Isabelle's POV:
Summer. It's just begun. And it's incredibly hot in Hawkins at the moment. Lots has happened around here. A new mall was just built, called Starcourt. My friend Robin had the day off from work today so her and I decided we'd go to the pool. "Think you'll see any cute girls?" I asked her. Robin shrugged and said "think you'll see any cute guys?" "I don't know. Maybe the lifeguards will be attractive." Robin shook her head and said "they're always dicks." I nodded in agreement and the two of us walked into the pool, which was crowded. I looked to the lifeguard tower and saw Heather sitting there. "Heather works here?" I said. "I guess." Robin replied. We set our things down on some chairs and I took my cover up off, revealing my one piece bathing suit. Robin did the same and took her hair out of the messy bun she had put it in. "So, how does your dad like being the mayor?" Robin said. "He likes it a lot He takes pride in his job. He's always at the office and I barely see him anymore. We used to be close." I said as I stared at the water. Robin noticed that the topic had slightly made me feel bad and she pushed me into the pool, jumping in next to me. "Why'd you do that?" I asked her when I came up. She laughed and said "I had to." I shook my head at her and Heather began to get down from the tower. "Looks like they're switching shifts." I said. Robin laid on her back in the water and then I saw him. He stepped out of the lifeguard office. He began to walk over to the tower.

Robin sat up and looked at me and then looked at him. "No way. Billy Fucking Hargrove, are you kidding me?" She said.

"Hey, Billy." Heather said as she walked past him. He went up to the tower and sat down, eyes going to the pool. I looked away and Robin said "he's looking at you." "He is not." I said. "See for yourself." She said as she went under the water. I quickly looked up at the sky and then my eyes went to the lifeguard tower. He was looking at me. I looked away and Robin said "told you." I rolled my eyes at her and the two of us moved away from the kids and went to a spot where the two of us could swim. I swam from each end of the pool, Robin following me. I went to Hawkins High with Billy but we barely spoke. I always had admired him from afar. I knew he was the new King of Hawkins High and I stayed away from him. After Steve lost his title, I became closer to Steve. Billy and Steve despise each other. The only words Billy and I had ever exchanged was when he needed a pencil for class. He'd say "Kline, can I get a pencil?" He sat behind me so I'd always have to turn around to look at him. My eyes always went to his earring that dangled from his ear, the fact that he was in all denim and was chewing on a piece of gum. "Sure." I'd say. He'd smile and I'd grab it out of my pencil bag, handing it to him. His fingers would always brush over mine and it felt like we'd look at each other too long but my friend would always snap me out of it, telling me that he was an asshole. I saw Robin looking at the tower. "He's staring at you." I turned to look and I watched his eyes go up and down. I turned away from the tower and saw Heather sunbathing directly behind me. "He's looking at Heather." I said. Robin turned around and looked at her. "She's cute but seems bitchy." I giggled at her and Robin shrugged while going back to lay on her back in the water. I got thirsty and told Robin I was going to get a drink. I climbed out of the pool and began to walk back to my chair. I bumped into someone and when I saw who it was, I gasped. "You ok?" He asked. I nodded and said "I'm sorry." "It's fine. I haven't seen you in a while, Kline." He said. "Yeah well school ended and I've been busy." I replied. He nodded and said "I only know you by Kline. What's your name?" "Isabelle." "That's a pretty name. For a pretty girl." I chuckled nervously and he stepped closer to me. "So, what do you like to do for fun?" Billy said. "Are you asking me out?" I replied. Billy shrugged and said "maybe." "You're hot and everything but I know how you roll. You just want one thing." Billy furrowed his eyebrows and I said "nice try, Hargrove." I walked away from him. As much as I liked Billy Hargrove, he was the town asshole and I was not about to get my heart broken by him.

Sorry this is short! Next chapter will be longer!
