Comet saw the way Margo's eyes were practically going to pop out of her head. She was staring at Jack, her forever crush since kindergarten. Comet followed Margo's eyes to the boy with the long, flowing, dirty blonde hair and old blue-green hat that he seemed to wear everyday - backwards.

Margo sighed, watching from a distance as Jack waved to the other kids with a white-teethed smile. He had a chill swagger and posed with his skateboard, casually. It wasn't until Comet let out a gasp and shook Margo until her eyesight became dizzy, making the colors of the green lockers mix in with the brown and dark green of the nearby palm trees. Margo's pupils seemed to be so disturbed by the sudden shaking that they shrunk. Comet screeched so loud, Margo's ears began to ring and she knew Comet had gotten the attention of all the students around them.

"Comet," Margo groaned. "Cut it out."

"Go talk to him!"

"Wait, you mean...to Jack? Yeah, no. I'm fine. Thanks."

"If you don't, I will." Comet replied, knowing Margo couldn't let go of the offer now.

"No, stop!" She commanded. "That's a bad idea."

"Says who?" Comet teased her. He, then, cupped his hands over his mouth and yelled. "Hey, Jack!"

"Comet!" Margo panicked, using her hands to muffle Comet's mouth. Even though Jack still heard his name being called, he just shrugged it off and began to chat with his friends again.

Margo turned to Comet and she knew he found pleasure in playing around with her by the smug, little smile he wore on his face. Margo, annoyed as ever, trudged over to Jack, who was leaning up against the stairs' railing in a chill, relaxed manner.

As Margo approached closer and closer, she could feel the butterflies in her stomach begin to sworm. It wasn't until Jack noticed Margo coming his way that her mind actually hit a blank, white, empty void. "Uhhh..."

"Oh, hey! Margo! What's up?" Jack greeted her with his famously cool and content tone.

Margo quickly forgot all of her English language and decided to wave and laugh nervously instead. She tried to act composed and calm by pulling her ponytail over her shoulder and combing it with her fingers. Her eyes fell off of Jack and to the ground to avoid being stumbled by loss of speech. "So..." She started, feeling the fuzz in her head build.

"We were just talking about how they're opening up a new skating rink just a mile from the school." Jack cut Margo off to tell her. "How sick is that?"

Margo threw her hair back behind her and looked back up at Jack. His pale blue-green eyes seemed to make her legs want to give out. "Oh yeah." She mumbled with anxiety. "If a place can be sick, then-" She steared herself to a brutal stop to keep from making it worse.

She flinched and then turned back to Comet for reassurance. Comet was watching with a gigantic goofy grin on his lips. He gave Margo a thumbs-up to let her know she was doing just fine, though Margo felt otherwise. Then, Jack caught her attention once more. "Have you ever rode a skateboard before, Margo?"

"Well, um, not...really."

Jack chortled and took his skateboard out from under his arm, setting it gently on the ground. "Here. Try it out."

"What?" Margo recalled.

"Go ahead. I'm not gonna bite." His promising smile assured Margo that he was truthful and honest. But the moment she stepped her foot on the skateboard, she felt the skateboard slide forward. She went to reach for anything to catch her fall - anything. To her surprise, she had reached for Jack just as he did so, too. "Careful, now." He said. "I gotchya."

Comet could see the scene in front of him unfolding and couldn't be more proud of himself. However, unfortunately, it wasn't long until the guilt began to creep in and he wasn't really sure why. Not only did guilt come, jealously made itself at home in Comet's mind, as well. He observed the way Jack and Margo's eyes were glued onto eachother.

Maybe he had made a mistake about this.

A big mistake.

It couldn't be possible that he liked Margo, right?

Right?
