukos arm. Ty Lee noticed looking over at who she once thought of as her closest friend, but if this is who mai was becoming...

"I'm going to have a talk with mai later," Katara mumbled.

"Don't," Zuko locked her close.

"We have more important matters," he looked ahead seeing Jet still as a servant. Katara watched carefully, they couldn't act now as fire nation civilians entered the palace.

"For another time," he whispered in her ear. "For now we smile,"

People started to crowd the halls as the wealthy husband and wives came to the prince and his new wife, kissing the top of Kataras hand and bowing to Zuko with the most respect. Zuko smiled kindly and bowed back to respect his own people as well.

Katara easily made conversation to ease the anxious guest who were intimidated by them while her in laws had scowls. As people left, twice as many came back later to see the water bender and the prince to see them actually interact with family's.

Zuko jumped surprised as children ran into him and Katara. A boy and girl who were shocked and fearful seeing they touched the royals accident.

"OhAgni prince Zuko, lady Katara, I'm so so so sorry for my children," a mother sprinted to them as she fell to her knees begging.

"It's fine they're just kids, it's not a big deal," Katara gasped bringing the mother to her feet again.

"Are you okay?" Zuko asked the kids.

"S-sorry prince," the older sister held her brother close wide eyes.

"What's your name?" Katara asked them seeing the fear in the small family.

"Kira, my brother is ra," the girl gulped.

"Beautiful name, it's nice to meet you, I'm Katara," she held out her hand to shake. The girl smiled finally and shook her hand.

"The fire lady!" The girl nodded knowing before who they would meet.

"Eventually," Katara winked with a smile.

"Move lady, you cut the line," a man scoffed behind them who was waiting to meet the prince.

"Sorry," the mother grabbed her children.

"Prince Zuko, a gift from my husband before he passed, he was a black smith for Piandao years ago," she offered a bag to the couple as Zuko took it for her.

"Then your husband must've been honorable for working with a master, thank you, and condolences for your husband," he touched her hand gently with a firm nod.

She smiled with hopes in her heart. Zuko asked to walk her out not caring if it angered the wealthy, he wanted to make his people feel safe for him to rule the nation one day. He's never seen so many people smile in his home that were his own people. He was proud.

Katara smiled at her husband as she waited for him to return.

"Are You the princes wife? The water tribe princess?" The next man asked curiously. He had white hair and a scar across his eye, his straw hat covered majority of his face.

"I am, Katara," she smiled holding out her hand.

"Pleasure to finally meet you, your master speaks fondly of you," the old man hummed as something was slipped into Kataras hand as they shook. His gold eyes looked at her as their hands grasped each other.

"Thank you, his respect is hard to come by," Katara gulped a little and took her hand back with what he slipped to her.

"I hope we meet again soon, master Katara," he grinned while walking away. Katara forgot to breathe as the man placed his hand on zukos shoulder walking by, Zuko looked at him and didn't seem confused nor afraid of the stranger.  That put relief back in her lungs, he was an Allie.

Katara looked in her hand and saw it was a note tied to a pai sho tile, a white lotus. She hid it in her belt while keeping her head up.

There was laughter in the distance as Zuko was smiling awkwardly with a older man with his two daughters, the girls were blushing and giggling while they shook zukos hand. He bowed to them a little with a small smile. Having a charming smile looking at them to make the father laugh loudly.

Kataras smile dropped as she watched them, a heated feeling flooded her chest and zapped at her heart. She swallowed a lump in her throat.

Oh

Oh no...

She inhaled a deep breath keeping her composure. Shit. She was jealous. Fuck she was jealous that girls were touching him.

Fuck oh no.

Oh spirits no.

No. She was completely jealous.

Oh no. This was the same feeling when she saw mai and Zuko kiss.

Oh boy did she want to scream.
