Kanari didn't believe her ears.

There was someone else out there. Out there for some form of vengeance.

Or revenge.

Kanari felt her pone vibrate in her schoolbag, but she ignored it as she headed onto the subway line to school.

She arrived at the main station when she noticed that it was raining. She searched her bag for her umbrella, and she managed to pull out the clear water shield. She then saw a young man with an unruly mop of raven hair, and round glasses on his nose, standing near the edge of the overhang that led into the central square. She noticed that he was wearing a Shujin Academy uniform. A transfer student maybe. But Kanari wondered why he wasn't heading out. It then dawned on her.

He didn't have an umbrella.

"Do you want to share? There's plenty of room." Kanari asked him, holding out her umbrella towards him.

"Oh, sorry but no thanks, I'll be fine." he responded.

"Are you sure? It's not much of a hassle."

"It's all good. It's probably better if I walk alone for today."

"Oh, okay then," she walked out into the rain, and she could hear the rain fall against her umbrella, "Oh, where are my manners, I'm Sutsunomi. Sutsunomi Kanari." She held out a hand towards him.

"Oh, I'm Kurusu. Kurusu Akira, nice to meet you Sutsunomi-san."

"You too Kurusu-san. Well, I'll see you at school." She waved him goodbye, and she headed towards the school.

She reached the gate in ten minutes, and she walked into her class. The bell rang five minutes later, and the teacher walked into the classroom. "Class, today we're receiving a transfer student today, but he apparently will be late." The teacher seemed relieved. So Kurusu-san can't make it huh.

Kanari pulled out her phone from her schoolbag to find a text from Alibaba.

'You available after school Saturday?'

Kanari tapped her phone a few times before she hit send. 'As far as I'm concerned, I'm not doing much that day.'

Kanari waited a few minutes before Alibaba responded. 'Meet after school in Cafe Leblanc. I'll be waiting in the booth.'

She responded, 'Okay, I'll see you there.' She put her phone inside her bag, and she stared at the teacher as they continued class.

It didn't take too long until the lunch bell had rung, and Kanari walked outside into the courtyard, her head turning to the side in search for her blonde haired friend.

Alas, she didn't find him, and Kanari sat at a nearby bench to eat alone. She pulled out her phone yet again and she began to type. 'Where are you Ryuji-kun?' She hit the send button, and she turned off the screen.

She then proceeded to finish her lunch, quickly putting it away as she felt her phone vibrate, it's screen lighting up as she picked it up. 'Sorry, I'm going to be late.' was all that he had texted her, and Kanari sighed.

'Just hurry on over here.' she sent back. she put her phone away, and she walked back into the class, and the hours ticked away.

It didn't take too long until she had seen her blonde friend walk into the school grounds during fourth period as she was walking down the hall. She waved over at him.

As he approached her she whispered harshly "What took you so long to get here?"

He looked around for a moment before he leaned in towards her, "You won't believe me if I told you anyway." he whispered back.

"Try me."

"I warned ya," he glanced back, "As I was walking to school this morning, I ran into Takamaki-san getting into that pervy teacher's car. I also saw a student who didn't know who he was, so I guess it was the new transfer student. Anyways, we reach the school after short conversation and then we basically walked to school like normal, except it wasn't the school, at least not really."

"What do you mean by 'not really'?"

Ryuji took a deep breath, "The school was a castle. And Kamoshida-sensei was dressed oddly."

Kanari froze at the statement. So she hadn't imagined it.

"I told you that you wouldn't believe me." He began to continue walking down to class, but Kanari grabbed the sleeve of his jacket.

"Was he dressed like a king? Almost as if it wasn't safe for work? Red and pink?"

"Uh, yeah, in fact he was," he paused for a moment, "How did you know?"

"Uh, just had a feeling." she lied.

"Okay then," he shot her a worried glance, "Anyways, we ran into this thing, who claimed that it was a human turned cat monster, oh and there were these knights that had ominous masks."

"Yeah?"

"The weirdest part though- I wasn't alone?"

"Really? Who else was there?"

"You won't believe me."

"Try me." Kanari shuffled a bit so that her blonde friend could lean close into her ear to whisper.

"It was the new transfer student."

Kanari just stared right back at Ryuji, "Kurusu-san?!" she asked confused.

"Uh yeah, you know him?"

"Yeah, I had a brief conversation with him this morning. He warned me to not become affiliated with him."

Ryuji looked away from her, and she followed where his gaze went.

What hadn't surpirsed her was that the new transfer student was all alone, and people walked past almost as if...

As if they were trying to avoid him.

Kurusu locked eyes with her and he smiled softly. Kanari replied with a slight wave.

"Why are the people walking pastas if he's a criminal?" she asked her blonde friend.

"I dunno, nor do I care. I just want that sicko to stop treating people like trash and slaves. We're living people dang it!" Ryuji then proceeded to kick the nearby trash can, to which made a loud crashing sound and Kanari jumped at the noise. Ryuji realised this and he quickly apologized to her for the sudden output of anger.

"I'm fine," she reassured him, "Better out than in, am I right?"

"I guess so." Ryuji responded as he sat back down.

They sat in the hallway in silence, the chatter of their fellow students beginning to die down as fifth period grew closer.

"Anyways," Ryuji began, standing up as he said so, "I need to get to class."

"You actually want to get to class? That is so unusual." Kanari said looking over at him before letting out a soft chuckle.

"It's not that I want to!" he huffed in reply, "I just need to take my mind off of things, like what I had just witnessed. See you Kanari-chan." He waved at her as he walked away, never once looking back to where she had sat.

"Uh yeah... See you..." she trailed off as she bid him farewell. She stared in his direction as he walked off before gathering her own things, and headed back to class.

The remainder of the day went off rather plainly, and Kanari kept her head down like always, never once attempting to speak out.

She was content to see that Kurusu-san was there, and she felt herself smile a bit as she saw him nod in her direction ever so slightly. She then proceeded to sit down in her seat.

The final bell rang loudly, shaking Kanari  from her thoughts as she looked up from her notebook to the clock. 'Uncle will want me home to help him again...

she thought to herself, and she quietly gathered her things, and she then left to reach her train. She stood all alone in the train as it glided along the tracks. Kanari looked at her phone as the trip continued on, boredom beginning to overtake her thoughts as it went on.

Her phone vibrated, and the following message appeared on her phone- 'Don't forget. Saturday, after school.' It was just Alibaba reminding her of their meeting.

'Don't worry, I remember.' She sent her reply. She shut off her phone as she felt the train slow to a stop, and she walked out of the train, a pressing her lips into a firm smirk.

It took her about ten minutes before she had reached the dark mahogany doors of her house, and she entered the house quietly. "I'm home Uncle!" she greeted.

"Ah, Kanari it's great to see you home earlier than expected." came her uncle's voice as she looked over to the left at the stairs as her uncle's red hair and face peered though the hallway.

"Uh yeah," Kanari set her stuff in the counter, "I didn't have anything happen to me after school today."

"That's always good to hear. Do you think that you can help me in the dojo today?" he asked suddenly, and Kanari froze.

"Uh yeah, what do you need?"

"I need to fill out some paperwork, but my office is a mess, so do you think that you could organize it?"

Kanari thought for a moment. "Sure, is there anyone coming in today?"

"Yeah, the beginning class, so nothing too rough. Thanks Kanari." He walked over to her, ruffling a hand through her hair.

She smiled. "No problem Uncle."

"Oh, your dye is beginning to fade a bit." he reminded her.

Kanari brought a hand to lift some of her hair, and she stared at it. Her uncle was right. her red hair dye was beginning to wash out, dulling to a mild pink, and in certain areas, it was her natural snow white hair.

She sighed. "Should I dye it again?" she asked him.

Her uncle paused. "My opinion doesn't matter. I've told you many times, do what you want, it's your hair after all," he smiled at her, "Sleep on it, I've gotta go to my lesson, wanna come with?" He held up a set of keys, and Kanari felt herself smile.

"Sure, let's go." She said as her uncle walked past her.
