Heyyyyy guys!! This is a prime example of one of those moments when I see something cool and decide I want to try it to see what I can do with it :D

Brain: *whispers* It's called fan fiction. And it's literally what you've been doing for close to the past three years of your li--

Shhhhh. This time it doesn't involve fan fiction. Well, not directly. It does involved Star Wars, though.

Beeba17 recently did a cool effect on this template for a clone trooper helmet

for me as a gift, and one for Superkate-Studios as well. I offered to do one in return because I thought it would be a fun thing to try, since I'm trying to get better at illustrating digitally and learning my way around Photoshop, and a project like that just happened to pique my interest.

Here's the final version:

All in all, I think it turned out pretty good. I decided to be a lazy butt and copy-pasted most of the designs to get a perfect mirror image instead of actually doing the work. I used several different Photoshop layers to do the patterns, and then went back and got rid of the white in another layer so I only had the black visor and band around the top still there. Superimposing that over the designs on the face helped make it a little sharper,

The nature of Photoshop helps because you can go back and perfect little details easily, which makes it easier to make my perfectionist heart happy XD

As you guys can probably see, the theme of the helmet was water and rolling waves, with a few little drops at the bottom. But what I was originally thinking of doing was having only one side of the forehead with the design (so not the mirror image) and then some other curlicue designs on the other side. The way I initially pictured it, it was more like blue fire than water, but this was how it turned out in the end, I guess :)

I think the total amount of time it took to do it was about two hours (maybe two and a half), and, honestly, it was really fun. My next mini Photoshop project not for my graphics class at school is probably going to be a series of helmets for some of my clone OCs... most notably Captain Jattson, because I am DYING to see what the patterns I had in mind would look like on an actual template.

I'll go through my sketchbook and doodles in my school planner to see if I have anything else to post art-wise... maybe on Friday or Saturday I'll upload some art as a promo for Shadows Rising or something. As far as writing is concerned, I'll try to get some stuff updated tomorrow.

Bye guys :D
