~*~ Three Year's Later ~*~

Charlotte's POV

The sun hit me as I slid my glasses up my nose.  I pulled my suitcase behind me as I looked for the car that Bruce said he had sent to me.

It felt weird to be here. I hadn't been back to America since I left Tony all those years ago and I never thought that I'd be back here, let alone back to New York.

Looking around the cars parked outside the airport I saw a man stood outside one of the cars holding up a white card with 'Dr Monaghan' written on it. I walked over to him smiling.

Introducing myself, he opened the car door letting me in before getting into the driver's seat and driving us through New York. The drive wasn't far but took a bit of time due to the excessive traffic, one of the many things I didn't miss about this city. We rounded a corner revealing the tall building that made my heart stop.

The building had 'Avengers' written on it now rather than 'Stark'. This couldn't be. I should have never agreed to come back here, but Bruce told me I only had to stay for one week and then I could go home if I hated it.

My heart pounded in my chest as the car pulled into the carpark attached to the building. He wouldn't be here. If he still owned this place there would be no way he would remove his name from the building. Practically everything he owned had his name on it, and the buildings he owned were no different.

I'm sure he moved. There are probably lots of other places that would be a lot more appealing to him that what was once Stark Towers.

When the man parked he gave me directions to which floor I should go to so I could find Bruce or someone else that'd be more capable in showing me to where he was.

Awkwardly I pulled my suitcase and duffle bag that had my coat thrown over it into the lift. I pressed the button the man had told me to before the box began to move.

"Hello Miss Monaghan, it's been a while," the British voice spoke.

Would Tony leave JARVIS in this building? He must have.

"Hello JARVIS, I've missed you," I smiled softly, "But it's Dr Monaghan now."

"Congratulations Dr Monaghan, and I've missed you too," he said.

I had missed this AI system. He was one of my best friends, actually probably one of my only friends in America, but he also reminded me of home being British and all. Also he was extremely helpful, like a butler but just not in a human form.

The lift dinged and the doors opened. I stumbled from the lift dragging my bags. I did my best to manoeuvre through the corridors, but I wasn't really sure which room I was looking for, and my knowledge of the building is a bit rusty, seen as I hadn't been here in over a decade.

As I wandered a man walked out of one of the rooms. I didn't recognise him but I would have been surprised if I did recognise him.

"Um... Hello," he smiled softly looking slightly confused.

"Hi. I'm a friend of Bruce Banner's. I'm Charlotte. Dr Charlotte Monaghan," I smiled in return.

"Oh, it's nice to meet you, I'm Steve Rogers."

"Do you know where Bruce is? I just got here from England hence the luggage," I chuckled.

He smiled softly, "No I'm sorry, but I'm sure JARVIS knows," he then began to speak to the AI system, "JARVIS do you know where Dr Banner is?"

"In the lab sir, would you like me to tell him you are looking for him?"

"Could you tell him Dr Charlotte Monaghan is here?"

There was a short silence.

"He said could you take her to the lounge he will be there in a moment," the AI system spoke.

Steve turned to me, "JARVIS still amazes me."

"Yeah JARVIS is amazing," I smiled looking up slightly to the direction JARVIS' voice had came from.

He looked slightly confused but continued to speak, "let me help me with your bags ma'am."

I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Ma'am? I thought I flew to America not the 40's," I chuckled.

He once again looked puzzled, "you don't know who I am do you?"

"Steve Rogers?" I stated.

He had just told me his name, I know I could be forgetful but not that forgetful.

"Captain America? Frozen in ice for 70 years?" He explained.

I raked my brain for anything that seemed familiar to me. Then it hit me.

"You're the one Bruce tried to replicate right?" I smiled softly.

"Yeah," he nodded.

You smiled softly to yourself, looking at the man.

"Well that serum did wonders on you, I prefer this result than the green rage monster," you smirked to yourself then your face dropped, "I am so sorry, that came out very perverted. I didn't mean it like that, just you are very attractive and I'm presuming you don't turn into the hulk when you're angry, although if you do I'm screwed as I'm sure I'm not on your best side currently."

He laughed softly as his cheeks became red.

"It's fine ma'am, you a very beautiful," he blushed, "And no I do not turn into the hulk."

You smiled at him, he was so adorable, "Thank you, you are like a puppy, I just want to pinch your cheeks and cuddle you."

You paused, "I said that out loud didn't I?"

His cheeks were completely aflame.

"I am so sorry, I'm not used to talking to people, other than little kids, I'm a doctor, and I mainly work in paediatrics, they're lack of filter between thinking and talking has somehow rubbed off on me. The only adult regularly talk to is Bruce, and he is almost as socially awkward as I am, so it doesn't really help," I rambled, "But on a serious note, you are damn adorable and I don't revoke my previous statement."

He laughed a little awkwardly running a hand through his blond hair. He was certainly an attractive man, I wish Bruce was a little more descriptive with those who lived here. He vaguely explained his team, by vaguely I mean really vaguely. All I knew was there was six of them: him; a super soldier; a demi-God; a man in a metal suit; an archer and an assassin.

Bruce had never been one to go into much depth or talk about something a lot other than when it came to science, then you had a hard time trying to get him to stop talking.

"I'm really sorry for any embarrassment I am currently causing you, because I know I'm embarrassing myself, as I still can't shut up, and I just keep talking," I sighed trying to smile but it probably just made me look rather psychotic.

"It's fine honestly. I am generally the subject of jokes within this team as I am generally completely lost as to what is going on most of the time, most of the 21st century bewilders me still. You don't seem like you'd mean to embarrass me if you happened to," he smiled warmly.

"So what are the rest of the team like?" I questioned.

"They are nice most of the time. We are completely dysfunctional but somehow we function when we need to. I'm sure you'll get on very well with the team," he smiled.

I nodded.

"We should get you to the lounge, Bruce should be there soon," he stated taking my suitcase from my hand leaving me holding my duffle bag.

He led me through the hallways into a lounge which was occupied by three people.
