GREETINGS EARTHLINGS!

WOW. JUST... WOW. How the heck did I draw this?! This is actually my first time drawing Hiccup!!! AND WHY IS IT GOOD ENOUGH TO BE A MASTERPIECE THE FIRST TIME I TRY WHYYYYY *magically turns into C-3P0* *sighs* Sometimes I just don't understand humans...

This came to be created today a few hours ago, as I was in a Hiccstrid/ HTTYD mood in general. (After drawing this I went and rewatched HTTYD1, just for the heck of it.) It's probably because I woke up thinking about this AWESOME DREAM I had two nights ago about HTTYD and did some brainstorming on my phone that I'm probably going to turn into a fanfic when I get around to finishing some of the other stuff...

I used reference for this, because it's my first time drawing Hiccup and I knew I was going to mess the eyebrows and the armour and the hair up (and practically everything else too) if I didn't. But, those three things turned out GREAT in my opinion, so I'm very happy. I think I'm on a drawing winning streak or something this weekend...

I put a lot of effort into the face and hair (I must have redone the jaw like eight times before I drew everything else, because that's what I always start with), but I kind of started slacking off during the armour and I had to redo part of it. Also, I'm slowly but surely discovering how to use shadowing instead of lines to show contours or shapes that are the same colour but at different distances, like Hiccup's skin.

I think that imitating the armour and the hair as closely as I could while still obeying the constraints of my own drawing style (with an anime twist, but not so much so that he's unrecognizable) were the two hardest things to do. All in all, I'm most proud of the eyes though. If they'd been just a little narrower, they would have looked pretty similar to his in the movie. And even though you can't really see if very well at this resolution, the lips also turned out very well.

I also tried a lame shadowing thing on his left side, and it's not great, and his face should have been a little longer, but whatever. I'm just going to think about Hiccstrid and that possible fanfic... And try NOT to think about all the other stories I should have updated today but couldn't because I discovered I had a LOT of homework when I though I had none...

Bye!
